Hooks falling
I just got done playing a game and mind you I have played hundreds of matches. I have never seen this....I am a killer main and Everytime I was walking a survivor to a hook another guy would go by a hook and somehow de-attach the hook and make it fall.... Almost every single hook this happened.....is this a thing I have never had this done to me before. I have seen hook that were not there before but never has a guy just made them disappear right in front of my face.

... Someone wanna tell this guy when sabotaging was introduced to the game.
... Also how horrifying it was before they nerfed it.

It's a 99% sabotage and they walk up and tap it to make it drop so you dont have time to hook.
It can be done with toolboxes or a jake perk.
Best used when combined with hook distance offerings
Easily countered by slugging or the killer perk hangman's trick

You were going against a sabo squad. They worked each hook to 99%, same as you do with exit gates. A quick tap to complete and your hook is gone!
Why don’t you see it more often? It uses up your toolbox pretty quick, so you can only get a few hooks prepped. If you use the perk, it goes hella slow. But if you have 3-4 players coordinating with toolboxes AND the perks, then they can get every hook primed for immediate destruction!

There's a perk that lets you break hooks, but it takes a long time to do. People almost never use this perk, because it's a huge waste of time and effort and only helps 0.1% of the time. It can also be done with a toolbox with or without the perk.
The guy was doing it quickly because you can leave the progress bar at 99% and then go back to it and finish it off, giving the illusion that it was instant. People 99 it instead of just breaking it because:
- Sabotaged hooks come back after 3 minutes once they're broken, and it could come back before the killer even needs to use it
- The killer might spend extra time going to the hook if it's still standing, so when the survivor breaks it in their face while carrying someone the killer will have to go all the way to another hook, but if it was already broken then they wouldn't have spent that extra effort and risk of the survivor escaping

Not to mention less generator progress in exchange for working on the hooks.

Yes, that too. It’s actually a lot of fun, but difficult to get much use out of. And it doesn’t help toward the goal of escaping.
Oh, one final note. Basement hooks can’t be sabotaged, so at the very least those will always be available and reliable.

Welcome to DbD. Yeah, they can drop the hooks when you get close. Imagine all your hooks being taken and all you have is the basement. That is what brought on slugging which brought on unbreakable which i guess brings us back to taking hooks again?

I have literally never encountered this before lol

This guy seemed to be doing it really quick and easy....only when I was carrying sombody to a hook. Poof hook drops right in front of my face.

Survivors can sabotage Hooks up to 99%.
When they see you walk up to it, they'll quickly sabotage that last 1%, making it look immediate.

Yeah they were most likely on comms. Dedicated sabo squads are annoying but afterwards i chuckle. When the game first came out a sabotaged hook would never come back. All you can really do is slug or hope you are running agitation and iron grasp. Mad grit is fun in those situations also, but considering how rare a full sabo squad is, its just better to play normal and slug everyone.

It is also not common. It rarely works out and wastes a lot of time.

Ya I was not expecting that so it caught me off guard and annoyed the hell out of me.

Try slugging them all, and taking anyone close enough to the basement.
