Survivor Concepts: Eliot Mckellan and Father Lucas Doyle
Eliot McKellan:
Journal Entry:
I met a kind face during the trials . He was a polite and quiet soul, nearing the edge of boyhood. We stayed together throughout the trial, working to power the exit gates. To my surprise, he seemed to have quite some knowledge of an internal combustion engine. To make matters even better, he was willing to teach me as we repaired. In what felt like no time, we were able to escape together. No amount of thanks could show my gratitude for him. I only wish that I asked for his name.

On the left of his coat’s chest is a name tag patch that reads “McKellan”.
Eliot’s other clothing options include a black t-shirt that says “Gasser Garage” in white letters with an image of a hotrod doing a burnout on the front. Lore:
For as long as Eliot can remember, it was always just him, his mother, and his grandfather. His father left them before he could even crawl, but that didn’t seem to matter. His grandfather had more or less fulfilled the father figure in his life, passionately passing on his automotive hobby to Eliot. Eliot and his grandfather would spend hours in the garage, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining his grandfather’s 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. Sometimes, when they went out for a drive, Eliot’s grandfather would let him drive the old muscle car around an empty parking lot. His grandfather promised him that the car would be his the day he turned sixteen. Unfortunately, an inevitable day came sooner than expected.
A month before Eliot turned sixteen, his grandfather passed suddenly and unexpectedly. Overcome with grief, Eliot would spend almost entire days alone in the garage, sobbing over the memories with his grandfather. He started wearing his grandfather’s old military jacket in an attempt to feel close with him again. His introverted nature combined with his grief prevented him from seeking help from his friends and mother.
Eliot’s mother knew he was spiraling out of control. Fearing she would lose him, she gave him the keys to the car that was promised to him a week before his sixteenth birthday and allowed him to drive alone, despite only having a learner’s permit. The gift seemed to work. Eliot seemed happy for the first time in weeks. When he got in the car, he knew where he wanted to go. There was an old, seldom used trail that he and his grandfather liked to hike. They could never make it to the end of the trail and he always wanted to reach it. It was only ten minutes outside of Ashland and he and his mother knew he would only be gone for an hour or two.
But when Eliot didn’t come home for the night, his mother frantically drove out to find him. When she arrived at the trail, she found his car parked on the side of the road with footprints leading into the woods and none coming out. The police searched the area for over a week but found nothing. Against her wishes, they called off the search.
Father Lucas Doyle:
Journal Entry:
When I first saw him, he startled me. Seeing those black robes in this realm, I assumed they belonged to a monster. But then I saw his face. His courageous yet timid expression as he watched a poor soul being put on a hook. This was a man of God, not murder. Behind his glasses, I saw a flame of determination grow within his eyes as the monster left the man to hang. With a burst of confidence, the priest ran to the hanging man, and pulled him off. The three of us scattered as our hearts pounded, the monster returning to the disturbed sacrifice.

Lore:
Before he was Father Lucas Doyle, he was “Mad Luke” the village drunk. His drunken outbursts had scared off his family, leaving him a lonely and empty man. He spent years wasting away in pubs and filling his emptiness with liquor. But one fateful day changed his life. It was a Sunday afternoon when he was stumbling his way home. Passing by the village church, something inside him told him to go in. There, Lucas found God and purpose.
Lucas joined the priesthood and became a changed man. His story moved congregations to tears. He preached of forgiveness, healing, and values. He vowed to be a better person everyday for the rest of his life. But a deep longing lingered in his mind. A longing to reconnect with his family.
After several years of contemplating, he found the courage to write to his wife and children. For weeks he waited with no response. Finally, one came. His daughter wanted to see him. Against her mother’s wishes, she asked Lucas to come meet her at her college in London. Lucas was excited. London was a four hour train ride away, but the trip would be worth it.
After getting off of a connecting train, Lucas just had to wait for the last train to London. He was so close. Excitement had been building inside him for the past two and a half hours. Suddenly, an old woman had slipped off the platform and onto the tracks. The tracks began to rumble as the train began to approach the station. Without thinking, Lucas jumped down and boosted the woman back onto the platform. A piercing horn came over his ears as the train came barreling towards him. Lucas closed his eyes and prepared for the impact.
To his surprise, all he felt was a gentle wind. Upon opening his eyes, he was met with a dark forest misted with an odd, black fog. In the distance he could make out the dancing flames of a campfire. A glimmer of hope shined in his heart as he approached, hoping to find some refuge. But he would soon discover the realm he had entered would be worse than any hell he could have imagined.
