Huntress's inspiration
Im unsure if this should be in the lore section or not but today my brother asked me if huntress was based off of the "bunny man"?
I had no idea about a "bunny man" and researched a little bit (by little bit a page worth so not much). And then I started thinking about it.
1. He wears a white rabbit mask.
2. He throws hatchets at random people.
3. Lives in the woods.
4. Raids towns with a hatchet or axe.
5. Mentally ill.
These are some of the things he has in common with huntress.
So what do you think? Is huntress inspired by this urban myth? Or am I just making assumptions based of coincidences.

I’ve always thought Huntress was inspired by the Bunny Man, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one!

If I remember correctly she was inspired by a Russian urban legend instead, which is what her lullaby is based off of. Both the lullaby in the myth and her lullaby are the same, just obviously different people singing it.

Every killer draws inspiration from all over, obviously. It makes them feel real, and draws from familiarity to drop all kinds of horror genres into the game. A lot of the early killers can be connected to something more directly than some of the more recent ones which took their own, but they all still have their own special charm and twist to them!
I'll have to look into Bunny Man though, seems very interesting

Her lullaby is an actual Russian lullaby named Bayu Bayushki Bayu. It's a folk lullaby warning kids not to sleep with their limbs hanging over the edge of their beds or wolves will come and get them. Pleasant, huh!

I know what her lullaby is from but what is the name of the russian myth you said she was inspired or partly inspired from?
I've only found out about him recently. They both do share similar features.
Yeah he's quite interesting. I'll probably look into him more to see if they had anything else in common.
I knew her lullaby was Russian but never actually bothered to what it meant. That would be scary to think that as a child.

Not really that scary. But then again, I'm an Australian and have had a Redback Spider (Black Widow for all the Americans out there) fight a Sydney Funnel Web and win, so you stop being scared of most things after that.

I'm from Australia too I know what you mean about it not being that scary just didn't know how to word it at that time. Probably dreadful for the children to think that if they put their arm off of the bed it just gets teared off. Definitely going to help them sleep.

I'm just going off of what I heard back when I joined-- as a brit I've no clue on Russian folklore unfortunately

It's alright I'm going go and look it up now.
