The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

What got you into Dead by Daylight?

I'm extremely new so it's probably obvious that the Silent Hill trailer convinced me to put down my money for it. I had heard whispers about Dead by Daylight here and there but didn't feel compelled to look into it until that was announced - Silent Hill had a major impact on me as a teen so yeah, count me as one of those poor souls who've been left hanging for a long time for more quality SH stuff.

As it turns out, DbD's packed full of other horror icons, is pretty straight forward to pick up and play, and rewards improvement and progression as you go! So I'm glad to have this new, spooky-themed hide and seek game to play, and will toss some coins in for the SH DLC once it's live. But what about you guys? Were there any chapters that drew you in or did friends recommend it to you?

I had a friend mention it to me, and then a few months later I decided to buy it on sale. I never thought I'd put as much time into the game as I did, as I had never played any horror games or watched any horror movies before I started.

Well, I got mine 'free' via ps+, so i kind of had to play it. Still not thrilled about this arrangement. They dangled this shiny toy in front of me, and now I've spent over $50 on it. Genius!

I enjoy the cat and mouse dynamic as well. I find that drinking while i play helps me keep some perspective. Like, ok i just got one hooked, but at least im drinking.

Solo survivor is sometimes fun and killer is sometimes fun, so that's why i keep coming back! :D

I actually got dbd on sale after being a hardcore League of Legends player who slowly burnt themself out on the game i actually followed dbd since it's release found it through Ohmwrecker H20 and the others that played it with them but after i quit league i decided to take a leap of faith and bought dbd for 20$ on steam and the rest is history never regretted it.

Just the aesthetic and premise of it all was incredibly appealing to me, especially since I'm a horror buff and love the concept. I love the characters and the fact they get licensed killers is always appealing, especially to see your favorite show up. Plus the various playstyles you can run and how personalized your builds can be really heightens the play value for me!

My brother, said the Sidemen played it and it looked fun. He was correct, didn't expect to love it as much as I do though, actually thought it was trash by looking at it, but after we played one game, I was hooked. Now, I'm quite a lot better than my brother ironically, and when we play together, we both have a laugh, trying to get a friend to buy it (he will when it's on sale) so we can SWF and I can teach him.

Once crossplay comes, I'll probably bash with my bro and friend, but this time, my bro wont be next to me, and he'll actually be able to play when I am. Will be pretty lit.

My main motivation that still keeps me here is to hone my skill as survivor and have fun but also improve my skill as killer (most the killers I play are not that hard for me to learn).

When I found out you could play as Michael Myers. Halloween is my favorite horror franchise. So that easily sealed it.

My friend started streaming it, it looked really fun to me and I bought it to play it with her. Don't regret a thing, no matter the frustration it sometimes gives me

I invented the meta for Friday the 13th: The Game, and reverse-engineered just about every mechanic in it. Then I got fed up with the... let's just say very backwards community, and the developers functionally abandoning their game. This was the logical place to go, so here I am.

(EDIT: I've also been a huge horror fan, and more specifically a die-hard slasher fan since I was a child of the 1980s. When I soured on Friday the 13th: The Game and checked in on Dead by Daylight's Steam page, I was floored at how many big licenses Behaviour had secured. I stuck with it, and have been here pretty much ever since.)

I found it, asked if it had a singleplayer mode, got a "No", tried it anyway, didn't leave ever since beta.

My cousin got me into it a couple years back. Id go over to his place and we both played mostly survivor and I remember being genuinely scared while playing. It didn't take very long for me to get into playing killer which I found alot more fun and still do. Eventually I bought the game for myself. Unfortunately my cousin isn't into dbd as much as he used to be which is kinda funny since he's the one who got me into it.

I don't exactly remember. I got it on PC close to launch. I had a few friends playing, but not sure if that was it or not. I'm a big horror fan. I got it free on PS Plus as well, but forgot. My PC broke and I took a really long break. Like over a year. In the meantime I tried Friday the 13th and other similar games. Then stuff from the forums here kept coming up on my Google news feed. I think maybe it was because I've done a lot of horror movie character searches. Everything I kept seeing made me want to play more and more. Especially the new characters. Then I remembered I had it on PS4. That was a few months ago and I got completely hooked again. Told myself I was going to learn as much as possible and really try to get better. So a lot of the credit I give to people here on the forums.

I met 3 people playing Evolve Stage 2 that added to my friends list. We played that game as a 4 man group for like a month. One of them disappeared. Another changed his name so many times that I accidentally deleted him because I purge my friends list of people I no longer recognize. One I still stay in contact with and we shoot the ######### here and there. He often told me about dbd and one day it was on sale so I picked it up. There was no particular chapter that got me hooked. I just enjoyed it. I think this was back when the Hag came out. It was just before the huntress because I remember being in a 2 man swf breaking pallets to complete the community challenge.

I watched my daughter play for months. Started cheering her on and learning the game.

Soon tried to play with her and was getting destroyed. I tried killer and got better and better at that. I did that for a long time, hit rank 1, then started to swf with my daughter and eventually my wife as well.

Got better and better at that. At the heart of it, we love horror and it became a game we can all play together.

First downloaded it when the Yogscast played it, but my laptop couldn't run it so I never played in a match until Halloween of 2018 when I decided to download it again on my PC.

Heard and saw the game through H20 Delirious, then when the game went free on PS+ (I believe sometime between the Curtail Calls and Shattered Bloodlines chapters) I got hooked... then after 3 months of playing, college happened and I stopped playing for around 7- 8 months. I got back just before GhostFace launched and haven't stopped ever since.

My wife told me to try it. The first 3 times I played the game I played killer and hated every minute of it. Went months without picking it back up. One day my wife told me I ought to try playing survivor. Told her it wouldn't matter because it was a stupid game. She wouldn't let up until I tried a few matches as a survivor. Over 2 years later I'm still playing. Still rarely play killer though.

The streamer Ohmwrecker did. I am not a horror fan at all and somehow one of his dbd videos made it into my stream. I was just getting back into gaming and figured I'd watch. I loved it and purchased the game within a week.

I just miss the feeling fear and dread whenever the Killer was near. Now it's just resignation since I am bad at the game with no hope to get better. I still play for fun and enjoy being stealthy.

I saw the trailer that started with Claus and Jake...and thought Claudette was the coolest looking character I had ever seen! I never wanted to play online with strangers but I loved her look so much I bought it just to play her.

Turned out shes everyone else's least favorite and I got tunneled all the time. Shes still my fave but Ive been trying out other character too lately (like Feng BUnny)

not for their optimization to consoles thats for sure, if youre starting on console i suggest you to either try the pc version (not sure how the fps is in there) or play on mobile (excellent fps) before dumping any money on this lagfest

Tried F13 with a bunch of mates a while ago, back when we had a large and cosistently playing group. Found it to be pretty bad, then picked up DbD with a few of them a bit later. I've stuck around because I love the game, but none of them really play it.

We did some customs a while ago, and even trying to make terrible builds and not doing generators, I still dominated matches. They wouldn't even let me play killer.

    The gaming family channel Bereghostgames.

Back in October 2017 I remember watching a dead by daylight video for the first time on Bereghost's channel, I think I may have at least heard or seen a tiny bit of the game before but I never fully saw what it was about until I watched Bereghost play it.

After watching one video I realised I had to wait a week before buying it, so when the day came round I instantly bought the game as well as the deluxe edition and even bought it for a couple of my friends. Since November 8th 2017 I've been playing Dead by Daylight and I continue to support the game, the developers and predominantly the community.

I will say one thing: if the Friday 13th lawsuit hadn't messed things up with the game, I would still be there and this would an 'odd occasion' game. Probably wouldn't gone for all the DLCs either.

I was watching Vinesauce, and was in a stream a long time ago back during the beta of the game. And just seeing the game, it captivated me. I loved horror, and the almost slasher flick tones inspiration it was built from. I would keep my ear on the game periodically, since it looked pretty shoddy still, and I didn't have a good PC at the time. Eventually when I did get a stable PC, 2 friends of mine recommended we should play, and it hit me like "OH YEAH, I can play that game now." I remember it was right before Leatherface got released too. And Texas Chainsaw being one of my favorite horror films, there was almost no better time to start. (Except I wish Bubba got some better treatment.)

I got the game back in 2016 when my sister suggested it to me. I was very into horror games so I gave it a try and I was instantly hooked. I'm pretty sure I have legacy on my steam account just on like one or two characters. I had to stopped playing on PC because it broke and was infected with viruses and such. I didnt bother repairing it and I had a PS4 so I continued my gaming on there. When I found out DBD was coming to console I was pretty excited and bought the game a week after its release onto console.

My cousin told me about it, but I never really got into it until they invited me over and asked me to try it. I watched them play a game, then hesitantly took the controller. Spent most of the first part of the game hiding in a locker because I heard the Huntresses hum and assumed she was close. Worked a little on a generator before missing every skill check because I didn't know what button skill checks were. Then got killed quick. But I decided to get the game, so I could get better and follow the game better and not suck at it.

At first, I nearly quit. Games weren't much fun. Killers did nothing but camp me and I had no idea what I was doing. The maps were really difficult to find your way around. It took me a couple weeks to figure out how to find a generator (and my cousin TOLD me how to do it, but I didn't understand what they meant). I still get lost on some maps (Lerys particularly), but they're a lot easier to get around now and it's a game that I now own all the DLC for. Except the ones not available on Switch. *glares at the people responsible for not giving the devs the rights to use Freddy on Switch*

I was a Friday the 13th loyalist basically was playing a game in and out until one day my ex-boyfriend convinced me to try out Dead by daylight and I completely fell in love with it.

I started by maining Feng Min and Huntress.

Then Amanda came along and I dropped huntress like a stone.

    Now I'm a player with 4K hours

    My mains are

    1) Amanda

    2) Legion

    3) Demi Logorgon

For the Killers in that order

    1) Feng Min

    2) Cheryl Mason ( I know she's not out yet but she's going to be my secondary main)

    3) Yui Kimura

    For the survivors

My sister is a streamer and bought it for me after I was very resistant to get it. But then I loved it and started playing regularly, both with and without her.
