Imhotep - Outside chance for new Killer

So, I was looking at the black skull and I was reminded of Imhotep in the Mummy (Brendan Fraser movie 1999) dying at the end in the ... souls? Whatever.

Then I thought about the bad Tom Cruise remake and Ahmanet's sarcophagus getting brought up through the ... mercury I think it was. (I do note in the image, the "goo" isnt around his eyes but he does sink down into it...)

Then I though 1999 movie poster with the Imhotep's face in the sand storm...reminded me of the bottom corner of the image that everyone thinks is Candyman with bee's in his mouth.

I was also thinking, that not gold, its SAND.

They announced it was a horror icon dating back...well, the Mummy is a classic that predates even Jason and Alien..plus it could be an emotional thing to add as it could open the door to killers in the dark universe (Dr Frankenstein, Dracula, Jekyl/Hyde etc).

Perhaps it will be more that just Imhotep. Skin to make the Mummy look like Ahmanet as well (Like Legion with more than one character).

As for survivor, I'm not even going to suggest Tom Cruise!!! NO

Could be a young Brendan Fraser (he needs work / royalties) Maybe Rachel Weiss. Maybe even the Magi (I forget his name)

In the Mummy 1999, Imhotep was afraid of cat (at first) and the Dev's all put cat pics on twitter...yeah...!

The desk photo with the D&D skull in the green cube. Yep, mummy skull....

Is all this I've posted likely? Nope, not at all as other theories have a lot more evidence. But, just putting the idea out there. Plus if it is Imhotep I can say I told you so :)

A side thought, The black...soul...stuff that Imhotep dies in. Are they skulls with black liquid in their eyes? (I dont own the movie to check).

I just watched it again (youtube: the mummy 1 imhotep death) and holy #########. They're black skeletons, with what looks like gold speckles or flecks on them, climbing up out of black ooze/tar to grab him. I think it fits better than you thought it did!

Edit: Maybe it's not gold, maybe it's the fire reflection on bad cgi and a bad wifi signal, But still black skeletons and black ooze.

I was thinking about the "bee" thing. Ignoring the obvious Candyman reference to that, perhaps it not a bee that we need to be thinking, maybe more insect...maybe more...locust plague...e.g. Plagues or Egypt -> Mummy

This would be pretty awesome. An Egyptian killer would be amazing.

I actually enjoyed Tom Cruise's Mummy film. It wasn't fantastic, but it was fun. Still not as good as Brendan Fraisers though.

On topic, it is most likely Mr Beeman that will be the next killer. Hopefully the next one after would be an original Mummy with an Egyptian map. They will have to use a Mummy eventually. I hope it is sooner rather than later.

I think there is a MUCH greater chance of it being Candyman than Imhotep, the "classic" franchise is a little meh on him, but you never know. Perhaps if they read this they will consider adding Imhotep!

I'd quite like a sandy, Egyptian ruin map to run around in. 1999 Mummy movies City of the Dead! yes please.

Ability - Local sandstorm. Severely limits a survivors vision for x amount of seconds

    THIS Weapon!

Anubis agrees. Hrmm, Shapeshifting power? Jackel form?

    Not amused? ok...

Even if it wasn't specifically the movie The Mummy, any Egypt thing would be cool, Anubis, or a Mummy.

Public-Domain characters like Dracula or Frankenstein's Monster would also be cool.

Frankenstein's Monster isn't necessarily a bad guy though.

I was thinking the Mummy movie's as it fits with "classic licence"

A mummy without any links to the movies would be fair game, but not this chapter since it's licenced

Wow, I rarely ever see anyone else who liked the remake. But it's just like you said, no, it wasn't "great", but it was fun enough to be worth the price of admission. And unlike Brendan Fraser, Tom Cruise isn't a terrible actor...

Lol. The Tom Cruise movie was....ok, I think they tried to hard though, something was disjointed in it. I know they were trying to setup a dark universe (a bit like the marvel cinematic universe) but you need to start with a great movie and go from there. Instead, they mostly killed it off.

Tom Cruise wasnt the right choice either, I think Hollywood need to realize that big celebrity names are not enough to sell a movie anymore, there is so much choice that if the movie is bad, a big name isnt going to save it.

Frankenstein's monster isn't a bad guy at all per say, but his mind is easily manipulated to the point where he doesn't understand wrong from right alot of the times. Tell him killing is good, and he would listen, nod his head and say "Killingg..good, living...bad". He would easily be manipulated into sacrificing for the Entity.

That's fair. Some things definitely didn't quite fit together with all of the different ideas they were trying to show off.

Everyone could start out with jars, and the Mummy could run around, damaging/hooking one and taking a jar, becoming more powerful. After several jars are taken, the Mummy becomes whole. Maybe a small speed buff, perhaps cooldown reduction on abilities and perks?

At a certain point between that, the Mummy can summon sandstorms to create the Oblivious effect in a quadrant/large area of the map, making Survivor vision extremely low(something like 12 meters maybe?), and they cannot hear the Mummy's footsteps. The Mummy also has decreased vision, but still has aura sight on generators, maybe aura pulse reading on Survivors that still have jars(Survivors may have 2 jars each? spitballing here). The duration can't be too long, but the cooldown also can't be too short.

And then finally some sort of scarab beetle effect. Like maybe the Mummy can place scarabs on up to three(or more) generators, Survivors who touch those generators get infested with a scarab/scarabs that they must quickly remove or they let out a scream/get injured/both? The Mummy won't get a sound notification when a scarab jumps on a Survivor but they will see that the generator it was hiding in is no longer there, and their counter will go up by one. This one can't be too many or we get another Legion problem, but it also can't be too few or else Survivors will just pretend the problem doesn't exist, or they'll use it against the Mummy as bait.

Jars to regenerate are an interesting idea. But you donโ€™t want to slow the killer down at all.

If they want mummy killer they just create original mummy killer than losing money for license

  • johnmwarner

Yeah the dark universe thing caused that mess I think, similar to how DC couldnโ€™t get the justice league setup right. You have you start with a good movie and then let that lead in with small hints and cameos at first.

Iron Man had nothing about the avengers until the post credit scene I believe?

๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‚ Tom "let me scream at the top of my lungs every movie" Cruise isnt a bad actor? Oh man, imagine thinking Brendan Frasier was bad because he acted his roles PERFECTLY to the role. Monkey bone? Horrible movie. But he played his part. Bedazzled? Again, ######### movie, he played his role. The Mummy? ######### KILLED it.

Tom Cruise may be well known/more successful, but hes not a flawless actor, nor is Frasier a bad one.

  • johnmwarner
    johnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

Yes!!! Brendan played the role perfectly, it was supposed to be that kind of movie.

was bedazzled where he dated the devil or something that was good for what it was too if itโ€™s what Iโ€™m remembering

Yep. He met her at the pool hall and went on to do stupid ######### with her.

I think it would be a cool idea to have an old school horror killer like the mummy, vampire, swamp monster, etc. The Egyptian theme would be great for a killer.

  • Terra92
    Terra92 Member Posts: 583

I'm thinking he'd probably start off as a 110 killer, maybe 115. Gaining jars gives a minor permanent speed buff and ability cooldown, and an instant cut in ability cooldown so he can go back to obscuring vision.

His mori would definitely be the classic life sucking scene. Man that would be scary to see every survivor as a ghastly husk.

I was thinking it could be in the area as the word "Classic" might very well be older than Alien/Jason/IT. Wasnt there a quote about the start of horror or something? The mummy, dracula, van helsing etc etc predate Jason/Freddy/IT/Pinhead etc. Depends when "classic" is referring to

At one point I thought it would be cool to have a Swamp Monster that could throw some algae and drag survivors, like Deathslinger today. Another idea was to have it slow down survivors but that is too similar to Clown and Freddy. Having a 'B' movie killer would be cool too, like the Blob. Haha

Since everyone keeps resurrecting or making more SPRINGTRAP threads over and over. I figure i'll resurrect this one.

    Imhotep for killer.

Tbh it doesn't even specifically have to be from "The Mummy" for me, I'd just love an ancient Egyptian themed chapter.

True. Initial post was when we knew a licenced killer was coming in (turned out to be silent hill), hence why I went with the movie Mummy.

But...yeah, you could do it without needing a licence
