Ummm pansexual pride emotes huh...
So I understand LGBT for pride as its pride month and im a gay man myself but...why pansexual? Pansexuality was created as an inclusive term to people who have sex with children, animals, objects and other things. On top of that its now used as a symbol to spread biophobia and overall is being discarded/shunned by the LGBT community because it has such a problematic definition and history. Like did y'all actually look to see what the LGBT thought about the label or did you ignore LGBT history whats up here?

"Pride Month" is literally just a marketing scheme made by Corporations to cash in on the "Pride" hype.
Following July, they completely forget about the LGBT community.
I'm gay myself, and it's nothing more than a pandering scheme to make money. I literally hate "Pride Month" because I want to feel like a normal human being, equal to everyone else, something my ancestors fought so hard for.

THANK YOU!!!! I get told I have internalized homophobia if I say that like I just wanna be a cute house husband to my boyfriend in singapore nothin more nothin less. I wanna have friends who don't go "Oh you're gay! Thats so cool!" Or anything like that :/ and now LGBT acceptance rates are going far far down cause everyone tryna be quirky and different with it.

Nah, it's not internalized Homophobia.
It's normal wanting to feel normal. I just want to feel like everyone else.

Corporations: Celebrate pride month with us because we care about the gays we promise
Literally every LGBT person ever:

You guys dont like it cause its pandering. Normal people dont like being pandered too. Its insulting almost. You see it with songs too. Some douchnozzle poser pretending to be something hes not and throwing as many buzz words as he can in. I have a theory thats why everyone hates nickelback. Pandering posers.

Theres a lot more of us who hold these views than most people think. Sadly the community and sexualities have been reduced to nothing but personality traits and trends for people to hop on :/

lol thank you. I'm not typically on Discord ever since I stopped playing WoW.
You can add me on Steam if you'd like. =]

PR stunts everywhere, they care about their image, not "muh pride"
I dont blame them, its an excelent opportunity to clean your image and appear closer to you fanbase.

That's not what pansexuality is though.
Having sex with children isn't pansexuality. It's pedophilia, and it has no place in the LGBT community, and never will.
Having sex with animals isn't pansexuality. It's zoophilia, and it has no place in the LGBT community, and never will.
Having sex with objects... So basically sex toys, that people of all sexual orientations use...?
Pansexuality, to put things simply, means that the person can be sexually attracted to another person no matter their biological gender or gender identity. It's not meant to "discard" or "shun" bisexuality in any means. They're very similar, and some people just feel more comfortable as identifying as one or the other. That shouldn't really concern you.
Please, educate yourself better before you speak of such matters. It's really disrespectful (not to mention straight up wrong) of you to compare pansexual people to pedophiles.

As a lesbian, pride month is probably one of the most frustrating things to deal with. I certainly don't mind the artists and people who actually celebrate it. That being said, it's been monopolized by large corporations and used to garner PR favor among businesses who want more sales, and of course, Pride Month is the perfect time to maximize these sales by capitalizing on the public's desire for inclusivity.
It really isn't a month of celebration unless you're celebrating the cash you'll be netting selling pride merch under the guise of a happy, smiling and inclusive Corp., when in reality these companies could care less about your sexuality and just want your money.

Maam this is a wendys

I looked it up, the main criticisms I see are Corps using it for pr and people being way too open about their kinks. Am I looking in the wrong places not alot of LGBT people are saying they hate the month entirely.

I'm actually really happy with this thread. I came in expecting the worst and got the best.
Yep. Any time a corporation shines a spotlight on X group it's to get more money from it. If it's not profitable to do so or hurts the company it doesn't leave the board room. That's the hard truth of business. I think there have been several special interest restaurants that catered to X group that made the news for going out of business, but hetero people just kinda shrug at it and being a snowflake is trendy. I'm kinda curious what'll be trendy in 2030.

Yeah, I personally own a DR Community Server on Discord and it has a lot of people who are LGBT, they themselves don't mind Pride Month. So I don't get where this anger comes from. Is it just because it doesn't always feel "Genuine"?

So everyone except one person is really gonna overlook what this person just defined pansexuality as..? Please find me a source that says the word pansexual was created to mean that. I can't find anything. Sigmund Freud of all people coined the term, and it basically meant that all choices humans make are primarily driven by sexual desires. And to even say that pansexuals are being discarded by the LGBT+ community is entirely false. The LGBT+ is one of the most inclusive communities in the world because we know what it's like to be different and shunned for it. Obviously there are no place for pedophiles or acts of bestiality, but that is not what pansexual means, as someone has already explained.

Thank you! My spouse is pansexual. Basically all it means is that gender is not a factor in your sexual preference.

I'm glad it was brought up, because I had been reading that and contemplating how to approach such an interpretation- though someone nailed it on the head before me. I've never heard pansexuality defined as the "pedophile" or "zoophile" sexuality. Whenever it was mentioned to me, it was always simply coined as those who are attracted to all sexes and genders, as the other mentioned above.
OP, by defining it with such dangerous terms, you're only perpetuating the misguided stereotype, and I highly advise you research the actual definition of Pansexuality. Literally, it's one google search away.

Yes, you're correct. It is not genuine.
When June comes, every company sounds off the horns on how open and Gay Friendly they are while ignoring us for 11 months of the year.
But eh....

all these definitions... who decides what is the definition of "Pansexual" and to which extent do you belong to these genders? and why one should follow to be defined into a gender group(s)? #mindfuck
the most healthy sexuality is do what you feel without being trapped into a definition, and ofc not to impose to others your choice

has pride turned into another "holiday" excuse for drinking???

Nailed it. They don't really give a crap.

I guess? I don't know, I don't drink or smoke.

Don't really care about pride month myself but mayor props to you to turn this threat into a healthy discussion
With how wrong and frankly insulting the OP their post was this could have been a disaster

I wasn't going to turn this into a bashing thread, since it's really easy to derail the topics.
I'm just glad there are more people like me who don't want the spotlight, and want to just be like everyone else and live an everyday life.

As others have mentioned, pansexuality is attraction regardless of gender identity - it has no involvement with anything illegal. There are plenty of resources that discuss pansexuality that you can seek out that support so.
I am closing this thread, as though it's important to understand exactly what Pride Month is all about, it's also good to understand exactly what different sexualities and gender identities do and do not include accurately.
