It all makes sense now

So, with the new changes coming on this ptb, I think I understand the purpose of the ruin nerf now.

They did want to make a change to gen speeds, but without making it longer than 80 seconds if no slowdowns were added. They also wanted to encourage new players to learn the most important aspect of the game, looping. By removing the ruin skillchecks they made the generators something that is not that frustating and not requiring skill. So newer survivors would have o focus on getting better on another way. They wanted to encourage new players to learn how to loop, since with these new changes to base loops it requires skill and patience without making you untouchable on some maps.

The devs obviously want survivors to be able to loop killers for a while depending on your skill, but they also dont want you to be impossible to catch due to some loops being too easy and too effective. It takes much more skill to run an L T wall rather than the old ironworks of misery building

So basically, the ruin nerf was a necessary change, a change that wasn't for nothing due to the massive advantages it brought to the game. So now, maybe, many killer players (including myself) can agree that it was fine to sacrifice ruin for the health of the game

And many survivor players can now test their true skill at the changed maps to see how well they can run them and for how long they can stall the killer. Now you can maybe stop feeling guilty for running towards the rancid abattoir window every single time (of course if you didnt care then its fine it is your opinion after all)
