Does Deathslinger need a buff or a nerf?

what do you guys think? I’m currently stuck in between and can’t tell or decide what he needs. I’d say nerf.

He needs more range and with this, more charges on his chain.

No nerfs, no more buffs than that.

In my hands he needs a buff. In a bunch of other people's hands he needs a nerf. He's a very fun killer to play and verse that requires certain mechanical skills which I lack on a controller.

In other words, I'd be happy if he gets a slight buff or something that helps with aiming, but I don't think he needs it.

Edit: I just read the other comments - @honestlybaffled @Reinami i think increasing his range is an unreasonable ask. His current range is already 2 meters higher than his terror radius with monitor and abuse. Do you want to pull people back to you from across the map?

Definitely needs a buff to his hitbox on for console players

He needs to be 115% and perhaps be able to have a magazine in his gun, able to shoot 2-3 harpoons before he needs to reload.

He has no map pressure or movement abilities at all and his power can be denied at certain loops or structures, thus they need to make his power stronger in order to end chases quicker, which is his main strength at the moment.

Yes, yes i do, because then at least his power and speed would be justified. He has no map pressure as a 110 killer, and his power isn't even that great at ending chases like huntress because he still gets shut down completely by pallets.

Devs think so too because he has addons that decrease his terror radius while aiming. So obviously they like the idea. In his lore he is a hunter and hunters tend to quietly stalk their prey from afar.

just an opinion but maybe both

went against him a bunch yesterday and today and i think he’s absolutely boring to go against, yeah he might shake up chases but when you go against a good deathslinger its extremely frustrating being killed in 5 seconds cause they have pinpoint accuracy.

idk, i doubt they’d be able to make a good and justified nerf to him, but i hope theres a way to change him to make him at least a little more fun to go against

Either 115% or a huge buff to his ability. He's in a bad spot atm.

    Either

    a. 115%

    or

    b. longer range

    then hes fine imo

    that goes for any killer.

if they are good, they are annoying to go against.

He just needs do not have such ridiculously low sens on scoping.

The deathslinger imo is fast enough as he is because he has a range weapon why should he be fast enough to shoot us when he right on us although he already does and a longer range is unnecessary because his range is already well outside his terror radios. I'm my opinion he can be an overpowered killer.

If anything the map needs a lot of work there are way to many dead end corners and rooms to get trapped in and just screwed over

His range is not outside of his terror radius. His TR is 24 Meters and his gun range is 18.

Imo with how many objects in the map how small the hitbox on his chain and how pallets deny him he needs a buff

My suggestion let him be 2 chains or at least pull people over pallets

Buff. He is a 110 killer with no movement powers and no way to project any pressure across the map, his harpoon range isnt even 20m.

He is decent in chases but that's only if you are on PC and only if you have a high enough skill. If you are on console or God forbid the Nintendo Switch he is unplayable.

    • Make him 115 speed
    • Have it so when you break the chain on a survivor that already has deep wounds their timer goes down by half (so 2 shots on a deep wounds survivor will down them)
    • Include some Auto aim compensation for console players

He really could need a buff but he is not ,,unplayable" on Console just because of the Controller. For me i have better aiming with a controller than with a mouse. It really depends on the person.

Also i do pretty well with him so far. Mostly 3-4 kills on PS4 in redranks.

I play on the switch and when I aim I get frame drops which alongside the harpoons hitbox makes thing somewhat diffficult.

I think the deep wounds state is a little much. Nobody likes in on Legion, deep wounds seems to only be really viable as a Borrowed Time effect or a killer add-on. I think if they got rid of that any of my other complaints about Deathslinger would be dismissed.

Well on the release i hadnt any frame drops when i aimed but today i just got some drops but not only for killers so i thought its just the servers or something.

    an opinion of mine

I feel like deathslinger shouldn't be able to quickscope, instead have like a slower aiming time. there's no way you can dodge a really good deathslinger's shot (which by now is most of the people playing him in games right now since he's being hyped), once they hit m2 it's over, especially with the new map, which has a lot of dead ends and really weak obstacles to get pulled around anyway. like around 1 ish second(s) of aiming time would allow the survivors to at least try dodging his shots.

to balance that perhaps he should get a movement speed increase to compensate for the second(s) of aiming time, and maybe a stronger chain, but he is a range killer like someone said and take nurse for example, she is the slowest killer in the game but uses her blink's range to get to survivors quickly.

overall he's a decent killer, his main power is overall weak when it come to pressure, but if you're up with a professional-dedicated their life to-deathslinger then you're going to struggle with the quickscopes. he does shut down loops pretty well, which is a plus and something lots of people are adapting to, but it kind of seems a little too good when in chase to just be able to quick scope someone. if he didn't have the aim option, then it just seems more fair to let him shoot instantly since theres not that much surgical precision going into his shot. if that were the situation, then hitboxes should be enlarged for his spear to make a big enough difference. take huntress for example: she doesn't have any "aim down sights" option to better her shots.

anyways i hope the new map's unsafe routes get fixed. (ps, some totem spots are absolutely godly for the killers! i walked by a devour hope totem at least 10 times because it was hidden behind a bush in a little crack under the saloon. lmao, i'm just blind)

He needs nothing right now. It's way to early to tweak him.

He is definitely not for me. But for those that can hit their shots. He could be viable.

I need practice with him before I make that judgement. I am bad with him right now so of course my games are going poorly.

If you say nerf, you are very obviously not a red rank killer. He is complete trash, C or D tier.

He needs a buff. Like several. A few good ideas would be...

115 mvmt speed (his power isn't nearly strong enough to warrant 110)

    Can drag people over pallets

Less stun penalty for his weapon

He's honestly top 5 worst killers in the game. He's helpless on maps with lots of loops and pallets, like Ormond. He's a really poorly designed killer, and it's kind of amazing how the devs can make a pretty well balanced killer like Oni in one patch, then do a terrible job the next one.

Just run Brutal Strength and pallets aren't really a problem most of the time. Since he's slow, I've been getting some good early hooks with Corrupt Intervention so long as I don't get sent to Red Forest or another huge map

not necessarily, i love going against any extremely good killer that isnt spirit, nurse, or deathslinger. the chase is the best part of this game and having any killer that cuts chases down to like 5 seconds every chase really just isnt fun to me.

    NERF.

Currently: Huntress is 110%, Deathslinger is 115%

Huntress has to reload and can't just keep firing harpoons like DSlinger. it's difficult to break chase when Dslinger never has to break off to reload. He either spears you or gets closer while the survivor is taking evasive action (not running directly away) then M1. He never has to break off.

I'm still on the fence. Right now I think people still need to get used to both playing as and against him.

From this short experience I think he's a very strong killer, with a somehow high skill ceiling. Probably he'll struggle with 4 man navy seals swf, but that's true for every killer other than Freddy/Spirit, and even then you still need for them to frick up here and there.

Nerf in chase, buff in mappressure.

Will be hard for the devs to ballance this guy.

Quickscoping is one of the few things that makes him an alright killer. You take that away and he is absolute garbage.

  • Starr43
    Starr43 Member Posts: 873

I personally would like to see the travel distance of his harpoon increased to allow for full map arc shots

  • Terra92
    Terra92 Member Posts: 583

That would be hilarious and probably frustrating for some lol

But in all honesty I'd rather him have a greatly increased range on his shot than his weird quickscope. In both the trailer and the teaser trailer, you never see the survivor. The teaser especially is just a limp chain that becomes taut, hinting that whoever was hooked was hooked from a distance. And the trailer itself is just him reeling in his chain as a baby Dwight cries in the background, unseen. Both of these trailers make you believe that the killer has a long range to fire. But 20M isn't all that much. It's less than the average Terror Radius.

He needs a buff. He may be high mid tier in lower ranks but once you get on high ranks he gets dominated. I'm a ps4 player and the aiming isn't as bad as people say it is but the problem is the fact that he is really underwhelming.

1 harpoon 110% speed and gets countered by an early pallet drop.

Either he's 115% speed or they need to add extra harpoons and a bigger range to deathslinger.
