What TYPE Of Killer Are You?
Now, before you do the quick thing, I don't mean who do you main, I mean how do you play.
There is a large divide amongst the player base as to what is acceptable and what isn't. I'm disgusted by Chainsaw Spam and think that you should be using your mallet more since it's your WEAPON while Hillbilly players say that it's "high skill" for example.
But that's not what this is about. I want to know what type of killer you are.
The type of psycho you embody.
Are you a furious serial killer, who's only goal is the body count, piling up the bodies to peaks that will breach the heavens? Or a patient and careful observer, who waits for things to fall into place with well-placed traps or setting up the perfect 3-gen, setting off the demise of the survivors like a fully constructed mouse trap contraption?
Perhaps you're more like me. The sick and sadistic torturer. A hunter who stalks for the thrill of the hunt, rather than the spoils. Not out for the last breath, but for the screams that lead up to it. You die when I want you to die. You will beg for mercy, for a quick end, but it will never come. Your deaths will be drawn out because that is my design. For you to escape, you must earn it and sacrifice something of yourself. Slugged survivors are rare, but not uncommon with maybe one or two per match in the middle/towards the end. After all, what better way to draw out prey from a herd than to wound one of their own with what seems like relative safety? Or to punish those who would steal my catches from me. They can leave the hook, but you will take their place if you tempt me. Respect me and prove your worth, maybe you'll be able to leave and spread the word of what I have done.
For I am more than a killer, I am a predator. My generators are my prize and nobody can take that from me.
So! Probably don't need anything quite that detailed. But hey, if you want to go to this sort of place, please do. Within something like DbD, I do like some more dark fantasy and I have a horror movie addiction for lack of a better term.
Basically for me, I prefer stealth killers and don't really like Exposed. I'll never deliberately tunnel, targeting the unhooker if they do it in front of me and prefer to draw out my matches to the slowest pace possible. I will never camp, and if I'm still near you, I KNOW that another survivor is nearby because I saw them. Naturally counters DS and BT, plus does really well in the emblems system, and is really fun to me!
This playstyle tends to lean me more towards Pig, Legion and Doctor being my main 3 killers, but I also like reworked Freddy with his more control themed kit. Devour Deathslinger is something of a guilty pleasure for me too, but I haven't played that many games with him yet.
Not doing this for any real reason. Just a bit of fun, and to help me determine why there is such a divide in the Killer community about playstyle and balance opinions.

My main is Clown and i'm a Clown type killer too: pretending to be happy but deep inside i'm sad cuz of MM, 2nd chance perks, infinites, map size and bully squad SWF..... and gen speeds OFC

I'm the sort of killer who's going to try to out smart, out maneuver, and out plan the survivors. No overwhelming power for me, you can leave the chainsaws in the garage. Who might you see me as? Pig, Trapper, Legion, Nurse. Looking to add Wraith to my list and I suspect I'll like Hag once I get her.

I guess my usual playstyle leans more towards points and indirectly emblems than anything else, as I just want to interact with survivors while playing killer.
I want to chase, I want to outplay and get outplayed, that's my primary goal. It manifests in some clear ways as for example even at endgame I'll fish for hook trades over just camping someone to death for 1 kill, I'd much rather get 2 more hooks in and more gameplay even if they all escape in the end. Does it make me lose sometimes? Sure, but I enjoy the game more that way and feel like I improve.
Not sure what to call it, but I mostly play the game to have interesting chases.

Guess Im a memer

I always go for 12 hooks as killer if you can count that as a way of playing instead of 4man slugging everyone and just 1 hooking like some killers do..

I'm the Friendly Killer. When you get unhooked, I'll leave you be as long as you run. If your team seems to be struggling, I'll probably let at least one of you go. And if you're all nice, I might just let you all go. If you're trying for a challenge, I'll help as long as it doesn't prevent me from doing well. No Mither? No problem. As long as I've hooked you once, I'll probably let you go. If your teammates don't save you, it's definitely not my fault. I play nice -- but not TOO nice. If I see someone coming for the save, I will give chase. And if all three are coming for the save, then I'll defend the hook because all survivors are in one area.
I want the survivors to have a good time -- as long as I'm also having a good time. Good times all around. Be nice, play nice, and I'll do the same. That doesn't mean I won't hook you, down you, put an RBT on your head. But it wouldn't be fun, imo, if I didn't at least try. For you, or for me.

I'm more of a babysitter trying and failing to keep an eye on the four kids I've been charged with.

I am the type that wants to make friends and do gens and cleanse hex totems and open the gates so no one has to die. Well as long as the survivors are Shirtless Davids.

I am someone who loves progression and reward well played moves. I am very harsh to new or bad players thought cuz my intention is to bring the best out of them. I give sometimes good loopers the hatch or a escape or meme around with them sometimes, after a nice loop naughting at them from the other pallet or window.
But overall I am not that nice and kinda "tryhard" ingames, I slugg very often and that seems often very toxic to the survivors^^

Gimmicks. I prefer the builds that get jumpscares or unexpected reactions.
Wraith with no TR for gen grabs, or to stand invisible at a gen/totem and get a scare when someone shows up.
Myers with scratched mirror.
Insidious and Franklins so I can camp items, because NO ONE expects it.
I've played this game for far to long and care not to argue balancing that I now just play for laughs.

I am a jumpscare killer. I like it to scare the players. My favorite is the hag. I played a whole series with her "cant-teleport"-addons.
I boobytraped all the pallets, and when the survivor run at them there was the second hag that didn´t let them pass. With some, you could nearly see their panik ^^.
I also like Wraith and mayers, because they can just stand behind you before you notice them. I like that a lot more than just "you hear the terror radius, and warm up (mentaly) for a sprint with the killer.

I play like a person would play a videogame: I play it well. I don't get what you mean with this whole roleplay thing you're doing but I guess I would say I play fair and efficiently? I don't tunnel off the hook or camp because that's a boring playstyle and it's fun to have more interaction with other survivors instead of just camping 1 person til death

Brute force my guy. Only thing I care about is the body count.

the killer who is apparently terribly amazing to the game because I keep getting R1s even though I'm like a R10 and as such all my games are 3-4 escaped and there's nothing I can do about it. oh, and furious serial killer. that too.

I would probably best resemble ghostface from the movies
No not scream, the "scary movie" movies where he is stumbeling all over the place

If the game under my control i start killing after hooking everyone twice, If one of them are baby i may let him escape throw hatch.

I tend to play Bubba, Clown, and Pig at Rank 1 so I guess I'm a masochist killer. I don't always 4k, but when I do I love reading the excuses the SWF groups on how I ruined their game in the end game chat.

Im more like doctor I prefer play with preys mind. I would be one of those you will pray god for die instead of being tortured till I get bored of you 🤣

ermm I just play the game....

I play killer to get a break from being sweat on as a solo survivor...so I tend to try and just have fun. Try and get sneaky traps or trick hits. Mind game people. I don't sweat. If a match is going poorly for survivors, I go find something to do on the other side of the map to let them reset. Sometimes I play pig (usually for a daily) and pretend to be a survivor too. 😏 But I usually don't try and meme too much, as people get equally as mad when you don't try to kill them as when you do. 😂 I just try and create a match that feels challenging, but fun. A lot of the time I go into it with the idea that I'll try to maximize my points without killing anyone on my own. A lot of times I still pip. Mainly just try and be the change I want to see in the world. 😂

My playstyle is very much like yours. I say this with the understanding that I am still a new player. I might be at about 45 hours right now. I drove Bubba to 50, at first to get his teachables. I kept him up longer than I expected because he seemed easy to farm blood points with. I figured I'd branch out more after the Blood Rush event ends. My favorite has actually been Freddy, and I've had my best matches with him.
I am pretty much on a mission to help ease the toxicity and hyper-aggressiveness this community is known for. The problem is, I feel I can only be as cool as the survivors let me be. That is to say some days it's been easy to "play fun," where the survivors and I go back and forth the whole time. After the first few days, I realized I averaged far more points by "playing fun," than I did by playing aggressively. Sure, I'd get a few sacrifices. I might get a 4k. Those matches ended up being one-sided and far too short. In the long run, I was able to make more points overall by having the "give and take" with the survivors and having long, drawn-out matches.
Typically, the only camping I'm likely to do is proximity camping because let's face it, that makes more sense than body blocking in the immersion sense. Plus, it's a pain to run clear across the map only to discover most everyone was near the hooked survivor in the first place. Still, I don't go after the people just unhooked. I do wave my weapon at them or something in the hopes they will notice I saw them and then chose to do something else. I don't know if this works or not, but I try. If they are the only ones, I can find, though, I end up with fewer options. To prove a point, there have been plenty of times where I'd drag someone to a hook for the third hook and just drop them on the floor and run away, expecting them to get healed. I don't do it to "slug," but I do it to let everyone farm points. I've even carried someone to the exit and let them wiggle free and flee when I've had a great match.
Ultimately, it comes down to the survivors how "fun" I can be and the more I feel like I have control of the map, the easier it is to decide to just "have fun."
I'm going to continue to play how I enjoy it. I'm a horror film fanatic. I like to play hide and seek. I like to get my few hits in. I like to get a few hooks in. Occasionally, I like to kill someone. I do main killers, after all. However, I can play a relaxed killer or I can be hyper-aggressive as well. I'd simply prefer everyone have some fun. Win some, lose some, ya know? I just don't always feel like that is within my control.
I'll keep pushing for and promoting the "fun" style. I will accept any advice to that end. Let's face it... if everyone quits or stops playing one side, then no one gets to have fun.
TL;DR: I prefer to play with my food and it's okay if I go hungry now and then. If that goes on too long, however, everyone gets eaten.

I play like rank doesn't matter.
I'll hunt the weaker survivors, I'll hit you off the hook, I'll eat that DS, I'll slug everyone if they let me.
Sometimes I'll let you crawl on the ground and beg for death by spinning at a hook.
Sometimes I'll destroy the obvious toxic 2-man and let the others finish gens.
It depends on my mood, but I like hooking survivors most.

You sound like a real sweaty #########.

The kind that hooks one survivor who then gets unhooked while istand in the middle of the map cause I know the survivors are tea bagging at the exit gate

The word you're looking for is "Killer"

I can sense new bee survivors a mile off. If I think I'm up against one I'll let them go in favor of using every dirty trick in the book against the rest.
Got to look after our new player base. More new players retained = more revenue stream for behaviour to develop new content for us = more players in the queue = more matches for us

I am in the minority, I play NO-KILLS KILLER most often.
I come in hard and hit and hook everyone as quickly as possible.
Slow down and second hook, gen kick, "hit it and quit it" chases, break pallets
By this time people are figuring out I am not going for kills.
But keep em guessing with aggressive chases and gen kicks
Once all point catagories are at 100%, they are free to go.
Although I still chase em around so they get points.
Once door are open I just wander off and let em leave typically.
<NOTE> If I get flashlighted, I will kill that guy. I hate flashlights, I don't even use them as a survivor.

I'm not a particularly sweaty killer. I'm just a killer who enjoys the chases.

It's not really a role-play thing. It's more of a categorisation, much like the killers of DbD. While they're generally stereotyped as Chase/Stealth/Tracking, I'm looking at this in a sense of Body count/Hunter/Mastermind sort of stereotypes.
I did say that role-play is optional, though. I like to play a bit of DnD and some of the Warhammer 40k rpg's, so I kinda like a little bit of dark fantasy and occasionally use it within something I write.

I narrate what is happening on the match for some reason, but if I see an annoying survivor I will be an annoying killer, if the match is chill and fun I usually give the hatch to the last survivor, if I use STBFL I will abuse it to the very best, have a survivor on death hook, tunnel him/her just to get DS'ed then go for the other 3 survivors and kill the obsession last.
I know it's a douchy move but sometimes I just gotta do it to win.

I'm a killer that likes to play with his food: I try to not kill them fast so I can enjoy chasing my hopeless prey. When they give up I look deeply into their, sad and hopeless, eyes and give them what they want: the hatch: "gg, I loved chasing you"

Yep yep me too also I’m a clown shark costume with jaws theme during chase kinda killer

I enjoy the thrill of the chase more than anything. I like long chases and the sweet satisfaction of finally throwing my axe into their back and downing them as huntress or getting that 1 hit down with ghost face with just seconds left on the timer. I'm normally a friendly killer too, and will let the last dude go if I just slaughtered the other 3. Unless toxic then then the lust for blood inside me kicks in and I'll try my hardest to absolutely devastate them haha

I enjoy simplistic Killers, and by that I mean Wraith and Deathslinger. Their abilities are simple to understand and to use, at least for me. I also play around differently depending on the Killer.
Wraith for example is "pressure". Surveillance and Ruin to let me chase Survivors immediately and not worry about kicking (Ruin pops randomly for me. Some games its gone immediately, other games I have it the whole game) Infectious Fright to help me catch nearby clickies, and BBQ to help me find slugged Survivors and get me extra Bloodpoints.
Deathslinger is more about catching off guard and power utilization. M&A to let me sneak up on my prey, Infectious to catch the clicky, Unrelenting in case I cant get a hit from my reel, and Deerstalker since I find myself slugging A LOT with him
General Killer I'm more of an "anything goes". Some games I just steamroll, other games I need to slug. I try not to tunnel, not out of any moral high ground but more because it's boring for me as a Killer. That being said if its late game, I know where hatch is and hooking you after you were just unhooked gets you out of the game so I can close that hatch, well truth is the game was rigged from the start.
I will also tunnel you with the fury of the Entity if you are a Quentin player. Not for any reason against you, I just find joy in Mori-ing Quentins. Like, SO MUCH joy. I don't even know why, but generally once I mori the Quentin I tend to just go through the motions for everyone else. Best game though was 4 Quentins.
