Does reporting even matter
Video just for reference. Was gonna just trim down to the end part, but thought the full video had a lot of info. I had gotten caught the first time cause they lead him to me. All three of them. Oh well. I still ranked up lol.
But I've got a few thoughts from this match.
1. Does anything ever happen from reporting people?
And
2. I should be able to DC from a farming match without repercussions. But instead I had to play it out and get this ending so I didn't ruin these poor player's experience.

thats #########. i wish there was a place on the forum where you could post videos like this or chat logs to help the people get banned faster

In answer to your first question, yes things do happen from reports if they are reported using the proper procedures (a report in-game, and then a Support ticket with any additional evidence - unless the report is for chat abuse, in which case the Support ticket isn't needed).
People get banned at the speed that the team are able to sort through the reports, regardless of how much additional evidence is available. Additional evidence will help with getting a player banned, but not with the speed of the ban, and only if it is submitted through the appropriate channel (i.e. a Support ticket).

What's the sense of in game reporting if you also require a support ticket? Why isn't only the support ticket required? Makes no sense to me how the in game function means so little if you ALSO require a support ticket for it to even be looked into.
7 -
This is just a guess and I could be completely wrong, but logically you'd have to report them in game to prove that the match happened recently and that you're not blackmailing someone. Sending a support ticket is just for additional info.

When you report them in game the devs are given the users platform ID and chat logs.
For certain things a separate ticket is not needed such as chat abuse as they have the logs.
For other things within the game like someone abusing a glitch or a potential cheater this report doesn't give that Information so you have the ticket system which allows you to attach a video of the game showing the end game name and bringing up the players profile within it so they have all the evidence to take appropriate action.

Doesn't make an enormous amount of sense to me either, but I don't have the technical knowledge to know how viable improving it would be, and I doubt the Support team like cross-referencing reports very much either, so I imagine if there were an easier way with the way their servers are set up, they would already be doing it.

I'm on Xbox and the only option you can do is just report them. There's no box for comments or anything. You just hit the thumbs down and select a category then that's it. That's mostly why I feel nothing happens from bans, at least across consoles.
2 -
The reason that we ask for an ingame report is to actually prove that the match took place first of all, the support ticket is required for actual proof that something occurred which is why we ask for video evidence as much as possible. And this goes for all platforms, reports from all platforms are considered but without proof of something happening - we cannot take action.
1 -
The Support ticket and additional evidence has to be submitted separately, regardless of what platform you're on, so the comment box makes very little difference. In some ways, it's slightly more of a pain on console because you have to upload the video through your console and then copy the link onto a computer or phone to submit the ticket, but on the other hand, consoles record gameplay automatically in a way that most PCs don't, so actually getting the footage in the first place is easier.

No not really. BHVR won't ban anyone unless you go send an Email with evidence, which is really stupid. I shouldn't have too send an email just too get a clear hacker banned. No other company does this and it's dumb as hell. Better off just blocking the account and moving on.

Since reporting and showing proof are in two different areas, where might one submit evidence? And if they're separate, does this mean reporting in game doesn't really do anything since nothing can be done without evidence but you can't attach evidence to the report? Because if there is video evidence then the match took place.
1 -
@OperationMintyHippo you need to submit evidence to Support, usually that's going to be in the form of video evidence - to show exactly what you are reporting, someone exploiting/hacking etc. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426 - that's the support address.
Right now, we don't have a way to be able to "save" matches, which is why we require the video evidence - we take the in game report to show that the match actually took place and was a live match (not a kyf match or anything). And for chat offences, an in game report is sufficient because we have the chat logs then and your report flags that log for the ACM's to review.

I agree that the process is confusing and could be streamlined. I would however prefer that Huntress’s deviousness points, Hillbilly’s adjustments, and Wraith’s bing bong gets fixed first.

I just wish the report process was a lot easier. It took me 15 minutes to even file a report, because I needed my steam profile link, his steam profile link, my ingame cloud ID that I can't even copy out of the game so i needed to write it down and then type it in again. And all the other stuff.
It's just pointless to even make a report in my opinion because it takes so d*mn long to even make one. I moved on from reporting people for serious stuff (like abusing bugs), unless they tell me to kill myself or to die from a disease (and of course my whole family too)...

A simpler way of reporting is something we would all like @GraveHunter hopefully these things will come, I can't say for sure it will happen but it's definitely I something would personally like.

You want to report them for what exactly?
oni is camping, survivors are trying to bait a hit to unhook you, he isn't allowing it
you want to report them for trying?

so in other words no, unless you take the time out of your schedule, trim and upload the video write a cute explanation the reports are useless; Good to know

Bringing attention to one bad thing is not equivalent to me saying other things don't need looked at as well. These issues are in entirely different areas, of which I'm sure they both have their own separate teams.

In the beginning of the match, before the video even began, they had been farming (which you can tell from the beginning of this video even), and all 3 of them had lead him to me to be hooked. After that I didn't want to farm and just wanted to do the gens and leave since I cannot DC nor could I kill myself on my first hook since they had instantly farmed me. I believe I had already mentioned that in my original post text. They were farming then BMing, not baiting a hook save.
Thanks for your input though!

They're clearly NOT baiting a hit at all. You see one of them nodding at the killer and then T-Bagging and pointing to the hooked survivor. If they were attempting to bait a hit, they wouldn't all stand there acting like idiots, and the killer would have hit them. They clearly did not get hit even though the killer had plenty of opportunity to do so. So they indeed work with the killer and taunted the OP for it.

I went to your link. I'm not sure what my Player Cloud ID is on Xbox? And it says to give the name of the player. Do I have to fill one out 3 times for each survivor? Seems almost not worth it at that point.. I would have better luck to just remember their names and dodge them any time I see them I guess.
Thanks, though.

Isn't there a way they could just have flagged reports save a recording of the game and have a human review it?
1 -
I've been reading forum threads for a while but I haven't written anything yet.
Considering team who is responsible for sorting through reports is proportionally too small to take actions relatively quickly maybe volunteers could get some sort of looking into reports?
I mean League of Legends had its "Tribunal" which was imo great idea, but probably turned bad because they were offering a reward for those volunteers so plenty of those weren't even looking into the reports but skip through just to get some in-game points or so.
If you did the same, but tried to improve their system a bit (like dunno, timer before going to check next case to prevent brainless skipping, or as I mentioned earlier no in-game rewards or small enough that it wouldn't be worth for people to go farming for) maybe it could ease work of your team.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I'd like to thank my parents for believing in me and so.

I'd hate to see a volunteer review system with how negative and memeful the DBD community is lol. Unless they picked the people who would do reviews so they were trustworthy. Not just an open page for anyone to partake in.
Also, your ending was solid lol.

Will it be possible in the future to change the system so that people wouldn't have to create a forum profile and validate their e-mail address in order to submit information?
I believe a lot of players are deterred whey they're being asked several questions only to report a player, there might be too many steps in the process.
1 -
I don't think anything irritates me more than teammates throwing you under the Oni (bus.) Had a Kate tell a Demo where I was hiding last night, so I was hooked, but it felt so good when he killed her right after me.
Anyway, don't they also accept video reports here and on Discord? I've heard of people having success just messaging devs. Just hear say.
1 -
I've not heard of anything about reporting through any of those channels. I've heard streamers say they will send clips to the devs themselves of hackers and stuff, but I don't think the devs would like everybody sending them messages or flooding discord with reports.
So those may work, but not as a consistent reporting method for the whole community.

some streamers have direct contact with the dev team as they tend to play the game in a public forum and have video proof more often than not. Also they have been around the devs at conventions. I know how to contact one and I still use the support ticket and in game report. I might put a bug into the dev's ear that i know to look at it but i never expect it to do anything.
I don't know how they have it set up, but they have access to the raw data depending on what the dedicated server retention rate is, but it's not easy to put that into a video format that can just be viewed. think of it this way: you can get a book from a library and read it, but you can't turn it into a movie or tv show without changing it and removing things. you can't just take the vhs movie and watch it without the device that reconstitutes the data into the video on your screen. thus why the video is requested, makes it easier and rightfully so.
1 -
I would imagine they could still set something up like that though.
1 -
it isn't easy. even Everquest doesn't have anything where they can run a set of code data to JUST see what happened. and EQ has been around since 1999! it'd be great, but it's a good want, but the devs can see what the code interaction is doing.

I was pretty sure League did this for things like inting but I could be wrong.
