Lore wise, why would the entity choose nancy and steve?

So the obvious reason for this is character popularity and they aren't children anymore in the show. BHVR wouldn't want to show or depict child murder. With that out of the way what would the lore reasoning be for the entity choosing someone like Nancy or Steve over someone like Eleven? Like seriously, the entity is obviously strong enough to contain and control absolute monsters and powerful creatures but it wouldn't take a little psychic girl?

edit: she's telekinetic and psychic

I mean, the Spirit exists... and Huntress has the brain of a six year old... : /

And survivors are supposed to be helpless against killers, which is why Eleven wasn't chosen for that.

If my theory on what the Entity is, then Eleven being psychic shouldn't matter.

I also haven't seen Stranger Things, so I'm just speculating off what I've heard about the show and the backstories/perks within the game.

Steve seems to be hardy and has a desire to protect others, similar to David in a way. Something that the Entity will try to exploit and get him to either be driven into harm's way or slink off as a coward.

Nancy appears to be head-strong and confident. Something to shatter within the realm of the Entity. Doubt should start to plague her over time after repeated bouts of intelligent murderers coming and besting her.

Cant seem to edit my original statement. but side note eleven is also telekinetic and strong enough to rip open portals to another dimension and can kill Demogorgon like creatures (this is to give people who haven't watched Stranger Things an idea of her level of power).

@Raven014 Survivors aren't helpless though. yes for the most part they cant fight back but you can look at survivors like Bill, Ash, Laurie, and yes even Nancy and Steve who are use to fighting supernatural monsters be it zombies, demons, evil incarnate, or the Demogorgon and mindflayer. lore wise these people are fighters and decent to damn good at it. Laurie even having her own perk to stab the killer.

I do think @PigMainClaudette has a point with their personalities being more fitting for the entity to take but even then I would argue that the entity could really torture Eleven because her greatest weakness is trust and hope. her story lends itself to a lack of trust of anyone and shaky amount of hope for a better life because of a fear of people coming to take her away again.

But there is no way to defeat them. They are used to having the hope of beating them, which is why the entity chose them.

I believe it's a matter of how much hope (entity food) they have. Laurie, Quentin, Stevie boy, Nancy Drew, any liscensed character has a lot of hope because they've escaped from their slasher before. David escapes fights a lot. He has a lot of hope for future fights. Bill has what he wants. Therefore, he has hope. Each character that has bigger than 4 paragraphs of backstory has a lot of reason to hope for escape. Even so, some characters might now hope is lost, but hope for others, people who have selfless perks, like claudette's empathy or botany knowledge, Zarina's For The People, Stevie boy's Babysitter.
