Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The guy hailed from a place called silent hill. He a mysterious being that passes judgement on those deemed damned.

Correct me, people who play much more than me, but...

Silent Hill is a location that brings out a person's worst fears, and makes their mind go to mush. Pyramid Head is an executioner of sorts, for the tormented souls in the realm they're trapped in.

Again, haven't played it, but that's what I can tell.

He debuted in Silent Hill 2.

Many here don't realise he's not a single character: there were at least two Pyramid Heads in Silent Hill 2, meaning it could a member of a 'mob' like Demogorgons.

They were very slow, first using a huge blade called the Great Knife and later with a spear.

There isn't much of a backstory with the Pyramid Head characters. They're just residents of Silent Hill who stalk, torture and execute their victims.

In Silent Hill 2, Pyramid Head is about the same height as a normal man with a relatively average body. In the film representation, Pyramid Head is a towering colossus of muscle.

It's Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7 with a traffic cone on his head.

Isn't the pale and foggy version of the town like purgatory while the dark and bloody version is like hell?

No hate but, friend, we have GOT to get you some Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame! Horror film classics are one thing because you watched them but Horror game classics are another because you experience them.

You pretty much summed up the series. This cult that are in silent hill worship a thing called God.

I played the games, the first ever one that came out and that was scary and had jump scares but the films, eh.

I've played the Trilogy and I am very knowledgeable of the lore as well.

Pyramid Head is the subconscious incarnation of James Sunderland's id. It's his anger, his sexual desires, his frustrations that he couldn't have let out, or acted upon because of ill status of his wife, Mary.

He's a presence in Silent Hill because of his brutality.

He's supposed to be the icon of Silent Hill, nut he's not near as memorable as the mannequins.

Pyramid Head was first introduced by James Sunderland as that "Red Pyramid Thing", or something like that. He's one of the very few horror gaming characters to be widely known and referenced outside video games to such an extent. Some, like yourself, may not have come across him, but when he first appeared, he was a real nightmare!

Also, I think the original plan for Silent Hill 2 was to have him stalk James more, but there was some outtage that took a lot of the original work, and with deadlines he ended up cropping up in set areas.

There's plenty of lore about him about. Definitely worth exploring!

Correct me if I'm wrong as it's been awhile since I've played SH2 but wasn't Pyramid Head originally just a manifestation of James' guilt but then he became so popular they kinda shoehorned him into the rest of the series?
