The Pathetic Effort to S**t Talk on PS4

So for those of you aren't aware, you can attach a message to a friend request on PlayStation Network. Usually, this mechanic is used to let the person know who you are IRL when you send the request.

In DbD, some PS4 use this mechanic to attach some smack talk to the friend request post game. I know that it's easy to hang out in the lobby on PC and throw some salt around post game but PS4 players go out of their way to search for the person, send them a "friend request" and attach a salty message to it. Over a video game.

What's the saltiest behavior you've personally witnessed in this game?

Yeah i know, its sad and absolutely pathetic, you close your friend requests to stop the crybaby entitled salt that people send, then you proceed to get salt friend requests lmao

Honestly that just makes me laugh. It’s hilarious that they get so angry over a video game that they’ll go to such lengths to make sure we hear what they have to say lol.

I play on Switch and avoid this stuff. No messaging system and no one uses mics. Best just to block people like that and move on. If they are so upset, maybe they should learn from their mistakes or accept that the map wasn't for them. Even the best killers or survivors aren't going to win every single match. I laugh how some killers will end the match immediately cause they didn't get the map that they wanted. One of the best Huntress players in the world on PC does this.

    The most toxic situation?

    A 4 man SWF

usual game until 2 of them were dead (1 gen left)

Im on ps4 and suddenly i got spammed with party invitations from one of the dead survivors.

I figure that it is to gain an advantage (its unbelievably annoying and takes like 30-60 seconds to block them) and it was an SWF.

because of that I go for a slug for the 4k.

they realised it and DCd so the last person could get hatch.

But they didnt find it in the right time and i got the 4k.

I messaged the last person and told her i would have given her hatch but the other toxic people pissed me off.

    reply was like this:

I told them to do that, we are a 4man SWF and im trying to get the escape unbroken with spine chill(i think it was spine chill) archive quest

So I got spammed with this annoying party invitation noise AND DC hatch "tech" in one game.

Also the last person acted like that was usual gameplay.

its even easier on xbox. You dont even have to be friends with someone to send them a message or spam them with party invites while theyre still in their game even. Happens to me all the time as killer. Some even go as far as spamming party invites so im getting constantly notified while im still playing. This community is so bad i swear and its the survivors. Ive never gotten salt from killers post game lol. EVER

Xbox has two different chat channels: Chats and Message Requests. I have Request notifications disabled to avoid seeing "This person sent you a message" spam. So what do they do to bypass and still be annoying? Spam me with party invites instead.

Xbox will let you customize your online communications preferences, but they put all of the things under one option:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites: Everybody/Friends/Block

Can't stop the invite spam without disabling message requests from others too. I play solo and need to be able to see messages from strangers. I can manage the salty messages, but the party invites create an unavoidable audible notification and takes up a portion of my screen.

From my encounters, I definitely see a lot of salt from survivors that instigate this stuff. The only times I see a killer act toxic is from a Ghostface. I see survivors taunting new killers or people trying out a new killer quite often. I've seen people even wait inches from the exit to taunt the new killer. I never do this BS as Killer or Survivor. I'm thinking "Bro, just exit the match". Obviously someone trying out a level 1 killer isn't going to be all powerful as them. Some killers are good at stealth, others are good at ranged and still others are good as full on assault. Obviously someone that is used to Trapper isn't going to be amazing as Ghostface for the first time cause Ghostface is a stealth killer and his knife has a limited range to hit.

Sometimes the smack-talk can actually sour it for them, if played right.

One time, one person was gloating as The Hag, as I was the last survivor downed, saying "You won't escape this round". I reasoned with them that ultimately I would bleed out, so their aim of making sure I won't escape would ultimately prove fruitless. Even when they tried to understand the logic, they made it so that their aim was for me not to escape, but as I pointed to them this was not possible they became more irritated, calling me r******d & even though I was hooked I claimed victory based on their terms. They weren't happy :D

Another time, another survivor in a SWF decided it was important for me to know they were teabagging at the exit gates when opened (I 1k'd, which was alright by me considering). I started to use my psychology training, turning it around and asking them why it was so important for them to let me know and trying to understand what they were compensating for. They became annoyed, eventually calling me "freak" and leaving.

Basically, if anyone is needlessly bitter or salty, if you take your emotions out of it and focus on tactical or clever-dick responses, what they originally believed would be rubbing salt into the wound ultimately sours their victory.

Lately, as killer, my response to "ggez" has been "It's not my job to make the game hard for you. I'm here to find, track, injure, down, hook, and sacrifice survivors. If the game's too easy for you, you can equip perks like No Mither or nothing at all, or you can inform the devs on the official forums."

I play in a respectful way and I had a Cheryl dressed as a Nurse try to teabag and act toxic to me. I basically played stupid and let her escape often to pretend that I was a bad player. Then I took the team out and then took her down and teabagged them as they were struggling and then taken away by the Entity. They weren't happy at all. So yeah use reverse psychology on them at times

Xbox has a separation between"message requests" (people who you have never messaged or aren't on your friends list) and chats (normal). Sifting through my requests is always a fun time.

I got salt last time I played for basement gaming on fathers chapel. He called me a camper boiiii. I said, well every time I tried to leave the area, one of you lot stepped in a trap. Completely true. He then changed his tune to, bla bla bla, average killer. I replied again saying that that's rich coming from the guy I hooked in the basement in less than 5 minutes if the game starting.

Such a sore loser. Im a bad loser too but i get annoyed at myself and show respect to the other side.

I agree it's pathetic. I've had to completely disable messages and friend requests because of this game.
