Why are so many purple rank killers using noed?
So today I was playing Xbox dbd with some friends and we kept getting purple rank killers using noed, I counted and we got 15 killers in a row with noed, I thought not a lot of people used it especially in purple ranks. What’s going on?

It's a second chance perk that can turn the game around. Ofc people will use it, just like survivors use theirs.

The perk really doesn't make the kill use any skill or learn from anything its just so you get a kill, unlike other second chance perks

I also wouldn't call perks rewarding unsafe unhooks or hitting a skillcheck after getting caught skillful but everyone has different opinion on what is skillful. In my opinion, quite a few of these perks could use some additional changes on both sides.

Neither does DS or Unbreakable. Killers can have a no skill perk.

Everyone plays the way they like to play. It's that simple. The perk exist so you're going to have players who use it.

Purple rank killer who uses NOED here, I basically just run it for revenge I guess? To guarantee a kill or even two after being run around all match by people who are way better than me.
Survivors won't hesitate to bring their busted perks, why should I feel bad for bringing mine?

Because survivors don't do totems making NOED a useful perk for killers during end game.

Ok I can see now why someone would use noed. I’m just confused as to why I’m seeing an increase in those better ranked killers using it. I’ve never gone against that many noeds in a row

Actually DS stops tunneling, its a good perk just for that reason but if you wanna complain about it then leave them on the floor, I agree on the adrenaline part which is why I prefer not to use it.

Probably because they had 15 games in a row of red rank survivors who didn't clear totems.

Probably because SWF gen rush so hard that even the best killers get 5 gen in what, 5 to 7 minutes of game? Or maybe because when they're SWF (sometimes even not SWF) they go for potato unhooks 'cause all of them are running unbreakable +DS + adrenaline so the killer can't even "ignore" the DS? I don't know, pick your poison.

Surv obj time is 420seconds. 105 each. So honestly the match can end in 4 minutes or less if they move from one to the next.
Is that enough time to hook and kill survivors on every killer ? No.
Every second spent chasing is 3 survivors doing gens. Tick tick tick. Minute long walk across the map and successful chase 240 surv obj seconds left congrats games almost done at first hook
Most killers don't have mobility to cover that.
So noed. At the least you can move quick and get someone at the door for a down. Now if they hook rush with bt and ds its still literally impossible to stop them.

With matchmaking the way it is right now, it's quite possible they've been going up against survivors a lot better than them and getting stomped. That's what's been happening to me a lot. In a match last night I burned a cake (as killer) and a couple survivors burned cakes and someone burned a BPS. Know what happened? They gen rushed so hard and avoided interacting with me so much that the player who scored the most points got a base of 12k. I got 8k. Even with my cake and the BPS, that's less than a normal decent match with no offerings. If that's how it's going for all killers right now, it's hard to blame them for using NOED just to try to get something out of matches so they're not a complete waste of time.

It's not so much of a 2nd chance perk like DS but more of a punishing perk. If the survivors ignore totems and rush gens they run the risk of running into noed. A lot of killers need all the time they can get because they lack map pressure like some others.

I'd think it's because when we throw out the rule book titled "perks each side is allowed to use":
NOED is a decent perk.
Before regression perks existed, NOED was the original meta perk.
It won't flat out win you games... well, not unless survivors just feed you downs. Opening a door is 19 seconds. How all 4 survivors go down in that time is beyond me.

honestly, you cant even call it a second chance perk anymore.
dont get me wrong, it defenitely was one! but when the 1.5.0 update dropped and changed it into a Hex perk, it shifted from being a cheap second chance for killers / a "reward for failure" to a punishment for those who ignored the totems throughout the trial.
had they just done bones they wouldnt suffer the insta down right now. its entirely in the survivors hands whether this perk activates or not, which no longer makes it a valid "second chance perk" for the killer.
let me explain further:
a "second chance perk" is a perk that will activate and help you out in a scenario where you screwed up. Dead Hard for example lets you continue a loop and dodge a hit when you previously screwed it up - it allows you to avoid the punishment.
however, NOED doesnt do that. while it does have the aspect of turning an unfavorable situation the killer is in into a favorable one (which makes it seem like a second chance perk), there is no guarantee for it to ever activate. the killer can screw up as badly as they want, if the survivors did bones, there wont be a NOED to save them - no matter what they do.
if the killer was able to deactivate Dead Hard by maybe destroying something on the map, Dead Hard would aswell no longer be a second chance, but instead act as punishment for the killer not getting THEIR secondary objective done (exhaustion add ons do not count, as not every killer has access to them. it has to be something that every killer is able to do by default).
so the only thing that stands between NOED and it being a "second chance perk" is the currently existing totem requirement.

it’s an effective perk against swf. if, as a killer, you’re getting molly whopped in the gen battle because all the survivors have BT or DS or are body blocking and saboing ever hook, then you have a chance to return the favor with noed.
u never know what kinda gaming day a killer has had lmao they might’ve had red rank swf all day & just need end game satisfaction.

Noed is like a second chance perk for the killer, and its a useful one, if the survivor cleanse totems to prevent noed, you have more time to patrol gens, if they not, you have a instadown perk

You said that you run it for "revenge". I say you run it cuz you're bad. Like you can know survivors are better than you before the match starts? Sounds like that. Its a crutch perk and should be removed from the game.

I wouldnt say removed, but changed yes. The idea where it turns off when you interact with a gen, do a heal or something like that sounds good to me. But i guess we wont see that.

With the way matchmaking is there's a pretty safe bet the survivors will be better than me. I'd rather have it and not need it than get to the end of the match wishing I'd brought it after all.

No ds punishes a killer for hooking a survivor within that 60 second period you can always slug. Don't mention unbreakable because its still free pressure and its gone after that.

Here's a better question: Why are you or your teammates being downed within 60 seconds?
is it that the killer is camping and/or tunneling....Or is it you or your team misplayed the save and put you/them into a situation where the unhooked survivor can't get away and the savior didn't bother to take a protection hit?
In games where I end up getting a lot of saves DS never goes off not because the killer slugged but I didn't do any bad save that would require DS being used.

For not doing the secondary objective, yes. Do bones. Don't do bones, run the risk of NOED.
Because, you know, the killer is out to kill you. It's in the name. It's the killers objective. Don't blame them if you took a gamble and lost.

Yes it does. The killer still has to win a chase. DS, BT, etc require no skill whatsoever.

NoED punishes lazy survivors who can't be bothered to cleanse totems. So, if you suspect someone of using NoED put some priority in finding and cleansing totems.

And what skill does unbreakable use? What do you learn from it? This is a weird standard to go with.

Your objective is to escape. Generators are the means of doing that, as is doing bones.

it increases your survivability not only being able to get up by yourself but you finish your bar faster to be saved quicker. It's technically more than just a second chance perk. If you agree with using noeds then thats on you lol. All I said is that it doesn't really help the killer improve. I'm the type of person to cleanse totems so it usually isn't my problem to deal with.

And all I did was apply your logic to a second chance perk that survivors use. Im aware of what unbreakable does. Its just interesting seeing survivors try and apply standards that would nuke half their meta.

Yes it stops tunneling, but downing someone, going for another full chase, hook the new person, backing to the first and still taking DS is not how the perk is designed for. This is why I think DS should deactivate after hooking another survivor, the timer doesn't matter, it's the condition.
