If a survivor disconnects during loading why does the killer depip?

Seems like an easy mechanic to correct, if no game was played why do we get punished because a stranger disconnects?

As far as I am aware, you don't actually depip, its just a visual bug

oh that's reassuring, not gonna lie, feel a bit stupid for missing that one

If someone DC's in the loading screen, you aren't supposed to lose anything because of the match that you never got to play, including pips. However, sometimes you just lose pips/items/add-ons/offerings. I have no idea why. It doesn't happen often, and it seems to be more likely if you actually finish loading into the game and start moving around.
