Disrespectful behaviour during PTB
I know, this problem has a long history and I'm sure everybody have experienced it several times, but it's really making me sorrowful, not because generally some player can't control their inner anger and they spam the postchat with garbage comments because they lost, but because some idiots with mental issues literally threatening me and my playmates. For instance, in the last game a guy said that he is gonna find me and murder my whole family (Because I looped him around the shack 🤯). This kind of hateful speech is quite frequent for me, especially during PTB, which is utterly inapprehensible, because the beta doesn't have any meaningful consequences on future results in stats etc. I report them without question, but I really wonder if the devs pay attention to that kind of issues.
I'm curious about you guys, what are your experiences during PTB? Am I the only one who encounters problematic players that often?

This game's playerbase has a really toxic and loud-mouthed minority. Whatever their reasons for entering the PTB because they like the content, are meta slaves prospecting for something new, there to bully the new survivor/killer with their fully decked out characters, or are just naturally uber strung up all the time
They didn't get their way. You stopped him from killing you and allowing him to revel in "haha, noob survivor/killers bet they'll cry because of us getting a fair shot" add on to that rationale with any other tangent and its a pretty close painting towards the mindsets of these people
It ultimately didn't matter if he won or lost he still would have trash talked and been a weird little grease monkey. The only response to these people is a GG and have a good day. Don't feed the troll or get dragged in no matter how obnoxious they are, ignoring them hurts them so much more than any words

You are totally right about the appropriate answer reaction, that's 100% what I do, or no answer at all and just leave. I was wondering if the devs can make a chat inhibition for those players who have reached a random number of reports regarding hateful speech which can be similar to the DC penetration.

"because the beta doesn't have any meaningful consequences on future results in stats etc."
Really it doesnt matter if its on the PTB or if its live...theres no excuse for sayin ######### like that. This is a videogame and theres no stakes high enough to excuse that. I dont care if 5 bloody party streamers gets used on live, just for the killer your against to be a facecamping Bubba... It might suck but you dont get to be throwing out deaththreats and #########.

I'm so sorry someone went out of their way to message you with such graphic terror inducing content, no one deserves to experience that kind of fear just because they outplayed someone on a video game. It makes me sick to think how people will go out of their way just to spite others for their own satisfaction.
Unfortunately with dead by daylight and many other video game communities, you will have toxic negative people frequently messaging you hateful comments because they just can't control their anger. For example I was recently on rocket league, I scored a goal and an opposing team player yelled at me over voice chat with quite disgusting vulgar language. It's pathetic how people get angry over a loss, I think you'd need the mentality of a 12 year old to get salty over that. Some people fail to understand that A. the game is not to be taken seriously and B. the game will not always win in your favour. You win some you lose some.

It would be so awesome if every single DBD (or any game, really...) player have that viewpoint. All of the players who use abusive language can't realize the outcome of any match won't influence them in real life (Just their temper tbh). It's like they are not aware of their actions, but I'm sure many of them have serious mental illnesses too. Unfortunetaly, nobody can change the fact that cracked (or ill) people will continue to poison the community.

I feel bad for you. I suggest just saying gg and leaving. Don't let those idiots get to your head. I can't go into the ptb because I am on console. Side note: I think the word you are looking for is disrespectful, not unrespectful.

Its okay, I don't feel attacked, frightened or anything, it's just so annoying there is no opportunity to take action against this (Only blocking the person)
And thank you, edited it :)

Thanks for the kind words, really appriciate it, but its nothing, really :)
And I also share your thoughts. They are unmature in their head, that's a trait which all of them have in common.

Ive never participated in the PTB but just kinda wanted to add my input. As a person with mental issues and disabilities I don't think it's fair you label these people as having "mental issues". I'm not mad or offended, and obviously they have some kind of problem, but just wanted to point it out.
Otherwise, you see it all the time in the main game as well. I think it's worse on PC,but that's just from my short experience. I also got tons of these kind of comments and messages on Xbox playing any game. PS4 isn't really known for that type of thing...so I was really surprised when I started seeing it...only when playing DBD. I will never respond. I'm not going to use my disabilities as a shield, and there's really nothing else I could say to make them feel bad.
I even turned off the messenger thing. Just made it so people can't send a message unless they are my friend. Then they actually went around it by sending a friend request because you can attach a short message. Like come on. I try to play fair. Sometimes it doesn't even matter. You get accused and accosted for things you don't even do. And regardless, there's no excuse for that behavior.
It shouldn't matter how you are playing. There's no need to threaten someone or say something horrible like that over a game. There's just not. Ive even had two people say racist things (I'm not even the race my screen names seem to make people think I am). You want to get mad and say someone played bad or unfair, whatever. To say you are going to find someone's family? No excuse man. None.
I don't think many in the community would be cool with someone that does that. You did the right thing reporting it. I can't speak for the devs, but I'd assume they'd take something like that pretty seriously. If someone said it to your face that's a criminal offense. Honestly in some places it might already be just typing it. The rules include Threats and Hate Speech as bannable offenses. I've only been threatened once, and I didn't report it. I probably should have. If not for my sake, then for the next person that might have been more afraid.

You are right about the labeling, it makes me feel uncomfortable because I mentioned it in a wrong way (I'm a psychology student so I must correct this). About mental illnesses I meant issues which are not treated in a right way or at all, those have a high impact on other people like the example. Many other sensitive players' anxiety, depression, feeling of inferiority could be increased because of constant verbal harrassment. I'm really glad you got my message and responded fairly!

I just try to be civil in endgame chat. My whole thing is I dont care what happened during the game... I'm not gonna turn into a dick afterwards. Often times when ppl blow up in chat...I screenshot it to share on here so we all can get a good laugh about it. If you go to my profile, you can check out some of them by checking out the threads I've started titled "salty endgame chat". If its as bad as the one you've described, I report it. If its just someone complaining that I slugged someone or something... its whatever.

Very well said. I was able to see your intent, just thought someone else might not. I would definitely say I agree in a lot of the cases. Most people aren't going to get that serious over something so trivial unless there's something else going on. Might also be a few cases where the person is thinking they can get away with it,and there's not going to be consequences.
