Balance Changes to Cages In The New Hotfix
- Removed the ability for The Executioner to see the aura of the Cage of Atonement and survivors inside them
- Added a system that will despawn the Cage of Atonement if The Executioner near it for too long. The Cage of Atonement (and the survivor inside it) will respawn in a new location
Actually? A pretty good change. While will definitely have some consequences, there’s not much you can do about that; blame the people who were face camping the cages and tunneling people off of them for ruining the ability to defend them I guess, lmao
Also, for anyone wondering, the new hotfix supposedly patched a LOT of bugs, like I was hoping. Great job on their part.

Because anti-camping/tunneling perks don't work on cages. That's why they won't do it for hooks, because if you want to rescue/be rescued from a camped hook, you bring the perks.
Edit: I just think this highlights a glaring issue with the cages which they're starting to band-aid fix and we'd all been better off by just having all perks work on them and call it a day.

"I don’t understand why this had to be changed, I’d like to be informed."
Because Pyramid Head has it insanely easy to tunnel. Spawning the Cage as far away as possible does not mean that it is actually far away. Removing the Cage Aura makes it harder to get to the Survivor and despawning the Cage removes the Camping.
With Hooks, Survivors have stuff like Borrowed Time or DS. With Cages not.
These changes should not affect the gameplay that much. But it makes it harder for people who want to tunnel with him.

Okay yeah, very fair points.

This is a great change, so many Pyramid Heads I have faced lately make a B-Line straight to the caged survivor whenever they stick them in it.

Very good changes, also further down it mentions no longer being able to prevent rescues by just standing in front of the cage.

Because it’s a cheap and easy camp. PH could just beeline to the cage and prevent any kind of safe rescue. With hooks you at least have a chance to save someone, but with cages there really isn’t anything you can do (no BT, no DS, and his ranged attack is an area of effect so he can just stand next to the cage and instantly down the saved survivor again).
Removing his ability to see the cage aura shouldn’t affect anyone who wasn’t using the cages for that. It’s still faster than hooking and prevents pallet/flashlight saves and DS, so it still has its uses.

it's just the same tactic they used with Ash. They boosted the sales with a strong mechanic, just to nerf it weeks after. Classic BHVR.

Why there is no information at all about this despawn system? What range is considered near it? After how much time will it despawn?
3 -
Ehhh... Given the reasons, I think it’s a fine change. Besides, it didn’t really nerf him unless you were humping the cages (which I wasn’t thinking about).

Since you can’t see the auras of cages anymore, it’ll probably hardly matter.

That must be why when I play Pyramid Head people will do everything to avoid getting tormented even though it means I down them much faster. I wonder if they feel like they ######### up when I don't immediately run over to camp them like they're used to lol

Lol well if you bought PH because you just want to remove a survivor from the game quickly and without much difficulty then it's a pretty big nerf yeah. It won't make much difference otherwise.

How does this work if you cage a OoO though since you cant see the survivor will they just have a OoO watching you the entire time?
0 -
We’ll have to see, it’s supposed to be out now
0 -
Sorry you can't face camp with PH anymore :/
2 -
How is it a nerf? Unless you camp the cages it shouldn’t affect you at all.

It's a free escape in EGC, of course it affects.
0 -
It was already a free escape in EGC.

Kinda necessary change. But on the other hand it doesn't adress the kinda low reliability of cages. Yes, it helps against hook perks and saves. But it's kinda punishing, when you are forced to hook a survivor, because you know the cage would spawn quite close to somebody else. And quick unhook means less pressure. It also doesn't adress tunneling completely, because you can hook a tormented survivor, and still tunnel them and send them to the cage for the second stage. Still going against him will be less "annoying" now and it's a good change in general.

Very good changes 👍 though I would like to know how close the killer can be before it despawns. Just incase it is still abusable.

Nope. Before this, i can cage survivors if they are downed near the exit gate. But now, if you hook, DS and BT. If you cage, you have no way to defend the cage.

What about looping near a caged survivor? Or take maps with multiple levels like Piggys Map.
As long as it's working like the hook penalty if a survivor is near, the change is totally fine.

This seems like a fair change to me, though as someone that doesnt camp/tunnel the cages im going to miss tge information.

Wow a NERF to this already bad killer? His cages are bad anyway since they spawn so far away survivors can immediately rescue most of the time.
Also, funny they fix "facecamping" on cages but not on hooks.
He is so bad already: His cages hurt him most of the time: Important perks like BBQ and Pop don't work, cages spawn so far away that when survivors spread out the cage spawns next to them for an instant rescue. Avoiding DS and BT isn't that big of a deal since you normally don't tunnel anyway.
His ranged attack can't co over holes or over different heights like stairs and thus it's completely abusable by survivors.
His BP are messed up and so are his emblem points. He is a complete mess and any decent survivor can just avoid his ranged attack and win against him.
I don't understand the nerf.

Yeah, especially since it could make the cage last longer if it’s respawned on the other side of the map.
I feel like you were screwed already if they’re next to the exit and you cage them across the map. Even then, you’re only screwed out of a kill if the survivors go away from the exits to get the person out of the cage.

So we can no longer see where the cage is and if we find the cage it will then disappear and spawn somewhere else LOL

I believe they fixed his power not working in those places in this hotfix.

i called it as the PTB was going live. While i think its an inherently good change, They need to stop making changes like this in the future. This is what extensive testing should do from the PTB not weeks after it goes live lol.

yeah, people needs to open their eyes in front of these scummy tactics, instead of minimizing the thing, just because it was a healthy change.
0 -
There's no way to determine some of the things that made cages unbearable as survivors when the PTB is mostly abused by groups messing around in it. If the PTB was open for longer and gave a reward for playing in it, I think these changes would've been seen before he went live. @Peanits , I think the reward might be a good idea for better testing.

This was inevitable. The only thing that made Pyramid Head good was his ability to tunnel. Without that he's nothing. Even the ranged attack isn't that special and is inferior to what most killers have in their kit. But the devs were obviously never going to let him keep the tunneling ability. This will drop Pyramid Head from mid tier to low tier.

Goid change imo.

A good change, definitely needed.
