Why the next killer is non human (most likely Pennywise)
Okay first let’s take a look at the quote from the 4th anniversary from the official Dead By Daylight site. “The New Chapter will feature a classic license, one that has marked the world of horror since it’s inception.” With this quote we all came to the conclusion that it was going to be: Candyman, Chucky, Jason or Pennywise. If you think about it and use some common sense, it clearly says, “it’s inception” meaning it can’t be, Candyman, Chucky or Jason, since the word “it” is referred to a non humanoid person. These three are a “him” not an “it”, since all three have a gender. If it said something like, “since his inception,” it would most likely be one of the three. Pennywise stands out of every slasher because he was the first clown to be featured/shown in a horror film and ever since, he gave nightmares to anyone who feared Clowns, he is the reason why clowns became scary and frequently used in horror films, he changed the horror genre by not being a slasher.
The other three have some character that they would most likely be similar to, Michael Myers, a slasher. So it would be impossible to be since their “inception” because they weren’t the first. I also believe that it is Pennywise because Dead By Daylight tends to go for “Iconic” Licenses that are mostly know by people, for example Demogorgon. Every License so far in the game is very popularly know by many people. So what do you guys think?

Penny wise would be the most stupid idea... The Clown is by far better than Penny Wise, he just needs his buff (which is coming).

Although I like pennywise I’m not sure he’d fit into something like DBD 🤷♂️. And all the other ones you mentioned . I’m not trying to shutdown you’re idea’s or anything I just don’t think either would fit into the game.

"It" is referring to the license in this case, so that is the appropriate pronoun to use either way, since "license" is not a gendered word. One could make a case for the use of an apostrophe where there shouldn't be one there as evidence for Pennywise, but given BHVR's track record with grammar (exhibit A being the in-game lore), it's far more likely that's just an error.

I'm fairly sure by "It's inception" they're referencing the license. For example, it would be like, Friday the 13th's inception rather than Jason's inception which is how you're reading it. Because the Chapter comes with a survivor too, and so it's not solely the killer being focused on.

"It" could also be more of a concept, rather than a non-human entity. This works well too for something like a Xenomorph.
However, with all of the "bee" puns that were teased about the release, and the fact that there's a new Candyman movie coming out this year, it's too likely to be Candyman. Shame too, because outside of Dead Meat's Kill Count series, I've NEVER HEARD of Candyman.
""""Iconic"""" indeed.

Never heard of Candyman * Shocked Pikachu face!
"world of horror since it’s inception" Maybe the "it's" is referring to the word of horror itself.
Perhaps it's something older and lamer like Dracula :(
Though, the Bee puns does smell of Candyman. Or BeeMovie? Beenami?

The same thing was said when the idea came around of Ghostface coming into the game, now he is loved by many. Same thing could be said about Demo, they made it work. So anything is possible. Each year for their anniversary they achieve higher goals. Year 2 was clown and cosmetics, year 3 was ghostface and I am very positive that that they want to bring something into the game that is bigger and better than before.

Apparently it was only popular in America. I don't now anybody who's heard of it in Kangaroo Land, and someone else on here did also say that it isn't that popular in Europe.

As a resident of Kangaroo Land, I have heard of Candyman, but only in the same offhand way that I've heard about a lot of other horror icons, since I don't tend to seek that stuff out. In other words, I'd heard the name before, but knew absolutely nothing about the character or the franchise.

Marked the world of horrors since its inception. Its refers to the classic license, not the killer. Otherwise they would've said A new classic KILLER.

I personally hope it is Pennywise (specifically Skarsgard's version) as I love the character.
I could easily see the new killer being "The Deadlights", new survivor Bill Denbrough (grown up James McAvoy version of course), and the map would be The Sewers or town of Derry, Maine.
It could be Candyman but when I read "marked the world of horror", that doesn't sound like Candyman as unfortunately he is one of the lesser known horror icons.
Lore wise, I could never see The Entity having control over Pennywise (Deadlights). The Entity's lore also reminds me of the Deadlights.

I know him in passing too, but it's not through any sources talking about iconic characters. It was literally a series about body counts and Candyman was the franchise of the month, and it's literally the only time I've heard of him.
But then again, I suppose that Mick Taylor would be considered an iconic horror villain by us but nobody else would know about him.

Yeah I couldn't see a diety being overtaken by the entity unless the entity strikes some sort of deal.

It doesn't really make sense to add a 2nd Clown killer. Also they'd probably model him after Skarsgard which is a no from me.

This Exactly, it refers to the franchise not the killer

Everyone Keeps getting hung up on needing the killers name to begin with "the." There is no reason that pennywise wouldn't simply be called "It"

It probably says "it" to hide the gender of the new killer cuz Chucky doesn't necessarily have a gender since he can possess anybody, and everybody knows Jason's out of the picture because legal battle, so it could be pennywise, but I can also be Candyman to kind of promote the new movie that is coming out soon
