Inner Strength or Self-Care?

When you read a title like that, you immediately jump to "inner strength, duh!". But in all honesty when you break everything down, is it really that much better? Self-care obviously takes longer, but when you factor in the amount of time it takes to get inner strength up and running - finding a totem, breaking it, finding a locker - it's almost preferable to just run self-care.

And to add insult to injury, you can only break 1 totem per heal. Inner strength would be awesome if you could stack the totems, but since you can't, that's an awful lot of time spent in between heals when you could just jump straight to using self care.

Which do you prefer?

You should be doing totems anyway.

    Iron Will tbh

I'd rather just stay injured until I find a teammate or come across a medkit in a chest or something

The difference is Inner Strength gamers can ignore Sloppy Butcher, Thanatophobia, Nurse's Calling and even deny NOED so even if it ultimately requires more time it's just more useful and a much safer way to heal.

Play against a Ghostface with Sloppy Butcher, Thanatophobia and Nurse's Calling on an in-door map (to name a very specific example) and you will feel a relief when you run Inner Strength instead of Self Care.

    Neither. Iron Will or Adrenaline

I prefer inner strength. I like hunting down totems to prevent NOED or find hexes anyway. Self care is just painfully slow and I find it to be a time waster.

I prefer not healing with a perk, personally. I'd rather find a teammate or use a medkit than either of these. If I'm going to run Self Care I'm going to be bringing Botany with it, and even then I rarely run it. Inner Strength is pretty inconsistent as it's dependent on the map, teammates, and the killer's perk loadout. It doesn't save that much time either because you need to find the totem, cleanse the totem, find a locker, enter the locker, and leave the locker in addition to the 8 seconds to heal. It can also lead to dumb plays when people try to cleanse a totem out in the open while injured in order to get their perk to work.

Especially with the nerf to toolboxes I find that just bringing a medkit is really useful.

True, but if all survivors are on the hunt for totems, then you're lucky to get one use out of inner strength, whereas with self-care you can use it as many times as you want. Not dismissing the value that is there with inner strength because it is indeed a great perk, but I just seem to find more value with self-care.

That's an excellent point. It's just problematic considering the amount of time it takes to get each inner strength heal up and running.

I can see why you would do that. I would just hate to have to constantly deplete my supply of med kits, or hope and pray that I find one in a chest.

they're both trash waste way too much time just find a teammate or stay injured

I try to get all 5 totems cleansed at start of match so Inner Strength is only good for only 1 heal. Anytime I run a locker perk the killer is running Iron Maiden so it's a jinx for me to run Inner Strength. Self Care is more useful for me, you just need to know when you should and shouldn't use it.

IS is better. Helps the team counter Noed and you heal fast and counter Nurses at the same time.

It only helps noed if you're constantly on the hunt for totems. If everyone is on the hunt for totems then you're lucky to get one use out of inner strength. And in that case you might as well just bring in a medkit and save the perk slot for something else.

Well survivors constantly complains about Noed so if more people brought IS that would be good for everyone. And bringing a medkit is always far better than using a perk for healing. There are times were SC is very useful but overall the healing process from survivors using SC waste so much time plus it's a sure way to get noticed from killer far too often.

And really even if you only would get one heal from IS that should be enough. There are teammates who can heal you also and finding medkits in chests is not rare either.

I find that I usually have more items than I know what to do with, so this hasn't really been an issue for me :) Still, if I were light on Medkits I'd probably rather just find a teammate to help me out when I'm injured. So, for that reason I'd probably prefer to run something like Bond or Aftercare instead of Inner Strength or Self Care, as these are useful in general but will also make it easier to find someone to help heal you in a pinch.

If I really had to choose, though, I'd run Inner Strength in a SWF (easier to find totems / you can better make sure some are left for you) and Self Care + Botany in solo queue (more consistent).
