Respect is earnt not given. Everyone I meet and encounter do not have my respect until they prove to me that they deserve it.

I have a universal idea of having a baseline level of respect to every single person regardless. I always engage in conversation with new people assuming that they're a decent person and I withdraw my respect if that person doesn't deserve it.
