How to fix Pig's scoring events and her ambush attack
The Pig gets a lot less deviousness points in trials than other killers and I think that's because her scoring events are bad and outdated. For example, killing someone with an RBT awards you 500 points in the sacrifice category and absolutely zero points in the deviousness category. Killing someone with a mori or a sacrifice both give you 1000 sacrifice points total, and it awards you even more if it happens during the EGC. RBT's are the pig's special killer power and yet they still don't give her any deviousness points when they actually do their job. Solution? Give her 1000 sacrifice and 1000 deviousness points for the game over scoring event instead of just 500 sacrifice points.
A pretty big issue with the Pig is that her ambush is really bad for actually ambushing without the video tape addon, and even with that addon grabbing someone off a gen is a lot more rewarding then hitting them with the ambush attack. So I think Pig needs a scoring event for hitting/grabbing someone during a short window of time she gets after she comes out of stealth. This would award her maybe 100 - 300 deviousness points.
Another aspect of Pig that seems outdated is the lack of scoring for removing an RBT or failing an RBT box search. Deathslinger gets points for when a survivor breaks the chain and Plague gets points when the survivors cleanse, so why not give Pig points for when a survivor removes an RBT? This number could be tied to how long they had it on, how much time was left on the timer or could just be a set amount that never changes.
The last thing I want to talk about is changes to her base kit. Her ambush attack is useless for an actual ambush and very hard to use at loops, so I think we could use one or two of these four suggestions:
- Add the Video Tape addon to her base kit. Video Tape reduces her ambush charge time (the amount of time she roars for before she starts her attack) and also reduces her ambush attack cooldown. Often when I use Video Tape it feels less like I'm getting extra benefits from an addon and more like I'm finally getting to use her ambush as it was intended. This feeling exists because her base charge time and miss cooldown is too long and punishing to get use out of it.
- Piggy only roars after her attack is fully charged and not before. This is probably my least favorite idea out of the four since no one would like having such a short warning for her ambush attack and it would remove the Pig's ability to "oink" while crouched.
- Pig's roar audio isn't directional. It wouldn't give too much information away but it would still give the survivor time to respond. Imagine you're repairing a generator at a L-wall jungle gym when you hear the Pig's ambush roar. Since there is no directional audio that gives away her exact position, the survivor has to make a guess. It would be safest to run to the pallet, but what if the Pig has predicted that and hidden on the other side of the short wall next to the pallet? If she did that then she can hit them before they drop the pallet. Predicting your opponents like this is what seperates higher skill players from lower skill ones.
- Pig's speed during her dash is increased. Pretty simple, make up for the time you lose during her roar by closing the distance faster. It could definitely help her win the race to the nearest pallet/window that occurs versus a Pig, it'd just require less skill and prediction on her part.
I think that with these scoring and some of the suggested ambush changes, the pig could be a lot more fun and rewarding to play. I'd really appreciate any feedback about my suggestions, so let me know your thoughts.
