Do you show mercy against killers that do their best?

I have been playing a bit on both sides and I've just realised that killers sometimes let one survivor leave when they already won but I haven't seen any survivor let the killer hook them when they already won.

I don't understand because of the following:

  1. I encounter more survivors per match than killers, but it's only on the killer side.
  2. I have been in all ranks, but it seems like a standard unwritten rule that some killers follow despite the level of play (myself included)
  3. It's far more common in games that the killer just stomps through the survivors, but in the opposite case when one person loop and mind game the killer all game, it doesn't happen.

I follow the same unwritten rule when playing survivor, but doesn't feel the same when I outplay a killer. I think I don't feel like my skill is involved that much and it's more related to pure knowledge (where to go to create distance and how to run each structure clockwise or the opposite) so when I stomp a killer I don't realise that I did and because of that i don't usually give them a free kill.

I'm interested in what other players do so... tell me :D

Well, I have seen some Survivors stick around for the EGC timer to get them. I personally don't since I play solo, and surviving is hard enough. Especially since quite a few archives now are based around escaping.

I also don't usually let survivors go. If they've had some early DC's or I've completely demolished them, then I might leave one alive. By that point, and with my own playstyle of literally stalling out the game to a crawl, I have MORE than enough to pip.

yep, I definitely give a hook or a sacrifice to killers that just have a bad match

I once had a match with a huntress who was obviously new and kinda got stomped. To give them their due however, they really tried, without camping or tunnelling. This was before the EGT so my friend and I stayed and spent 20 or so minutes acting like a cross between whack a mole and a shooting range. When she started getting better at her shots we had her hook us.

If a killer is having an obvious hard time, I will occasionally stay and snag them some more points, but if they start face camping, imma punish by either just hanging there or getting gens done.

If two or more dc I'll hand myself over, its up to the killer if they want to farm or just take a free kill, and i don't begrudge them the latter. When it comes to farming, I will always try and get the killer to final hook me once the gates are open.

I just try to remember that the person behind the killer is another human being, and occasional kindness goes a long way.

If I go against a killer that is clearly a baby, yes I will stick around and give them a kill. I've seen other survivors do it too although its rarer than giving hatch.

I had 1 or 2 survivors actually walk up to me for a pitty kill. One was part of a high ranks swf i was forced to play against as a rank 15 back when reset pushed everyone back to 20.

The second was a survivor who wanted to farm as the last one stsnding. I wasn't a farmer and his team bodied me.
