Um. Rank Reset?
Did it change again? I thought it used to bring you back a color recently and not two pips. It’s not a huge deal but it made me wonder if MMR is being tested on console now?
Whatever it is glad I’ll be at rank 1 again in no timeeee. 🙂

It's probably a bug. I signed in before and it reset me to... rank 1. In other words, nothing happened.

I only got reset one rank
Killer: 4-5
survivor: 12-13
They really need to expand ranks and bring back old rank reset

They reset you back a color. So 4 is red, 5 is purple. 12 is green 13 is yellow. Had you been a 3 you would have still would have went to 5.
But i agree. There should be 50 ranks, and you should go back 20 every season. Reds would really mean something then

I was think that it should be
Brown: 10-1
Yellow: 10-1
Green: 10-1
Purple: 10-1
Red: 10-1
and rank reset should be a full color or two

I went from 15 back down to noob 20 for survivor. I can never seem to get out of yellow rank. No matter how much stuff I do in a match, I either get no pip, lose a pip, or extremely rarely gain a pip. I should have been a red a long time ago. I play like a red now, but the system still thinks I didn't do enough to rank up. Ive been playing this game since The Oni was released. What else do I need to do? Give a little dance for the killer? Learn to fly? Cook a yummy dinner for the killer?

no they don't, they just need to expand and use an entirely different like they already announced they would be doing, the old rank reset would allow people to derank easier and let them in ranks around 15 and just bully newer players or way less experienced players it was terrible for a new player experience to have a toxic ass surv or killer who clearly didn't belong there

And having Survivors who clearly don't belong in the red ranks... ruining games for both sides?
Maybe not to such an extreme but still...

Youre missing something. General rule of thumb is do at least 1 gen, unhook a couple of people and in the middle of all that youll probably be chased. There are others that understand the emblems better than i do so they might be able to give better advice, but if you know how to loop and get safe unhooks pipping should be super easy

Personally I think they should find a better way of tracking skill, like with the MMR matchmaking they are talking about. They should also find a better rank reset that reflects that. I just reset from rank 5 one pip from 4 to rank 9 with 0 pips. I'll get it back quickly with how much I play, but it's still sucky to lose all that progress only being one pip away from red.

I recall someone explaining it, albeit briefly, in another thread:
To pip as a survivor: there are 4 emblems and a total of 8,000 points possible in each (offerings only increase bloodpoints gained post-match -- meaning they won't help you pip).
I THINK the minimum required to pip, in terms of actions:
Repair 2 generators w/ a teammate or solo (slight difference here in points awarded)
Get 1 safe unhook
SLIGHT involvement with the killer to get those boldness points! Usually get chased, downed, saved, and proceed.
Hope this helps a bit. More experienced players please help us out here! I find myself pipping more consistently in games in which I end up being sacrificed; possible because Killer interactions aren't limited in those matches.

I was put from rank 6 to rank 10 as survivor and from rank 13 to 18 as killer.

Same happened to me. From Rank 2 to Rank 3. Once I restarted the game, I was suddenly Rank 5. Must have been a bug.

That's exactly what I do. Except when I'm against Doctor, Huntress, and Wraith. Those 3 I go the "Blend Into The Shadows And Hope To Survive" route. I'm always the first to die if I play normally with those 3. No, really. I always die first. And sometimes its within the first 2 minutes.

ranking up was never difficult in this game even with the old rank system, it was just with the old one people would derank and kill the experience for newer players, that system might work the one you just posted but it really depends on how easier/hard is it to progress from one rank to the next, the current pip system based on emblems is a terrible way to do it, there needs to more than just what is currently there.
Honestly its probably better to do away with the rank system entirely and just put in a system for newer players that only matches with them with other newer player until a certain lvl, as another issue with the rank system is finding games the higher you go up the longer queue times get and noone really wants long ass queue times

I got reset from 1 to 5 as Killer and 4 to 5 as Survivor. Nothing weird happened for me.
EDIT: Rank reset on mobile was weird though. Went from rank 6 to 12 as Killer.

True... but with the track record of BVHR... I doubt it'll be cut and dry
so would you like to discuss a better way of doing it?

You only need 9 emblem points at those ranks. It's not too hard to get out of them. As long as you bang out a gen. Survive for at least 9 minutes. Get a safe unhook, or at least heal a couple of people. Run one decent chase. You'll have more than enough to pip.

Sorry to say it man, but no you’re not playing like a red or even a purple if you aren’t pulling past yellow.
Red ranks have tougher requirements and even there I rarely rarely depip, most games are a pip with some black pips in there. Managing to heal or rescue a couple people, do a couple gens worth, and less the killer on a couple decent chases and you’ll pip or double pip where you’re at.
thats correct, you went from red to the lowest level of purple and same for survivor you went from yellow to the lowest green

Every month when I log in on the 13th it doesn't change at all until I restart the app, then it resets the way its supposed to.

idk, its really hard to have a good set in stone rank system for a game like this, since theres alot of catagories for what a surv does through out a game and alot what the killer does through out the game to have a good system in place

they do but only in the chase department, won chases/lost chases. but killers only get negative score for 2 things losing a surv on your shoulder and camping a hook, theres not really alot of negative point gain in the current rank system

Well then I think they should add more negative scoring events to survivors...

even being hooked in the basement could potentially be seen as a negative

@TinyMoon3 Well in your ranks I will admit it can be harder to pip because of how your teammates and the killer plays. If the killer is bad and hooks/hits nobody, that's no altruism. If they camp and tunnel you, then that's a bunch of nothing for you (depending on how quickly you go down). And so on. Normally in lower ranks there isn't enough of everything for you to pip easily. It just takes more play time honestly. Run a killer for boldness/do totems, unhook and heal your teammates, do like 2 gens, and escape. You get survival points for running and escaping the killer too so if you go down really quickly you get wrecked in survival emblem.
So overall, just play more and do a bit of everything.

? i have no trouble pipping im talking to the other guy. its not hard to pip at all for me so idk why people struggle with it so much and why theres so many potatos at red ranks i constantly maintain rank 1 on killer and surv, wrong person me thinks?

The problem with that is there's not enough ranks 20-13 to do that, the reason for the long queue times has nothing to do with rank you could be a rank 20 or a rank 1 as long as there's more survivors than there are killers the lobby times are going to be forever. What they need to do is make a new lobby system like Friday the 13th has, because there's too many swfs and not enough solo queuers. I've played killer and I've played survivor, and until the devs do something about the toxicity in this game you're never going have people willing to play killer that aren't as toxic as the survivors are, when the solve that problem I think you'll see more people play killer because it's not fun to a match and you're a rank 20 and you're matched against 4 rank 1s that destroy you. In a way I think a skill based system will be good but it won't solve the rampant toxic behavior the devs allow

I myself was one pip away from red ranks (rank 5 with 4 pips) on survivor but now I am 9 with 0 pips :(
And I believe I was rank 9 (9 and 2 pips) for killer and now 13 which sucks because I was almost purple rank
I play alot of dbd so it shouldn't be a problem to get it back but the amount of progress you lose really sucks

I went from 16 with no pips to 17 with no pips. I'm disappointed, I wanted to go back to 20 so I might be more likely to have matches against yellow rank survivors. Instead, I play one killer match and get a red, two purples, and a yellow. Thanks, game. Saturday night is a crappy night to play, anyway.

Eventually you realise this game is not competitive and that ranks mean nothing. Red ranks is not somewhere you want to be anyway. I like floating in the middle and certainly play risky near rank reset because I would rather reset to yellow than green or purple. How sweaty do you want your killers? :P and if killer main, how many blendette's do you want to swing at in the dark?

I was Rank 9 two pip and it sent me to Rank 13 two pip when it's supposed to just send me to Rank 10

I agree with you so much. I play once in a while. Enough to keep me red rank, but not enough for me to enjoy the sweat red ranks bring.

If you don’t rank down a color, resetting the game should work. It happened to me I was purple and stayed purple, but I restarted the game and I went to green.

Sorry to hear that TinyMoon3, but this genre of game does not test more than raw actions, I understand how you feel about it, it’s so frustrating to try to juke the killer without putting yourself in dangers way just to be accounted for stealth and no more, but try harder, I’m just 2 weeks old at this game and I already got to 1 red ranks with just skills of 3 survivors, Claudette, Meg and Bill, nothing more, it’s all trying to make the best out of what you have, keep it up! And take care!
