I think I'm in love with Plague. Best builds?

I played as Plague for her crown and I had a daily. I hadn't played her since shortly after release because I wasn't a huge fan. But I've been playing her a lot over the past few days and I've seen her in a new light. She may be my new favorite killer.

What are the best perk and add on combos for her?

    Thanatophobia (Literally the only perk you need with Plague)

    Infectious and monitor are a good combo. I run infectious, monitor, corrupt and BBQ. Thanatophobia is a trash perk, and a complete waste of a slot on her. I seriously don't know why people keep recommending people use this perk, it's so bad and useless. She benefits from aggression and snowballing as much as possible so anything to help in a chase or to get the jump on a survivor is good on her.

    Otzdarva made a recent video with a fun Plague build you can try, but you better watch it to understand how he use it. I tried a copule of games with it and won pretty easy in red ranks.

    Otherwise I mix around a bit with my own builds but I do like Monitor on Plague.

    the perk literally forces people to choose whether or not they want to cleanse or have slower gen progression. The perk was tailor made for plague. It literally adds to your idea of snowballing and aggression. If people decide they want to cleanse then they add to your stronger power variant and you become much more deadly as a result, if they don't then you get more time to chase and everyone is one shotable. damn good perk on her.

    Everyone seems to cleanse on Nintendo Switch against plague. Maybe that was just my experience though

    She's a fun Killer. I was in the same boat as you, didn't like her that much at first but checked her out later and I ended up really liking her. I use BBQ, Pop, Thana, and Dying Light with the add-ons Black Incense and Vile Emetic:

    • BBQ is a good perk in general. Extra BPs plus information.
    • Pop helps Plague with gen pressure. If Survivors are that scared of getting sick, they'll let the gen continue to regress while they look for one that you haven't infected.
    • Thanatophobia works really good because how often you'll have Survivors injured. This helps a lot against teams that want to stay injured and pump out gens.
    • Dying Light's Obsession healing bonus can mean nothing to Plague because of her power. You can have extra slowdown while not having to worry about faster heals. If the Survivors do cleanse to keep their fast heals, you can use your Corrupt Purge and become a 115% Huntress. Even a low number of stacks works out since it stacks with Thanatophobia. You can easily have a 20% slowdown for a good portion of the game.
    • Black Incense gives you a lot of information. You'll be finding Survivors left and right with this add-on.
    • Vile Emetic breaks Survivors faster, which is always a good thing. Shortens the chase and gets Thana and Black Incense to activate sooner.

    If you somehow can't tell by now, my build hates injured Survivors. Slowdown from Thana + DL combo and information through Black Incense. If you want, you could replace BBQ or Pop with Sloppy and not need to use your power to make the DL obsession bonus useless. Sloppy + Thana = no healing bonus.

    I use BBQ/PGTW/M&A/CI every game.

    BBQ and PGTW are practically base.

    I use Corrupt because I do think of Plague as a set up killer. You want to infect gens and then survivors. Based on their reaction you’ll adjust your playstyle.

    M&A to reduce survivor reaction time. Whether to puke on them or to one shot a broken survivor.

    This build works great for me.

    Ruin/Surveillance/Bamboozle/Infectious

    Plague is all about spreading the infection early. As others have said, Thanat is wildly overrated. The modifier isn't significant even when fully stacked, and even then, survivors can just cleanse. Then you have a dead perk slot. Your Plague build should be tailored for downing people and snowballing whether they cleanse or not. The tiles that will cause her the most trouble in either mode are long wall jungle gyms and shack. Bamboozle will force the pallet down early at worst, or get you an easy hit if you mindgame it and time the vault correctly.

    Blood Echo. That's it. That's the build. If they don't cleanse you basically permanently disable Dead Hard, or whatever Exhaustion perk they have. So many survivors rely on their Exhaustion perk and collapse HARD when you take it away from them.

    Both thanta and dying light are not optimal since they will only slow down gen speeds. The healing reduction won't apply since everyone just cleanses at fountains if they want to heal so you are not getting like half the value of the perks. I would only use pop if you want gen regression.

    This one is probably my favorite. You get 3 power activations guaranteed and blood echo will really punish anyone who doesn't cleanse. Without the apples I might swap out blood echo for a chase perk since plague without her power is pure M1 and can be run pretty hard by strong windows or strong buildings by high ranking survivors.

    "Rock x Hard Place" Plague Build:

    Dying Light, Thanatophobia, Surge, BBQ/Corrupt intervention/Pop goes the Weasel.

    Add-ons: Efficiency, Cooldown, or Black Incense.

    Summary: This build is designed to heavily punish survivors that refuse to cleanse. 4 stacks of DL + full Thana debuff = -28% repair efficiency. Surge popping a gen with its 8% damage can normally be repaired in 6 seconds, but with this build it ends up taking around 13 which buys you more time to pressure the survivors. The only team member that is mostly immune to the heavy slowdown is the Obsession, so after hooking them twice, just leave them slugged every time you down them afterwards unless/until you've already killed 1 or 2 survivors. If they choose to cleanse in order to defeat the slowdown caused by Thanatophobia however, you just take advantage of the best ranged damage in the game and really let them have it. Typically by the time there are 3 gens remaining the repair progress is slowed to a crawl. The Survivors are literally screwed either way: Cleanse = Get rocked by Plagues ranged attack. Don't Cleanse = Remain in a 1 shot state and suffer very slow gen progress.

    Rock... meet Hard place.

    Dying Light is really underrated on Plague. Pretty bad perk overall imo, but amazing on Plague since the Obsession won't really be healing other survivors since Plague's power.

    My go to plague build is: BBQ/ Infectious/ M&A/ Thana

    BBQ is great in general and I always want double BP. M&A allows you to sneak in close and get the infection going, and also pairs well with Infectious (larger terror radius in chase means you get a larger range for Infectious when you get a down). Thana forces them to choose whether or not to cleanse and kind of puts them in a lose lose situation. If they don't cleanse, reduced speed on everything. If they do, you get more fountains

    Corrupt intervention, Thanatophobia, Dying light, Pop goes the weasel.

    use with add ons: Black incense and severed toe.

    at the beginning, head for the farthest generator from your starting point, infecting a few generators along the way. But dont take too long doing this. Corrupt intervention gives you more breathing room to multi-task at the beginning, allowing you more time to corral survivors and infect working generators to get them infected or prevent them from working. Once you find a survivor, infect as many as you can as quickly as you can to activate Thanatophobia and the black incense. dont be afraid to break chase with one infected to infect someone else, you need as many infected as you can get at any time. and the severed toe will likely get someone to max infection fairly quickly, or prevent them from doing gens. either way is good for you. the black incense will help you find survivors quickly to down and boost Dying Light while often charging Pop. it also gives you an idea of which gen to use Pop on most efficiently.

    The incense also let you free up a perk slot from detection perks to more slowdown perks, and it's better for detection than most detection perks anyway. A lot of people like the Vile emetic, but IMO, that's a noob trap, as you can only vomit-chase one person at a time, whereas the severed toe allows you to just give a quick spit one one person then switch to another, so that the first person will max out their infection soon enough by playing, doing your work for you.

    The gens only take an extra 12.6 seconds to complete with everyone affected by Thana. That's not a lot of time saved. It'll take her well over 10 seconds to catch up to a survivor who sprint bursted away. The extra time you get from thana really doesn't do much at all, and she has better perks. And say survivors do cleanse, the ones who know what they're doing will use a fountain in a dead zone or across the map where there are no gens, so to get your power you'd need to spend so much time hauling ass across the entire map and lose all pressure just to get a power that ultimately isn't even that good if survivors aren't grouped up.

    Thanata is a bait perk, don't fall for it. It looks better than it is. The numbers just aren't there even with all survivors injured.

    Pop, Infectious, Corrupt and Discordance are all great perks for her.

    I have two to three versions of a build

    1.) Devour Hope, Corrupt Intervention, Infectious Fright, PGTW

    Devour Hope can be hidden with your corrupt purge, I find it very useful when working.

    2.) Monitor & Abuse, Ruin, Surveillance, BBQ

    3.) Save The Best For Last, Corrupt Intervention, M&A, PGTW

    id say- bbq, pop/corrupt intervention, infectious fright, and a flex perk slot (id run blood echo personally but it doesn't really matter)

    Thanataphobia seems super good on her, but the numbers suck even with everyone injured. it only increases gen speeds by about 13 seconds with everyone injured, which is virtually nothing, imo. Pop is just way better in most cases

    Watch this Otzdarva Plague build its very good!

    Also got to reccomend the build Fungoose used for his 116, 4k streak no ruin (before ruin change) on stream.

    It was: Discordance, Pop, Infectious Fright, and Corrupt Intervention.

    For me, it's BBQ, Infectious, PGTW, and a filler. Thana is a decent pick. Blood Echo and Dying light also. Brutal Strength could come in handy.

    Contrary to popular belief, Thanato isn't very good on Plague. It's effectiveness comes from slowing the speed of gen repairs AND healing. Guess what? It doesn't affect cleansing speed, and that's the only way survivors heal themselves, unless you're playing M1 Plague without Vile Purge.

    Those 12.6 seconds can be the deciding factor in a game like DbD. Even two seconds can have a huge impact on games. If all four Survivors want to cleanse, there's no way they'll all be on the other side of the map away from the gens. You get one corrupted pool for free at the start, which can help force Survivors to cleanse close to you.

    Thana's healing penalty will come into play when using your basic attack would be a better idea than using your power, which is going to happen quite a bit.

    Everybody is going to tell you run Thanatophobia and (maybe) dying light, because survivors will be injured a lot so gen speed will be slower. It makes sense, but thanatophobia decreases generator and healing speeds, and survivors can't normally heal so they won't have that problem. If they cleanse, thanatophobia will do nothing for you. If they're focused on generators, they'll likely finish 1 or 2 before you can get everybody sick and actually get use out of thanatophobia. It's a mediocre build in my opinion. My current build is: Infectious Fright, Discordance, Monitor & Abuse, and Barbecue & Chili. Discordance and Monitor help with finding people at the start, which is good because the start of a plague match really determines the outcome; if you find 2 or 3 survivors really quick and puke on them, you'll probably win that game. If it takes you a while to find someone, you probably won't get everyone. Discordance and Monitor help a lot (in my experience) with this. Infectious Fright is good for plague as it can help you get more people sick very quickly, or down everyone with corrupt purge. And Barbecue just for the extra bloodpoints really. The auras are nice but they're not really necessary. Especially if you have the black incense addon and you can already see everybody vomiting all over the place.

    It helps when I go against people who don't cleanse. It allows me slowly build stacks and punish then harder for being injured. And it helps me down faster so I can puke on someone or something.
