Are there any plans to introduce a casual mode and would it be a good or bad addition?
Im sure there have been a few posts talking about this but i haven't seen one in a while so i was wondering if there were any new developments since the mid-chapter patch.
Personally, I'm not a fan of every game putting your rank on the line. Now don't get me wrong, I am aware that rank doesn't mean as much nowadays and will be even less so once mmr is introduced, but I would however like a mode where I can go in with a new low level killer that I maybe don't have all the good add-ons or perks unlocked to practice and level up abit. To ensure that DBD is still what I love (A sweaty competitive game) I have an idea to still encourage ranked gameplay.
For ranked games, where you are actually putting your rank at risk (sweaty 4 man SWF with an OoO, key, and good loopers on red forest for example, not a complaint just a fact that this is difficult to play against) you earn more blood points. Now, whether its you earn 90% or something of the current bloodpoints in casual matches or you earn more bloodpoint than the current average in the ranked mode is up to the devs, but I feel that DBD should have some form of casual game mode. I get that the game was designed the way it is for a reason, but with matchmaking how it is and mmr actually being introduced, I feel a chill environment where you dont have to be toxic and dont have to use the top tier stuff and can generally just mess around would be a great addition to the game. It's mostly why, in my opinion, games like overwatch, rainbow six, league of legends and other games that have both a ranked and casual mode are a success. Theres a place to go where you can just HAVE FUN in a game and the only thing you are losing at the end is one single game. No emblems to worry about, no pips, no goal, no win condition. Just playing the game. No worrying about deranking because a killer face camped you, no worrying about a sweaty survivor team. I feel like it would not only help with toxicity because you're Losing your in game stat but it also gives people a place to relax. Now of course casual mode won't be perfect straight away there will still be people using the strong stuff either to practice or to tryhard for the win, but then who cares? What did you lose really?
Yea a casual mode might influence ranked ques even more, but that's why I suggest some sort of incentive like a blood point bonus or perhaps a reward for ranks themselves. League of legends has a system where if you reach the gold rank (top 30% of players i believe) then you recieve a special cosmetic at the end of the ranked season.
Casual mode should imo be based off rank and not mmr, so that you still don't feel compelled to obliterate and prove you are better.
My concept for this kind of cosmetic would be a purple rank requirement, and something like this:
Names:
Killer, "Bloodlust Reward"
Survivor, "Hopeful Reward"
The rewards could alternate between body, head, and weapon/item cosmetics that have a special effect, similar to that of the legacy skins. Something to chase after, ya know? It would be a good incentive, and bonus bloodpoints for it being a ranked match could be great too.
Give your thoughts on the matter if you want, and an up vote so more interaction is encouraged would be appreciated!
Thanks yall
