FLASHLIGHTS
I haven't played DBD in about a year or so and just started picking it up again over this past weekend. I've been playing as ghost face and encountered a flashlight user.
I had downed a survivor and picked her up and was looking at the ground. Another survivor was in front of me and had their flashlight on but I was still looking at the ground but was instantly blinded and dropped the survivor I was carrying and lost where they ran to.
Is this a new feature? Or has the flashlight always been this way and I just forgot?

You were in the pick up animation so its always possible to flash someone in that stage.
It is harder than it used to be and takes at least some correct timing on the survivors part now.

They could well have been using top tier addons for their flash light which may account for the speed you were blinded.

That was something I was wondering. Especially if they added new items or not. Good to know. Thanks for the info

Ah ok. It seemed like I was already out of it and still facing down but I'll have to keep that in mind for future games. Thanks.

No flashlight addons decrease the time needed to get the "Killer Blind" score event, the thing that makes the killer drop a survivor or remain fully blind after the beam is turned off.
There are however addons (the bulb ones and some of the lenses, purple flashlight also has some of it built in) that increase the "Brightness of the beam". They tend to make the "partial blindness" leading up to the full blind a lot harder to see through, and the visual effect builds up faster.

Hmmm. Maybe that's what I went up against. I mean it happened so fast it was almost instantaneous.

Yeah bulb flashlights can make you "feel" blind really fast, but they don't actually full blind you any faster than a yellow flashlight from a chest.
The only way a full blind can be achieved any faster is if 2 or more survivors flashlight you at the same time.

I'm not really an expert on flashlight addons, I don't use flashlights in general. I'm just aware that addons have differing effects but what you say makes sense, so i stand corrected. Either way an addon may have been the reason, or perhaps the survivor got lucky with the blind.

Got ya. It was just the one.
