Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Archive - The Tome (Difficulty)

I started playing Dead by Daylight this year in January, so I have less than three months experience. I know I will never really be great at the game, but I do enjoy it most days. I started playing with my brother, but he quit playing because of his schedule and not having a group to play it with, so now I only play solo. During the last Tome, since I only just started, I started very late, but I was able to progress fairly well/quickly through all of the First level, and most of the second level before it finished. This tome, has seemed like so much more of a grind so far and I don't have the time to play all day everyday. I completed everything in the first level right when the third level was opened, the Second level I only did the middle row so far, so I could move onto the 3rd level. I don't have the skills needed to successfully do many of the tasks in the second level. For the 3rd level, I have been playing non stop for three days (Because spring break just started and I don't have to work for a week, so more time for DbD) But I CAN'T even get past the 1st. Level 3 Survivor Challenge, because I suck, and I know its because of my own skill level and nothing with the game itself. In the last three days I have managed to only successfully escape a game twice (Out of the five I need) and one of those was because the Killer was farming and let us all go. I don't think that the current way the Tomes are made is good for new players. Yes I think they should be challenging so that not everyone can get them super quick, but I think there needs to be a better balance in the difficulty. I know for a fact, from watching a few youtubers/twitch streamers that play. All of the people ranked 10 or higher can basically confirm that they will get their challenges in done in the minimum number of runs possible. If the task is escape the game 5 times, they will most likely do it in 5 games. Where as players ranked 11 or lower, (Especially 15-20) It will take a ton of luck to get that same result in 20 matches, and that is if they are facing against players of the same rank. There are many games where I die super fast because I am terrible at running from the killers and doing "loops" I am still practicing, but in the end game I see that I was the only Rank 15 against a Rank 6 Killer. It just really sucks. (And yes, I know you could say just go down the killer path instead, its just as hard, and I am worse at killers than survivor) New players don't have access to every perk, and every add-on or offering, whereas players that have been playing for a while, have access to a LOT of extra things to help them confirm their rewards and games. I (and many other noobs) have to play with just the few "decent" perks we have managed to scrape up, in a weird amalgam of a build, and hope to play our best. I'm sure people here this a lot, but I think the tomes need a re-work for the next time they are implemented.
