Okay so... Totems

Something has to be done about totem spawns. They can be rearranged and tucked away multiple times but people will always learn the spots and go right to em every time. In the end, constantly adjusting totem spawns by tossing in another bush next to it will just be a waste of time.

So, hear me out, what if they implemented like 15 or 20 (might be a little drastic but you get my point) different potential totem spawns per map. So yeah, survivors might know all the spawns, but now they have so many different spots they are required to check, thus wasting more time.

Dont get me wrong, they should still be hidden pretty well instead of just chucked into the middle of a corn field, but this wouldn't require an adjustment every year. And it could potentially buy a killer more time for survivors away from gens, or even save their totem entirely.

Just allow Hex totems to relight to a random dull totem a minute or so after it was broken, barring Haunted Grounds, of course.

Totem spots are difficult to balance, especially because people do learn the spots. Look at maps like Badham Preschool - there's a lot of potential spots, but you can still find them. It does take longer on that map. That's really the only way to make sure they're all not bugged (unable to be cleansed, for example).

On the other hand, if you add so many spawning restrictions, it becomes easier and easier to find them as well. For example, if they never spawn in LOS of or near a generator, survivors know to never look there. It's a really tricky balance to find, and it's the reason totems are high risk, high reward.

I don't know exactly how many totem spawns there are on a map, but isn't that pretty much already the case? The five totems certainly don't spawn in the exact same places every time.

Except for the ones that are high risk, low reward. Mostly low reward because they notify survivors before they're ever really useful (i.e. lullaby, ruin, etc)

Obviously there's more than 5 spawn potentials on each map, but I'm basically saying if they littered the maps with possible places. So instead of checking the same 10 spots a totem could be (most being out in the open, at survivor spawn, or near gens) there are double the places you need to check, essentially wasting more survivor time running around or even just simply protecting your totems. Running totems in their current state is basically useless unless you're lucky to get the 3 maps with a few good spawn places, then also getting extra lucky enough to get one of those good spawns on said map.

Or just play Detective's Hunch Memory. I can't be asked learning all the spawns over and over again.

I think they did a really good job so far (since Lerry's rework) to make them more hidden.
