What truly makes Dead by Daylight so fun for some of us?
For those of us who love DbD as much as the developers themselves, what MAKES us love it? We can't just say that it's fun, because many games are fun. But what do you guys think is that one thing about DbD that makes it different from everything else? My brother has asked me this question and every way I responded was counteracted by many other games I have. For example: the game is infinite because you can always upgrade killers due to more keep coming, yet many games are like this. What do you guys think TRULY makes DbD so fun?

Its more complex than it appears. Some people think theyre playing checkers when theyre actually playing chess. Who has the better plan and who executes that plan better? Who adapts their strategy better on the fly. It requires quick thinking and a merciless attitude from both sides in order to do well. THAT makes it fun. Plus I like to slap stuff 🤷♂️

I honestly think it's a case of "best card in a bad hand". The alternatives are either bad (F13, unpolished and extremely clunky, and of course lacking content support), or they're indies that aren't established yet and are so-so, but DBD is frequently unbalanced and very buggy (the years of infinite loading screens...), so meh, it's really just a case of the best of a bad batch

It reminds me of zombies tbh. Quite simple in design but get more complex as you learn about the game.
I can play dead by daylight and cod zombies on autopilot without really thinking too hard. I can just play the game, chat to mates and maybe have a drink. Also both involve looping/training 😉

I honestly just love the gameplay loop.
Especially as Killer, it never fails to make killing feel satisfying.

As dumb as it sounds: the atmosphere.
the feel of the game is really unique to me, and the characters are pretty well designed for the most part. Combined with the licensed characters that don’t feel out of place somehow it all works.
i also like the team-work approach for survivors, that there are not different classes.

Doing yes-yes with the proboscis/with the claudetteface.

I don't fully know why, but the killing does just feel satisfying. I sort of wanted to say that to my brother, but it sounded a bit weird to say. But yeah, I agree with you on that one.

I really agree with you on all of that. I feel like the licensed characters really add something to the game. I am an absolute fan of horror characters, my favorite being Freddy and Michael (in general, not in-game though I still like them both in-game), so I can't wait for the next.
