Will we ever get to battle the entity.

I think this would really sound great if we actually all got to battle the entity. "The giant tentacle monster" from the sky that whisks away our bodies, and get OUT of the trial once and for all.... Every story has an end, or does it?

Also, that film project being worked on, Saved By Daylight, could be an amazing companion to the lore in detailing stuff you can't really play out(Such as that final boss battle you mentioned).

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of a DBD2 when this game already has so much into it, but I do see how it could mark as a good transition point way down the line.

All in all this is a pretty neat idea, I actually expanded on how the game mode would work in another post over here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/165872/escaping-the-entity#latest

I think it would be cool that at least the person playing as killer could play as the entity. maybe what happens is make it a rando event or something that the game chooses to enhance this as a "boss fight" only a player can take control. It would require COOL down abilities and a much longer trial. in order to make it stressful and challenging. A large map that is round-like.

    • The entity is a centralized being. such as a tree of VINES and thorns.
    • The central tree has an EYE (okay we know, LORD of the rings), still a scary thing.
    • Tendrils can FIRE up through the ground.
    • Tendrils can descend from the sky.
    • immobilizes a player, they have to pry the player from the grasp of the entity (cool down ability).
    • Thrash the player against ground and objects.
    • complete objectives in order to finish the trial.
    • Dark map, fog.
    • 4 or 5 abilities and 2 special attacks.
    • lockers would have to be utilized for attack avoidance. as well as other mechanics to provide the player with a way to survive.
    • Damage meters for players?

Trial thoughts: Another cool effect would be a bright light from the sky, and the entity would be pulling souls down from the sky every so many minutes, putting them into chambers and survivors would have to bust OUT the souls from these vessels. earn points and they would go back "up" and out. The survivors de-power the entity by freeing these souls, as it feasts off of them.

Lore THEORY: you have somehow found a way into the entity's resting layer, battle the entity as it is pulling souls from the world you once knew, into it's own trial of terror and torture. Free the other poor souls in this trial, and stop the entity, at least. for now.

Im just saying this needs to be the ultimate trial. It might not be a "game ending" scenario, but at least the survivors have saved the few, for now.

This would be a big No for several reasons.

    1) the entity feeds on HOPE, and so the only way to make her less powerful is to deprive survivors of hope. Survivors with no hope wouldn't struggle against a weakened entity, and survivors with enough hope would keep the entity strong.

    2) this goes awfully against the whole point of the game.

    3) some killers... Many, i would say, love this new world, and joyfully feed the entity.

    4) the entity is essentially NOT on the same plane of existence of the survs and killers, and the survs/killers have not the power to shift their plane. Is the entity that summons them on a specific plane every time, even allowing them to run away and returning to the campfire is something the entity does, no one is forcing the entity to do it. Also, when the entity manifest itself (to block things, or even to harvest the survivors on hooks) we can see only a small part of the entity, and that simple part of it is still quite strong since when a Survivor (kate i recall) threw a rock against her claws the rock bounced away making no damage at all, and that rock came from a plane of existence NOT CREATED by the entity, a plane where the entity had to accept the rules of nature etc etc.. this is the only reason that rock actually bounced instead of simply phasing through the claws. In dbd we are INSIDE one of MANY plains of existence created and ruled by the entity itslef.

So, since all the weapons and stuff players use during the trials are actually created BY or are ALLOWED by the entity will, if the players, which are the TOYS of the entity EVER EVEN THINK of starting a riot, the entity would simply strip them of all their weapons, tools, powers, clothes, organs, blood etc etc .. leaving them in a painful state for enough time for them to remember that rebellion is not an option. And then they would not be cleansed of the memories of that suffering, instilling an even stronger instinct of obedience in them all. Or they could simply be erased from the plains of existence all together (remember many survivors and killers died before getting into the realms, so they would simply stop existing) and She could find new toys for the trials.

So, gameplay wise, this would be absolutely against the point of the game, and lore wise this would be like going into super mario world and suggest Mario is actually a vampire and bowser is trying to save princess from mario. Funny, but senseless

In the current state of the game I agree with you on most of these points, but I think with all the archive chapters we are getting, eventually we are going to understand the Entity more and more and with things like the hatch existing there has to be some kind of key that can be used to actually fight the entity.

Either way, its something that we can really only speculate on but it at least has some merit as opposed to your mario analogy.

I don't think it possible to do anything to the Entity, considering that it doesn't just "hold the strings", its power fuels and creates everything we see in the game, it keeps survivors alive and so on.

Imagine being in simulation and trying to challenge the person who is controlling it from the outside. That's what DbD technically is. Trials, fireplace everything, except probably the Observer's lair (but who knows, I believe he is just a pawn and he hasn't escaped the grasp of the Entity) is fully under Entity's control and is created by it. Those who try to oppose have their will crushed and the most stubborn ones get eradicated. There is no escape. No way out. Nothing.

    This.

    Except there is.

There's a way out and it's made clear by the Observer that the survivors and killers we have ingame, as shown by Dwight and Claudette, are the ones who will find the way to escape the Entity.

The question is "where will they escape". I highly doubt they will ever just get "free". More likely thrown away into The Void or some other place like that or simply allowed to finally die.

I've wondered if they would ever find a way back into the "Real world". I mean could this be something where they gain fervor and make it back to life or like someone said "They are finally allowed to pass away in peace".

    Interesting!

With how powerful the entity is anybody who tried to fight it would just be instantly killed. You can't even injure it, it's a cosmic entity.

The Observer makes it pretty clear there's a difference between the Void and wherever the lucky survivors and killers that escape end up. The Void is the last place anyone wants to be.

I mean, I don't think the Entity would just "let them escape" and would either trick them or will simply eradicate them once it will understand their motifs.

  • Mikeadatrix

Of course the Entity wouldn't let them escape, why would the captor let the captive out when it sustains them? All I'm saying is that the survivors and killers we have ingame find a way to outwit the Entity one way or another. Perhaps through sacrifice or martyrdom. Point is, there's a way out.

In that case they are going to fail. Everything that surrounds them are pocket dimensions under complete Entity's control and everything that is in them is made by Entity. It's like trying to win in a game against the person who created that and is able to change the rules in his favour all the time

Also, killers are not going to cooperate with survivors as Entity has some effective ways of forcing them to do what it wants.

Dude, I'm literally just telling you what the Devs have put out. It's not even a matter of failure at this point, they do get out of the Entity's dimension. Whether or not they go back home, to a new universe all together, or something completely different is unknown. The irrefutable point is simply that the characters ingame do escape. Headcanon all you want, BHVR released official information that contradicts your views.

It would be interesting to see what they have in store for us on this one. I know that archives tells a bit of the story. But interactive instances and encounters would be much more meaningful.

"Death is not an escape" - The character dies on the hook. They return to the camp fire, to be sent into a trial again.

"The player pulls the exit gate switch, runs out of the trial and goes where?" Back to the camp fire?

"The killer spawns in and hunts the survivors down" - The entity has selected the most iconic MOVIE franchises of all times and makes them a reality? We know the entity is an avid movie-goer.

The entity is FLAWED: Sees V8 Motor run without a cylinder head and valves to make the motor run. Hatches? Keys? The what-ifs.
