Crossplay: In Game Chat with Consoles

When crossplay is enacted I'd really like for console players to have the in game chat to interact between consoles and pc players. Currently console has no in game chat and this leads to long drawn out argument wars in dm's.

I think having an in game chat option would lessen the effect of this toxicity for console players and I also think it would be good to make friends between mediums of play.

Despite the longer time it would take for messages to be typed and sent, I still would really like to have the option to at least say something.

Imagine thinking the chat box in DbD would lessen toxicity

It's not lessening exactly, it's more so limiting it and holding them more accountable.

Either way that's only the 1st point. The bigger issue is making friends and playing with people on different mediums. If I play with someone on a different platform and I enjoyed it, how am I meant to ask to play more?

I don't want chat on console.

I already know how bad a person I am. I don't need others reminding me.

I do admire your positivity with the good will of all. And there would definitely be some who would embrace it.

Unfortunately, there are already numerous instances of toxic chat, and expanding it would make it worse, especially typing with the controllers vs keyboards post-game.

If it was to be implimented it would have to be an option anyone could disable. But I do like the positivity here!

@Vox_Nocturne yea disabling is fine. Pc can already disable it.

@Dr_Loomis wouldn't you prefer the trash talk to be in a chat you can disable in game rather than getting pinging dms spammed into your messages? Not to mention the dbd team moderates better than Xbox or PS4.

Nah I have my messages to 'friends only' on PS4. If someone really wants to insult me they have to send a friend request. Which I rarely get but always delete.

@Dr_Loomis I mean then what's wrong with just keeping that and disabling an in game chat? Then it wouldn't effect you at all and other people would be able to make new friends or trash talk at their leisure

I don't think you can disable the PC lobby chat, but I could be mistaken.
