There is huge support for the slit mouthed woman, growing numbers for the oni because of the mask but I'm taking this in a new direction.
We are on the eve of the killer survivor. When totes M.Cotes tweeted to Paulie, he said he got at least one thing right, and people assumed it was about who the killer was. But the thing we know he got right was it's a Japanese theme. All the rest is wrong.
The killer will be the "cursed" just to give it a name. And they will be possessed by a katana that drives them to kill like the muramasa blade. The character model will be a survivor that switches modes by drawing a sword and becoming the cursed killer.

I'd just point out that it could be NEITHER character in the trailer. We hear a man addressing his daughter, what if his daughter is off camera and he is teaching her to be a killer? Not putting a lot of stock in it, but it's possible.
Also, Cote said Paulie got AT LEAST one thing right, not ONLY one thing. So it doesn't necessarily mean everything except Japanese is wrong.0 -
