The "Opposite" Effect of Archives

I don't know exactly how true this is for others, but it's something that I have to ask about. How many people find that Archives gives them the opposite effect within their games? For me, it's every single Archives mission.

There seems to be this miraculous streak of bad luck that I have where I pick an Archives mission and I just cannot seem to achieve it due to some sort of killer playstyle, teammate issue or just a series of random coincidences. "Heal X other survivors with Empathy and a Medkit", immediately get Plagues and Hillbillies with zero chance to heal. "Escape 4 times" literally tunnelled out of the game first, then just versing a stream of higher ranked and oppressive killers, where the team doesn't get past 2 gens remaining.

These are just two examples of what I have had to put up with for way too long. It's not ruining my enjoyment of the game, for the most part, but it's deeply frustrating. I've even had to resort to doing things that have lead to the deaths of other survivors just to ensure that I get my archives mission, something I'm not proud of, but don't regret.

I'm not going to say to the devs that something needs to be done about this, or anything like that, because there is nothing that can be done. Besides adding a way to skip missions. Instead, I just want to know if I'm not the only one unfortunate enough to get stuck with this curse. Or if anyone's found a way to get rid of it.

Yeah I feel your frustration. It happens to me especially when I decide between 2 challenges. If I take 12gen repair, killer sees me first and never lets me go, game finishes without me even touching a gen. Then I change it to pallet stun. And never even see the killer, do 4 gens by myself. Stuff like that.

I think its because we are being too focused to your challenges and even if that was normal game routine, when we couldn't achieve it asap, it causes frustration.

The thing is that I'm not even focused on the challenges that much. My latest example with the "Escape 4 times" challenge, I've already done one. I get on tonight and try to complete it. First game was a Legion who the survivors left me to reach second stage hook, then got tunnelled and missed my DS check because console. I did 2 gens and that was all that popped. After that, two Spirits who were just obnoxious to go against and wouldn't leave me alone, and a Trapper who just hated me. Just trying to play normally, and I get sweated on.

With challenges like the Empathy one, I just happen to get sent to killers who don't care about your health state. Didn't change how I played. Just meant that I was just in a game where my mission was literally impossible.

It doesn't change my play at all, but somehow it's near impossible every time.

To be honest, since the archives I just play to get them done fast, I choose only those that I will get done no matter what, and when something happens in a game I always choose the mission even if it means getting me killed or anybody else. So to be fair the real issue is that Archives quest are not good, they promote a very specific way to play (that sometimes it feels fun and other times is a boring fest) instead of asking for you to play the game, enjoy it and get a reward.

It would be a lot better if they follow the same concept of normal daily quest, they usually ask for you to do something for a while, and can do it in one match or in a lot of matches depending on you, wich is a lot better for a gameplay perspective than get this done in one match or finish 5 matches.
