Whilst you wont be able to really change someones mind (since having a title like that their opinion is already concrete) but more to inform and maybe change the mind of others who read the topic. Its also interesting to see others viewpoints on topics you may disagree with, or even expand on topics you do agree with

Try it. Your cereal won't get soggy as fast and you have better control over your milk to cereal ratio while you eat.

if you start an honest change your mind, you reasonably prep for the discussion
just because someone walks up randomly with half ass thoughts doesn't means you should reverse positions
Well reasoned informed arguments will change a person who's honestly open to discussion
and at the very least helps everyone efine arguments and informs onlookers to both sides of information
The forums are exactly a place for arguments
