Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

Do people not like going against The Pig?

It's been a while since I've played and decided to go for a few matches with The Pig. Averaging about 3 kills a match and at the end of every single match I've got nothing but hatemail saying The Pig is a trash killer and I need to git gud. Did I miss something since I haven't played in a while?

Sounds like they're just salty they lost or they've versed heaps of Tunnel Pigs.

It feels like on the forums, Pig is ine of the most beloved characters.

Pig is not trash. Far from it.

    @Topic:

I guess its more because quite a bunch of people are not using her Traps as Slowdown and go for other people, but are more like "Hurr, durr, I can hide my Terror Radius so I camp and tunnel". Same goes basically for every Stealth Killer.

Just yesterday I had a Wraith with Ebony Mori (but those are fine and rarely used, hahahahaha), silent Bell and purple all seeing who was just camping every Hook. Got less BPs than he spent on this game.

So yeah... This is more a Stealth Killer-thing and not a Pig-thing.

EDIT: Personally, I like to play against Piggys who are playing her correctly. And she is my favorite Killer to play as.

I've noticed with less popular killers people tend to play them in a sorta scummy way because they feel like they don't have a choice, for example I find that a lot of hags I face will trap a single hook multiple times thinking that's the best way to use her power.. when they're actually just wasting time. a reckless survivor only needs 1 trap to trigger, a competent survivor will crouch over all of them because hook traps are very very predictable.

similarly a lot of casual pig players will take the 'easy' route and patrol jigsaw boxes instead of gens to secure a hook from a probably still wounded survivor, which is neither the nicest nor most efficient way to play her ime. like others have said I think that's where the bias comes from, but even when I see piggy playing like that? I don't internalize it to mean pig as a killer is innately a tunneler, just like hag isn't innately a camper, so I don't judge the next one I see. ig people are just babies sometimes.

I'd love to see more piggies.

If someone tells you to "Git Gud" after a 3K, they most probably ought to be aiming that at themselves to lessen their salt content.

The Pig can be a good killer, but for all the reasons explained above she's misused. Granted, the pig head and red coat can make her a less stealthy killer than she ought, but she was one of the first (if not the first) killers to get 2 powers plus (headtraps/stealth/lunge attack), all of which can decimate a group of survivors.

As aforementioned, hook the headtraps, then leave them to fend for themselves in removing those as you happily slaughter the others.

Pig has been my absolute favourite killer to play against since her release, so I don't know what they're on about. Unless you did something particularly mean, like crouching after them to make them die to the RBT.

    No, it's just some people.

Pig has a reputation for tunnelling and camping, so some people just don't like facing her because of previous bad experiences.

But if people are telling you to git gud or are telling you your killer choice is trash after 3k'ing it's probably more that they're just salty.

It's a fairly common thing as Killer, I'd advise you to ignore it or report it (if they start harassing you).

Theres always going to be hate no matter WHAT killer you play. Ppl can talk about "playing fair" and avoiding OP addons/killers...but often times even when you do that...if they lose they'll still rage and throw a hissy fit.

    Heres an example

I kinda wanna see your results playing her. I agree, ebony moris always feel like overkill...but I'm not gonna sit here and bash someones killer/perk choice like you are. That typically comes from someone who doesnt know how to pla what theyre mocking.

The pig has 2 things against her: First of, she is often used for camping and tunneling. Second, she gives solo survivors more opportunitys to be screwed over by their fellow survivors, especially swf, because they dont care if you make it out or not. but a lot of players have problems with stealth-killers.

well, i don't hate the piggy

i just hate loop she for 3 minutes and know i gonna die because i can't escape with the helmet in my head

    wich is very unfun

like being tunneled vs a mori killer

or can't know if a spirit are using the teleport because it don't make the "sssshh" sound inside the terror ratius

Camping is more of a Wraith or Ghostface thing than a Pig thing, but yes, tunnelling is 100% a huge Pig problem. And it SUCKS for everyone else who never even looks at trapped survivors. The only time I interact with a trapped survivor is when we just happen to cross paths, and I SLUG them. That's the end of it, or if they heal, I'll whack them and keep going.

And I wouldn't say that she specifically screws solo players, even if I cream rainbow randoms with two reds as a green rank. But for me at least, I tend to thrive more on the chaos of solo-play on both sides. Good Pig players put the survivor team against each other (just like in SAW V!), and count a trapped survivor as basically removed from the game, limiting the playing field of how many survivors they have to deal with. If you, or your fellow survivors, are dumb enough to pop a generator when someone's trapped, then that's on you/them.

I like playing as pig, but going against her is always frustrating. Not because of the killer, but it always seems like the gens get completed right after I get a trap on my head...lol.

    Im just imagining this...

    Survivor goes down

Killer slams trap on survivors head

5 gens pop all at the same exact time

Survivor- "How is that even POSSIBLE for 3 ppl to finish 5 gens in sync?"

    Killer prepares tent

Most people i seen in game are fine with pig. Of course you do get the memers, some who play normal and than finally the people who so badly want to see a head pop, they will focus purely on a single unlucky person.

Of course the whole camping ghostface thing, i have never really seen before in game, unlike the tunneling piggy. That and why the heck would anyone use ghostface for camping, when Bubba exists and can't be broken out of their power by someone merely looking at them. Anywho. It most likely these folk simply hate the pig beyond any logical reason or had bad past experience with the pig and think all pigs act like that. Even if they didn't do anything wrong and simply go oh i hate the pig or this pig did something wrong, so they look for anything to take issue with, just to throw shade at someone playing pig.

That's just bad Hags lol. Good Hags don't need that move, they'll win easily. If people get to learn the less popular killers, they'll realise they're actually better than they think, like what happened with Wraith. Me and @Boss called it right after his buffs that he was good, but it took people a LONG time to realise that.

I'd say people dying get more creative in inventing the reasons why they are pissed.

Counts for both sides. Had a Iri Huntress that tunneled her first victim and had to face the salt in chat. Huntress answered that she had to with 3 gens done on first hook. The first down was within 20 seconds and the second gen was done with one person already dead and a second just put on death hook.

Sometimes people just are ridiculous and I wouldn't give a **** about what they write in chat.

Throw her a buff and nerf the rng on the head traps. Something that takes 2 seconds to do shouldn't equate to 2-4 mins running around the map doing side quests.

That's what I do. If I encounter the trapped survivor I slug them and move on. Usually I'm in a chase and find them at a box. I'll veer slightly smack them down and go back to the chase.

As for the OP. I personally love facing Pig. If you don't get the camping tunneling Pig she's a blast to play against.

I feel the same way about going against Pig. As a Pig main, it's either an easy game or a reflection of my own play and a learning experience.

If it's a baby, it'll be one of the easiest games on the planet. If they're competent, then I'm interested to see what they can really do.

    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,668

i hate going against her, but thats mainly due to how her RBTs work. (no offense to the character, i still love Miss Piggy - but i seriously hate how her power works)

every time i get trapped, the key is in the last f*cking box i check. every. single. time.

i have died to the timer countless times, just cause it was a big map and the time it took me to check all the boxes (combined with the killer being around ofc - and sometimes bringing add ons that would increase the search time, reduce the timer or just in general increase the amount of boxes) was more than 2.5 minutes...

and when i play her they all get the trap off of their head first or second try.

i hate luck based powers, and pig has exactly that.

i honestly just wish they would finally decie to buff her and while they are at it rework her RBTs to be consistant. something like "you get the key after checking X amount of boxes" would be enough - just let it be consistent so that i as a survivor know when i get rid of it, while i as a killer know my trap will not be removed within 10 seconds.

  • PigMainClaudette
    PigMainClaudette Member Posts: 3,842

I've died to a Pig RBT ONCE and that was because I was forced to!

I can also count the amount of times I've had an RBT kill on one hand. And this is even with the fact that the highest killer rank I've ever been to is 8 due to a lack of commitment.

All I can do in this situation is question what you're doing when you have the RBT active, same with your team. If all these kills are happening on Ormund or the Red Forrest with Tampered Timer/Crate of Gears, then that's just bad luck. If it's on a smaller map without any Gears/Tampered Timer, then I'm wondering who's popping generators quickly or wasting time ignoring boxes.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,668

    here is my usual scenario:

i get downed, trapped and hooked. usually a gen pops while im on hook / right after being trapped, so the trap is active from the get go (im solo so i cant just tell my team to hold a gen at 99% or sthg like that).

after being unhooked i go for boxes immediately. the amount of boxes / time required for each box / time my trap has is dependent on the killers add on choice ofc. during said box hunt, i get laughed at at all the boxes i check until there is only one left (cause luck based power and i am the unluckiest person in existance) - plus i got to avoid the killer who is also checking on boxes / looping a teammate around one, as i am injured and its easy to rehook me, which not only cuts my life down but also can end up wasting a lot of time.

all of that eats away on my time, and if the killer eigther interrupts my box search, got add ons that increase the search, has a tampered timer or just a huge map, ill die while searching through the last remaining box due to timing out - just sucks when thats my key box, doesnt at all matter when its not though.

i just hate how inconsistent her power is for both killer and survivor.

in general im not a fan of luck based powers, they are very inconsistent and not fitting for a competetive game such as DbD - its the main problem i have with my favourite killer (the Trapper), however for him its luckily just a small sideaspect of the power, allowing me to still enjoy him a lot - but piggys main power is literally build around that luck aspect, which is why i really dont like her.

I always find it the opposite. Most people love facing my Pig. You'd think with how often I beat up hatted people they wouldn't but nope. Perhaps they just like the 50:50 pallet ambushes. Though really, cam you blame pigs for tunneling a bit when a majority of hatted people seem to completely refuse to defend themselves in any way? I enjoy disabuseing them of that notion, especially when surveillance is telling me no one else is actually doing gens either. Gotta love the culture of fear and paranoia surveillance can instil.

I am never happy to see a pig for the same reason others have mentioned. People tend to tunnel jig saw boxes for ppl with helmets on and it's not remotely fun.

  • KingFrost
    KingFrost Member Posts: 3,014

People tend to stereotype killers by the playstyles people often use with them. I don't hate going against any specific killer, but I hate going against sweaty players on either side. Like, chill a little.

  • Saitamfed
    Saitamfed Member Posts: 1,626

Personally I love playing as Pig. I don't see her often, well, I don't see her at all wich makes me sad because she is not a bad killer, she does need a huge buff although.

I don't camp or tunnel with Pig because that's simply not effective, and since there are no many pigs, most of the people don't know how to play against her and underestimate the reverse bears traps wich causes them to die by it.

  • Saitamfed
    Saitamfed Member Posts: 1,626

I do need to agree that if I receive a notification with someone failing a skill check in a jigsaw box like two or three times, I am going there. I don't know if that can be considered tunneling.

  • Khroalthemadbomber

The problem with people that play Pig these days is that new people play her stupidly. They down someone, put a RBT on them, then tunnel the crap out of the RBT wearer straight off the hook.

Best option is to treat RBT wearers like that rotisserie oven they sell on infomercials: set it and forget it.

Now I'm not saying NEVER target RBT wearers. If one rabbits out in front of you, by all means smack em down.

But yeah there seem to be more Pig true tunnelers these days than normal I'm afraid... Which saddens me because Pig is my favorite.

Why are they patrolling boxes though? Unless they're desperate for a kill, or they're near the generators, there's no reason for it.

Sounds like you have my luck with Hags.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,668

well its mostly due to a currently chased team mate of mine leading them straight towards me, forcing me to eigther get grabbed off the box or run away to another one - which in both cases is a huge waste of time.

yeah guess im just the unluckiest person ever... :(
