I think I'm done with this game.
When this game works as intended, it can be a blast. But I just can't anymore with this matchmaking system. The B.S. that new players have to contend with is ridiculous. Here are two examples from tonight's games. It doesn't take much to realize why many new players like myself are writing this game off altogether.

You’re a new killer. Nooooo killers are super OP atm. Maybe some of them need buffs, but not trapper 😂😂😂😂
2 -
They are not op. Especially Trapper need buffs.
23 -
Whoa definitely not. Trapper is one of the better killers. He’s anti loop. He Trap loops, Traps vaults, he’s fast. Noooooo. Clown and plague need a buff.
5 -
It takes a decent amount of time to set uo a trap. Also he cant carry that many traps so he have to waste ALOT of time with collecting traps and setting them up. If survivors are smart they wont step in traps that easily.
21 -
depends on the map too
1 -
If I recall, matchmaking is no longer based on your rank. The reasoning is that rank gauges what you do rather than how well you play. Or something. They're working on a more point based mm system atm. Idk when it'll be available.
1 -
Guys, what are you talking about? The OP's concern is with the matchmaking. Don't hijack the thread to debate the strengths of killers.
Yes, OP, the matchmaking sucks, atm. Supposedly they have a plan to fix it, but we will have to wait and see. I wouldn't hold your breath.
34 -
but who’s running an anti trap perk when he hides them in good spots to see that? A good trappers going to use whispers to give him the info someone’s nearby anyways.
0 -
If they're going based on how you play, then I can certainly guarantee I don't play on the same level as a rank 1!
6 -
Trapper is mid-tier at best. Good survivors will be able to tell where he's likely to put traps, and high rank teams almost always have one OoO, which completely neuters him
4 -
Damn that sucks dude. I have a hard time with those kinds of perks and I have every killer with all of the best perks. Been playing for 3 years and survivors give me a hard time with their second chances they're handed
3 -
Yeah this was my latest match. I'm done. Goodbye DBD. You were fun, but seriously, f*** your matchmaking system.
8 -
Um...ok? Dude you got second place. Sacrificing survivors may technically be your primary objective, but that's still only a quarter of the game. Although, being a Legion main might be affecting what I consider to be fun...
1 -
Killing the survivors is the Killers entire objective. It says so in the tutorial.
7 -
It's very unfortunate that you have experienced this matchmaking. The person that said that the MM that we have now is based on skill hasn't happened yet. I could be wrong though. Hopefully you can give DbD another try in the future. Have fun somewhere else.
3 -
Plague is WAY stronger than Trapper. She needs no buffs.
3 -
Everyone needs a break from this game every now and then. It’s known that matchmaking has been busted :/
0 -
Play apex and you will see what horrible matchmaking is lol
0 -
Oul with it, I agree it does suck but eventually you'll get better, I also out myself in the mentality that I don't care if I lose that much I try to be better.
2 -
If that were truly the case, you'd have earned nothing. This game is point based. You do well, you earn points. Why else would it order the survivors by how many points they earned. You earn points for upgrading your characters. Higher levels, better stuff. If you stick with Trapper, there's an add-on that makes it so that anyone that escapes your traps without assistance goes into the dying state. There's even one that makes it so every 30 seconds, one of your closed traps resets itself so you don't have to. All of these require blood points. So that's how I gauge victory.
Unless that stupid Dwight tea bags at me every time he drops a pallet and clicks that flashlight at me. Then the only victory is making sure his insides decorate the countryside...
But other than that, yeah, blood points.

Don't give up. Just because they're at a 1 or a 4, and you're at a 17 or whatever, don't mean they're better. I was a 13 yesterday, and got matched up with a rank 1 survivor, and like a rank 9 killer, and made it out alive, while the rank 1 survivor died, and I'm now at rank 12. (:

Yeah thats a 4 man swf with those ranks and 4 flashlights. No offense but i seen all those flashlights in lobby i would've dodged so fast.
4 -
I'd have to disagree. In order to remain at a lower level you have to be consistent at playing well. Plus when you're a new player like me, there are exploits that more experienced gamers are familiar with that turn the fun factor way down for newer players like myself. Perfect example: body blocking. It's hard enough when you are the killer in a SWF match, but it's even worse when those very survivors are throwing themselves in front of you to prevent you from being able to hook someone.

Fast?

I'm afraid the new match making won't stop either side to have this kinda games. My understanding is that you get more points if you play against higher skilled survivors. If high skilled/ rank killers won't queue up, then the matching will add a lower skill killer to the lobby. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

He’s just as fast as anyone else. He often appear to catch up to your butthole quickly because STBFL is a popular perk on him.

4 ds,sure looks like its not a broken crutch perk at all
1 -
I've never played killer. I'm a survivor kind of girl. I've heard playing killer is hard. I'll leave that to the pros. I play better as a survivor. I won't say I've never gotten super angry with the game but I'm never giving up. My main is Kate Denson. I'm in the process of using all her good stuff up, and starting her over. You have to take the good with the bad.

Yes trapper is mid tier. Some of the great trappers are scary but even sometimes they go an entire match without catching someone in a trap.
As for the OP. I don't play the game anymore. I still browse the forums to see people cry about stuff like NOED and BBQ but I only hop on after a new dlc or chapter update drops. Then after the hype dies down I go back to whatever else I was playing. The devs would really have to overhaul this games balance if they want me to come back.
2 -
This game is unbalanced & the matchmaking is bad. I won't encourage anyone to play killer. If you can't find fun in playing survivor, then it is how it is.
1 -
This post is about matchmaking and you use it to again complain about how op killers are. Like what the hell? This post didn't have anything to do with balance.
Also, no killer is really op at the moment. If you think killers are op, it's because of matchmaking or because you are not that good at survivor.
3 -
1. I dont seethe problem. Isnt that just a normal game in matchmaking (kappa)
2.
Wait. I've seen you on here before, and I would HIGHLY disagree with a plague buff. She just got a free pool of wine to drink from at the start. I think she might need a rework soon, but not a buff.
1 -
How are they supposed to fix mm? If it pulls out the closest players to your rank and puts them in your game, logically you're not going to always get rank 18 all the time. Especially if it's to be expected that these same players will be ranking up as they play.
You guys just want bots.
0 -
Not if The trapper is smart in picking up and placing, and doesnt just WANDER the map looking for traps.
0 -
In a game where none of them were likely used. Thats like saying NoEd is a crutch perk after destroying 5 totems and still dying.
1 -
i agree clown and plague need a buff i dont use them because i find them useless, i use trapper a lot so if he was buffed id be unstopable so maybe not a good idea. now onto what you were on about the match making aaaaaah the match making nightmare rears its head again, i think they are working on a fix burt dont know when
0 -
The downside about all of this is that there is fun to be had, but swf and exploits like body blocking make this game a nightmare for new players.
1 -
Which is why the game shouldn't be matching you with season levels, but instead player levels. I just started playing the game last week, and there's no way that another player with a season level of 1-10 happens to be on the same player level as me.
And yes bots may make the game easy, but it's a better option for newer players instead of being thrown into a game that you don't know how to play. The devs did that for Friday the 13th, so I see no reason why the same couldn't be possible for DBD.
1 -
Playing killers are weak and start at a disadvantage every game. Trapper does need a buff
1 -
You get bloodpoints based on the items you use and your actions. Just because I managed to check off a lot of things that gave me blood points doesn't mean I came in "second place". This isn't call of duty. The ranking system isn't built like that. You either killed survivors or they escaped.
1 -
I feel your pain. I like the game to much to quit, but damn it's frustrating when 75% of your matches are like this. Ignore what killer and perks I used, and just focus on the ranks people. I'm hopeful that they fix match making some how, and make it so that matches are challenging, but somewhat fair for both sides as far as skill level is concerned.
2 -
Yours was probably and SWF group. Though I've been rank 6 solo and gotten all rank 17-20 teammates and killer lol.
1 -
I have also given up on playing killer. We aren't currently in a world for people to learn killer unfortunately.
2 -
The game is heavily biased towards giving killers higher-rank survivors in my experience. I made a post in suggestions showcasing this problem, every single game across an entire night was with most players being 5-7 ranks ahead of me no matter how many were online. AS long as 1 person is near my rank it thinks its valid that the other 3 can be anybody.
The game even seems to remember when you were in a lobby with specific people, and if they are still searching for a game it will keep putting you with them. I've seen the game put me in a lobby with the same 4-man SWF up to 8 times in a row, where I just don't want to play because they were d/c'ing whoever got hit early to deny me points.
Doing anything to balance matchmaking would be considered anti-survivor and anti-SWF though so don't worry it's never getting fixed. Nothing can dare hurt the survivor cash-cow.

I've mained Trapper for almost three years. He is NOT anti-loop. He is pure hit and miss on map, gen and pallet layout. If you don't have a bag, you are hosed many times. Typical trapper match is spawn, set trap within 8m of spawn point at a loop/vault. Move to grab nearest trap. Move to nearest loop/vault/gen set trap. POP! Gen done! Look for nearest trap, retrieve trap POP! Gen done! SNAP! First trap disarmed.
Yeah, Trapper is completely hosed unless he gets a group that does not know hot to handle him. Trapper needs 2 things: 1. To carry an extra trap without the bag addon while being able to retrieve unset traps from lockers; 2 Darken the traps a bit. They are too easy to see unless buried in grass. Unfortunately, all decent survivors know to avoid or check out grass in your area before doing anything. Trapper is mostly an M1 killer and way too dependent on builds.

Add ons to make traps set faster are very common and so are add ons that make you carry 2 or 3 traps at a time!

DS is not a broken crutch perk at all. There is only one aspect of that perk that annoys me. If I've not tunneled all game and have pressured gens, I could face punishment for not being a toxic azzhat. I get down to 2 survivors, the 5th gen pops. I down one of the 2 remaining survivors near a door. Hook them, they get rescued and I have a choice of hitting the injured survivor in hopes of getting one more kill, or going for the fresh one who will be out the door before I can catch up again. Hit the injured, get DS'ed. DS should be disabled once the 5th gen is done. At that point, it is no longer a tunnel situation, all bets are off.
As for the BS crying about it being a crutch perk, I say get over it. If killers tunneled less, there would be no DS issue. I rarely play survivor and don't run DS. I get tunneled non-stop. I should run it, but I hate one-time-use perks. If DS is a broken crutch perk, so is NOED, Ruin, Chili, NC, and M&B (especially on Deathslinger). Sorry, but none of them are. The closest thing to a clutch perk is NOED when used by a player who sucks at chasing and relies on easy downs in the end. Most of the time NOED is a great end-game-build perk. I've seen plenty of killers finally drop it as a normal part of their build only to get much better at chasing and gen pressure. Even then, I don't consider it a crutch perk. No such thing in this game.

I KNOW!!! The game can be so much fun to play but it can also be a kick in the nuts!!!😂 And I personally don't care for that over and over again! LOL

Literally every bloodpoint category for Killers is primarily filled by killing survivors.
Brutality: Hitting survivors gives TRIPLE the bloodpoints of damaging props
Deviousness: 90% of Killer powers are used to hinder survivors in some way, and you get a whopping 2.5k bonus for killing everyone
Hunting: Self-explanatory. Find and down survivors, get points.
Sacrifice: Literally the entire category is based around survivors dying

Can't blame you.
