Soo is there a point in getting the anniversary cosmetics?
If every prior exclusive cosmetic had been given away, what is the point of trying in all future "events" ?
This announcement was a nice kick in the head, as there is 0 compensation for veteran players. All we got is a "hey I got those items during the event!"
But what is the point of trying to get cosmetics in all future cosmetics if we keep trying to remove any exclusive items,(and let's not forget that dbd mobile has exclusives)
Anyone can explain to me, because this just show events are more useless then ever

Nope they'll just give them out in a year or so once new players come and claim its "in the communities best interest"

More bloodpoints during the event

And also propably the cosmetics will normally be to buy, when during the event you can earn them for free

but even then, they give 1/4 of all cosmetics
Yea I am starting to see that
At least tf2 gave a reward to veteran players, all we get is nothing

Do you seriously only care about a cosmetic if it’s exclusive? That’s sad.

This boggles my mind too, I want MY character to look like I WANT. I want him or her to look cool for me to enjoy thats it

So you are unable to understand that they give them away cause thir prior database wasnt able to keep track on who got it during the Event while having issues that players lost them? Sometimes i really doubt humankind.

Well that's what most people care about, you think veterans would sport their legacy cosmetics if they weren't exclusive? I know I wouldn't use legacy if every random Joe had it.

If you think you’re “showing off,” with legacy you aren’t.

We get to have them and use them for however like before they become free for everyone. Good enough to me.

? English please?

I mean, you get to use them before anyone else. Everyone else has to wait for however many years it takes for them to be free. They are exclusive during that time. That's the point.

The cosmetics they gave away were for minor events and not very great ones at that, in the grand scheme of things these events don't matter especially in comparison to something like the reoccurring Hallowed Blight event and the fully corrupted serum cosmetics.
Even if they do give away the 4th anniversary rewards for free in the future, you'll likely have been one of the exclusive owners (people who participated) of those event cosmetics for over a year or more, maybe 2 years or 3. There's also no guarantee that they will ever release these cosmetics, so if you want to hedge your bets and see if you come out on top 2 or 3 years from now be my guest.
I also can only and naturally assume that this decision was made for similar reasons to why they made a bunch of previously exclusive cosmetics free for everyone. People were essentially selling cosmetic codes of unique cosmetics online for hundreds of dollars, sometimes scamming people out of their money if the codes were fake. I assume it's possible people might be trying to sell their accounts to profit off of these (now formerly) exclusive cosmetics although I think this is less likely if you take an actual look at these cosmetics. They don't actually look all that special to warrant hundreds of dollars, but then again so were former cosmetics like Dweard, just average cosmetics that were highly sought after and paid for hundreds of dollars because of how exclusive they were. So it's possible the same thing is happening again.
This was a topic of discussion about a year ago in 2019, here's Paulie Esther's video on it covering the official blog post:
It's a tough call, and there's a valid point to be made for both sides but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter all that much. If you're wondering "what's the point then?" to participate in events and grind for rewards and I'll tell you: it's to have fun. That's about the short of it, and the only reason you need to participate, it's fun, it shakes up the pace and tone of the game (for better and for worse, it's different and that's all I care about anyway) you and the rest of the DBD community get to celebrate in game and be a little more lighthearted, and a little less sweaty a few times around the year. And that's honestly good enough for me.
If there's anything important to take away from what I've said, it's definitely in that last paragraph.
