why the maps are so dark, what is their purpose?
Can you see Claudette?. In yamahoka all survivors are invisibles, I play in Xbox I have a Samsung smart sheet 49 ' the bright is at maximum.

I personally never had that issue.. but I can confirm that is extremely dark on your side.

Oh, it sure is dark.
And while I don't mind it, it's a problem when you're versing Survivors like Claudette.
I just hit Claudette and I can't see her.

I play in Xbox one

Yes man. I don't know what is the purpose, I hope a dev can answer

They should make blendettes hair glow in the dark. She's radioactive because of her experiments, dunno fits in the lore lol.

Your monitor/tv has contrast and brightness control?
I have mine ajusted to make it better. Also there is Nvidia filters to help if you are on a PC with Nvidia Graphics.

To make you blind. Use freestyle or whatever.

1 game in the Game, I saw 2 silhouettes sit on a gen down floor, I windup a hatchet, 2 silhouettes (Jake and Quen) started to run away, I threw to the Gen, had a hit.
Clau was also sit at that Gen. completely unable to see her

because its a horror game

Daylight/daytime horror is a subgenre/trope of its own, I'm actually surprised we have 15 chapters and not one is based on it.

Ohhh, it could explain all haha

I play in Xbox, when I get a game in those maps I put the bright at maximum.. but you can watch in video that is impossible to see clau...
0 -
Haha yes man, I have played a lot of games where I used my ultra instinct to hit in the obscurity and I can get a hit
0 -
This is the sole reason my survivor main is Claudette. She is cute, smol and can blend into the environment
But do you know Claudette's worst enemies? Legion and Doc
0 -
Haha yes, I need to put the bright at maximum to see something which is moving in obscurity haha
0 -
now I understand, she is part of the map, as a legion I only see the red mark and hit there even though I see nothing and casually I get a hit and she runs fast haha

Why are the maps dark in a horror game that's about it not being daylight?
1 -
A radical thought. What if maps are only dark from a survivor's perspective? In most slasher flics, the killer can usually see just fine in the dark.
But yeah, I don't mind dimmer maps, but when you have an example like you just showed, and that horror show that is Sanctum, then there's a real issue.

Yes man. I would like to have the eyes as a cat to see perfectly en obscurity, but every time that I try to play in these maps I'm going blind because I should upload all the brightness to the screen to be able to see an little shadow

Yes man, the game have to change the name , for example "finding Claudette"
0 -
Even with the poor quality of the video, I could see her. But sure, its always the games fault. Or the survivors.

I played yesterday against an Adam with a brown coat on MacMillen. He was absolutely invisible. We later laughed about it, cause my Bubba couldn't see him. It's insane how dark some maps are, yet the devs wont do anything.

I am more wondering why you switch directions so often instead of just following the Scratch Marks.
1 -
Naw her presence changes dramatically, literally for a second in the first part when she gets in the shadow of the forklift, probably a lighting bug.
Same thing happens near the pallet until she drops it. You can see her outline, but she is clearly Blendette in terms of shading and color, overall saturation. This is worse than looking for brown Jake on the cowboy map.
As soon as clod drops the pallet, her entire palate changes. That kind of a lighting change is way too extreme, given that the area upstairs has better lighting than downstairs.

I think it's less about following Scratch Marks and more about swinging into thin air hoping a Survivor is in that darkness. Because sometimes you really can't see them.

Make shadowborn true to it's name and description. Besides better FOV also add 5/10/15% map brightness increases based on tier.

On the topic of dark maps, does Yamaoka seem brighter for anyone else?
0 -
Killers need to be able to see ALL auras ALL of the time.
Claudettes clothes should be bright white and everyone should be covered in glow in the dark rave paint.
Killers is too hard. Lol

Even if I put the bright at maximum, I can't see anything, also, I don't want to hurt my eyes
0 -
Yes, a lot of survivors win due to this illumination, at the end they send a message to say that it was easy jajaja when all the game they were hiding
0 -
I was desperate because it took me 2 minutes to hit her because I was hitting to the minimum move
0 -
I love my eyes very much and I would not like to increase the brightness to the maximum all the games
0 -
Darkness helps a lot with stealth.
0 -
My game looks exactly as OPs. At this point I've given up trying to follow survivors with my eyes and focus more on listening to their footsteps.. Otherwise my eyes just start to hurt from the strain after plaing on dark maps back to back
1 -
Yamahoka is the worst man, if you play with Freddy it is a nightmare
0 -
Imagine Huntress throwing those clown hammers at survivors
1 -
You said you increased brightness but what about contrast on your tv? That usually makes a way bigger difference. Your tv is crazy dark
0 -
I love my eyes to hurt them haha

Man, I have an smart sheet Samsung 49 " , u can read the different post here that it isn't a problem with my TV, there are in Xbox maps where is too dark that u literally have to use your ultra instinct to see the minimum move to hit and u hope that it can be a survivor jaja. I have seen the maps in pc and thay have more bright than Xbox.

When i play with hunter, it's easier to see and hit the crows than to hit Claudette

Dark? You know nothing. In the early DBD days the maps were much darker and more atmospheric than now. Just go watch old videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G70NgX1ffFk Since patch 1.4 all maps got much brighter due to engine changes which was very bad tbh.

I have to ask for forgiveness, we are in glory right now, although it looked scary, right now they make us laugh

Bad excuse for poor lighting. The theme is horror but it is also a game, which needs balance. Claudette is almost invisible on most maps because they are simply too dark.
Would you watch a movie too dark to see anything and be ok with it because it was labeled as "horror"?

I see what you did there.

We definitely need more Dawn maps like Dead Dawg Saloon.
