Killer Shrine

So I have an idea for a killer shrine that would spawn on the map. It isn’t interactive, but it is animated. Basically it would serve a function for the killer similar to a hex totem, but it cannot be broken. Instead, it is tied to generators being completed. This would be an additional selection the killer makes before each game, different types of effects that the shrine would have on gameplay.

For example, maybe one effect the killer could place on the shrine might be that with each generator completed, the killer’s speed would get a very slight buff.

Another might be that with each done gen, survivors repair speed would be slowed slightly.

Another might be that generator regression would increase by a certain percentage.

Another could be that the killer’s terror radius decreases for each gen done. (Good for stealth killers)

You could maybe even have a killer specific one that only that killer could use, such as nurse would gain distance or speed for her blinks, spirits phasing speed could increase, and so on.

Overall, it would be an extra feature to augment the gameplay and make each match just a little more unique. I think the shrine should be specific to the choice the killer picks so that survivors in-game could see it and identify what shrine the killer is using.

What do y’all think?

    Either the effects need to be negligible at best or Survivors are gonna need some spicy buffs. Neat idea though.

    This

    In concept it's a good idea, but if there is no way to stop it then it becomes much stronger than it seems on paper.

    I think it sounds like a cool idea but I can imagine it just turning the meta toward 99'ing gens. With Ruin or some other gen regression it might not be that bad, but I hate when people become overly-reliant on a perk, because that's how things like the big Ruin debacle start.

    Sounds like a fun idea. Maybe have it spawn in the basement in the opposite corner of where the chest spawned, and its appearance reflects the buff it gives to the killer. Also, here are some numbers for each effect that I think would be balanced without many other changes.

    Movement Speed Shrine: +.2% movement speed for every gen that gets completed.

    Generator Regression Shrine: +10% regression speed for every gen that gets completed.

    Terror Shrine: Terror radius decreases by 1 meter for every gen that gets completed.

    Small numbers, but they can still make a difference.

    To me there are great possibilities with the killer specific ones.

    Huntress can carry one additional hatchet.

    Hag can place one additional trap.

    Bubba can camp one additional survivor.

    Yea, I won't lie this is at least pretty close to a realistic answer.

    Obviously survivors can steamroll most killers anytime they want if they really feel like it (by going into a queue with friends in SWF) which isn't good but there are a lot of other changes that are being made right now to balance the game to be more fair for killers already. Reworks for many problematic maps are coming out, breakable walls are slowly being implemented across all maps, there are probably a few more buffs / reworks at least in conceptual stages in the works for really terrible killers like the Clown, The Pig, Leatherface, etc. (the Clown especially, please buff Clown), so I don't think a big move like this where you implement a whole new mechanic like the Killer Shrine would be necessary, at least now.

    Like the devs said in their latest stream, you don't want to change too many things at once because then it becomes more difficult to distinguish what is having an effect on what or what's creating a problem or is a really good change they made, when they've introduced like 5 new really big changes at once. As it stands there are a lot of new things happening right now at least

    But I will agree it is a neat idea. I'd like to see new unique mechanics on par with Hex: Totems which were introduced oh so long ago in 2016 to be introduced now to shake up the meta a little bit more than the average killer rework or new killer does.

    I’d agree for sure that right now would be a bad time to implement an idea like this. They’d have to wait for the next licensed killer release or something like that.

    Exactly. Nothing game breaking, but just a little extra pressure. On the survivor side, some better offerings would be nice, like how’s about an offering to make more pallets spawn, and killer can have one to make less pallets spawn?

    How many pallets are we talking? Stacking 4 of those could be a nightmare for the Killer lol

    Brown = 1

    Green = 2

    Yellow = 3

    Purple = 4

    and any combination greater than 4 would equal a Red and be 5. I think any more than that would be out of hand, but it’d be a popular killer offering as well.

    I like your spawn placement idea. That’d be a great spot for it. Survivors would have to explore the basement to find out what they are up against, which could lead to maybe a better perk than huntress notification perk.
