Opinions on Forced Penance?
Not gonna lie, the perk has not been too shabby for me from what I've dabbled with. Inflict broken on someone, chase the person they were protecting, and after you down them and hook them, chances are the person affected by Forced Penance is still broken. 60 seconds of no-heal is longer than you'd think.
How do others who have used it feel about it?

Agreed. The buff to it actually makes it pretty decent now. I've even found survivors hiding because of it (when I downed someone, they became broken letting me know they took a protection hit and someone else is hiding around a corner).

Lol, I didn't even think about that. It's like a tiny Infectious Fright.

Absolutely terrible perk.
I don't want them gen rushing, I want them to waste time healing.
4 -
I don't want them healing. I prefer da one-shots.
2 -
Don't like it at all. Sloppy is a way better choice, if people are broken they just do gens. If people are affected by sloppy, some of them will choose not to heal still but at least if they do decide to heal it wastes a lot of their time.

We see how significant that is on Plague, which is not very. There are more than enough pallets and windows to have all the gens done before they run out.

Plague is basically giving up her whole power to do that, whereas other Killers are at most giving up one perk slot.

Survivors staying one shot can be heavily punished with the right killers if you play them right.
To be fair, Plauge literally only has that, and nothing else. If survivors don't use the fountains, she is just an M1 killer with no power. If survivors don't heal against other killers, well then that's more dangerous since those killers still have their power that make them stronger.
And even then, some people consider the Plague to be quite strong, at least on the balanced maps.
No doubt gen rushing and not healing can be very devastating for the killer, but it can also shift very easily and become devastating for the survivor team if the killer plays well enough.

Look at it this way. Good survivors won't be wasting time healing against almost any killer whether you are running Forced Penance or not. That is for a reason. This means against good survivors that perk is doing nothing.
It's actually even penalizing you because now you gave up a perk slot for it.

I feel like it really depends on the team. Goes from pretty good to worthless in that sense. I don't even think I've been able to use it once. But I don't play red ranks.

And for giving up a perk slot to run Forced Penance, how often are you expecting a body block? It's highly situational. You are hurting yourself more by giving up any of the other meta perks than what Forced Penance gives you.

Not everyone likes to run meta perks all the time. Some of us like to dick around with other stuff too. And that includes being at r1.

I'll trade a perk for health states. :P

I'd rather use mad grit honestly.
0 -
Mad Grit is a meme perk used only in meme builds.

I just don't see the appeal of forced penance.
Most of the time body blocking happens when you try to hook survivor. But that actually helps you because now you got them injured and they need to heal. With this perk they will just focus on gens.
The other situation in which body blocking happens is when you chase an injured survivor to the exit gates and the teammates prevent you from downing the injured survivor. At that point this perk is useless.

It doesn't even have to be deliberate body blocking. If two people are together, and you whack the healthy guy, you can effectively put a pin on them for later while you focus on the already injured one. Then when you resume things with the first guy, it's unlikely they would have healed, saving you half a chase.

I still find it utterly useless. Even at 60 seconds of broken, it really doesn't matter.
Either 1. You chase the blocker, and then Broken is meaningless because they wouldn't be healing in this situation anyway..
Or 2. You chase the blockee, and the other survivor does something more productive like work on a gen, open a gate, prep for a save, etc. They still probably wouldn't have been healing anyway, but if they were, that would've been more beneficial for you.
You WANT survivors to waste time healing. I really don't understand this perk. I see the synergy they were trying to do with Deathbound, but it's just so situational and doesn't work.
It should just be an instadown. Token based instadown, like Mettle of Man, but for killer. Every 3/2/1 protection hits, the next is a instadown. Makes a lot of sense for Pyramid Head too, both character-wise and gameplay-wise.
Imagine you play your cards right, and have had the blocker Tormented. Maybe use ToT, or Deathbound to sneak up on the two, instadown the blocker, send him to cage, and immediately resume chase with the blockee. This could be such a simple change to make it a good perk, but people seem really scared to have good perks now.

Unless they intend on using Self-Care for who knows what reason, I'd rather have the Survivors be in a one-hit state for a shorter chase than take a small amount of time being healed up by someone.
2 -
I think this would be a good Stealth Killer perk.
0 -
My point is that you'd get that health state even without the perk.
0 -
It's not so short that it doesn't matter. That's precious time of them healing instead of doing gens or something more important.
Also so the plan is, hit them, let them run off, chase the blockee and eventually find the blocker before the 60 seconds ends? Okay. I still think instadowns would make for a much stronger/exciting perk, but sure.
1 -
Not from my experiences. :P

I wasn't terribly impressed. Protection hits aren't super common. 0 - 3 broken statuses a game isn't worth a perk slot imho.
2 -
i dont like it, its pretty niche for a status effect thats useless to me- i want survivors to heal so they waste time
i would’ve loved to see them buff it to expose people who took protection hits, it would’ve been niche but rewarding to use

On a Killer with an insta-down, you have no reason to use FP, obviously. On Killers without, there aren't any insta-down perks that I actually like to use.
0 -
As someone who consistently runs Deliverance, 60 seconds of broken are really not that scary. And because I body block for someone only once in a blue moon, you're probably not even gonna proc it on me.
1 -
I don't see your point. Although it'd be interesting if my version of FP was still the same as FP rn, where even non M1 attacks apply FP. So a Huntress could throw a hatchet and instadown. Although I think that's even a little too strong. Sure, Billy and Leatherface won't benefit from it as much as other killers would but that wouldn't mean it's useless. An instadown against bodyblockers as ANY killer sounds extremely useful. Especially Pyramid Head.

Top tier perk on plague
0 -
It shouldn't ? There's no mention of this in the perk's description and I think I saw someone using Deliverance + No Mither once.
0 -
It should be pretty awesome on Killers who like to spread damage, this Perk will keep the damage for at least a minute.
Should have some nice synergy with Thanatophobia.
0 -
Actually, pairing it with infectious fright might be really good. Be able to find the broken person that much easier
0 -
Forgive me if I was misinterpreting you, but were you suggesting that FP causes insta-downs instead of Broken?
0 -
Too situational. You might go an entire match without using it even once.
