Are maps bugged?
Or do I not get how they work?
After using them fairly often trying to get this obnoxious cleanse 5 totems and escape challenge I have noticed things I don't understand at all.
So Totems are killer property right? The map will track within 8 meters. So why when I light my map up do I see a totem like 100meters away as well as something else. Meanwhile I can be standing right on top of a totem and it NOT have lit that one up? This caused me to think we had more done than we actually did until I realized it happened. It seems as if I RANDOMLY see totems insanely far away and NOT any totems close to me?
Even more weird is I was against a Hag and noticed it lights up her traps on someone far off. Then I watched her hook someone and used my map and noticed no traps where there. So I run up to the hook but there WAS traps there?
I don't get it.

When you get the "map tracking" scoring event, that means an object was added to your map. When you activate the map, you see all tracked objects no matter their distance. The range of 8 meters is just how close you need to be to track a new item. If you haven't tracked it, the map can't see it.

I've had a red map with add ons seen a totem 3m away not lit up and one clear across the map glowing like Christmas. It's a total pain and i dont understand it either >,<

I never see that. I get map scouting event . I used to think it was cause someone saw my thing and went over to it. But that can't be because survivors don't see it without the add on. It always seems random.
I don't see items within 8 meters....I don't see items within FOUR meters. But I do randomly see items 100 meters away. It doesn't make sense.
