Should struggle state be removed?

So, I've hear people posting about this and j thought, should it be removed?

Imo yes. It's so common to die in struggle because the game froze, you didn't press fast enough for some odd reason ect.

What do you think? Let me know down below!

They should just make it automatic same goes for recovering from dying state.

The struggle state should be changed from tapping to holding a button. I don't want anything else in the game to be removed or streamlined because people "don't like it", but I could see it being an accessibility issue or with the latency. Just give people the option to change to hold.

But then survivors wouldnt be able to suicide on the first hook and dodge dc penalties.. I think devs would like to keep suicide action abuse, or they would remove it a long time ago.

There is no reason to remove them, they keep you engaged when you have nothing else going on. You don't have to mash your keyboard/controller like a mad man. I honestly don't see the upside of removing these mechanics.

They need to make it a button hold or automatic, like the struggle on hook and struggle on the killers shoulders

but do you see a downside? we dont like having to click a button fast for no real reason, why cant we, if we MUST have input, not just hold the button?

    Why not?

There is no reason why its a bad idea

Other than being a ######### ######### to your teammates and suiciding on hook. Or being a ######### ######### to your opponent and suiciding on hook to open hatch. If thats the case then its the same as DCing, so it should be changed even more so.

The upside is that I don't have to mash buttons just for my thumb to get tired or misclick and die. Also, I've seen multiple people state that they have hand or wrist issues that physically makes it so that they aren't able to constantly spam a key or button.

Struggle on Killer should be kept. It requires abit of skill to hit left-right well timing to make it faster.

Spamming Space on 2nd state hook should be removed though. Can be replaced with 3 skill check (15sec apart each time), if hit 3 Great skill check, perhaps award Survivors with another 10sec on hook.

I definitely agree that Struggle mode should be just holding down a button. Not only because if issues with the game skipping frames and causing you to die by accident, but also to make it more accessible to other players.

Pressing space repeatedly on PC doesn't seem to bad, but when playing on console spamming A repeatedly is extremely fatiguing to your thumbs thanks to the ergonomics of the controller.

I don't have any outstanding issues with my hands and I have to adjust my hands so that I'm pressing the A button with my index or middle finger because my thumb just cannot do a small repetitive motion like that for that long. I can imagine that any person with a twinge of arthritis or carpal tunnel in their hands would be better served by just having a button to hold down. Maybe they could make it optional or adjustable.

I don't think there's any good reason that the struggle mode should stay the way it is. The only thing that is strategic about it is the ability to decide if its best to just die. Especially because of the state its in now, its pretty much impossible for people like me to press the button over and over AND adjust the controller to look around to see what everyone is doing.

It should definitely be removed. It stops being engaging and becomes annoying very quickly. It's one of the many reasons I don't enjoy survivor gameplay that much. I hate forced button mashing as a mechanic. It turns me off of any game so fast. I don't care that I can re-bind it to mouse wheel down. I don't think I should have to do anything there, period. I have 1400 hours. Nothing is going to be engaging about my 1000th struggle state.

I wish they would change it to just holding the button or just remove it all together. The second you miss a tap, and boom. Dead. They could even just add a 'Give Up' option if people really wanted to just suicide hook, or knew they had no chance to get off.

Yes. Why it hasn't been removed by now is beyond me.

@Peanits any words from you or the team about this? I see this topic coming on everytime but never catched a statement from bhvr about this. It's really something noone really enjoys and changing it would make many players very happy

I think back in the day, it was argued, that it needs to be there as an immersive element. Something I heavily disagree with. Games went away from QTE for a good reason. It might be immersive in the beginning, but becomes an annoyance after quite some time, when it becomes repetitive. Not comparable with the heartbeat e.g., which is fun and immersive at first and becomes just an usefull information with experience.
