No Cross-Progression on other platforms
It was quite exciting to see the "Breaking Barriers with Cross-Play and Cross-Progression" news article but my heart sank when I read the following:
"As of today, we cannot make Cross-Progression available on other platforms and we have no guarantee that it will happen. However, we know that this is a community wish, and we will keep trying to make it happen."
Well it is nice that PC, Stadia and Nintendo switch players can use cross-progression, I'm sure that the people who are really wanting this feature are those on platforms that have been around longer. There are many of us who now how PCs that are far more powerful than their XBoxes and PS4 but do not want to have to start from scratch with the grind.
I hope the developers are willing to let us know what the barriers are and since they said they will keep trying, I hope they do not keep us in the dark.

Theyre getting there, this was just an update mostly. From what I can see, if all goes well... I'd give it around September or October.

I'm still confused why there couldn't be cross-progression between Microsoft's platforms... Both xbox and microsoft store share the game in the game pass, and use the same login info and stuff. I don't know the technical stuff that goes behind it, but it would seem that cross-progression between Microsoft/xbox would be easier and would make more sense? idk..
I'm also bummed cause i play on xbox and i will be getting a pc in a few months, losing all the progress and exclusive cosmetics (like the rift) :(

Sony & Microsoft are probably more concerned about lost profits with transferred DLC & Auric cells.
TBH I wouldn’t mind if the DLC didn’t transfer but my progress did.

They confirmed September for cross-progression for PC, Stadia, and Switch. However, judging from this part of their post, cross-progression isn't coming to the other platforms this year, if at all. If they were confident we would have it by September or October, there's no way they would have worded it in a way that made it seem it was completely unlikely.

Just means its possible but they haven't gotten agreements from all parties yet. This isn't a technical issue but a legal one.

I'm really happy with switch/steam cross-progression since I have much more progress on switch and recently got dbd on steam. I think they also chose switch since it's relatively new so less accounts to get through cross-progression. If it all goes well I expect it to come through for the other consoles as well, keeping my fingers crossed for you guys that microsoft and sony will allow it.

If it meant the difference between having cross-play on PS4/XBox or not having it, I would accept purchasing DLC again. I would imagine the auric cells problem would be tricky to deal with though.

Cross progression isn't even active yet, but it feels like a real sellout to give Stadia cross progression, but not actual consoles.

They're going to give consoles crossplay. They just can't guarantee cross progression.

I had the same reaction in regards to PS4/XB1 cross-progression. I honestly don’t care that much for crossplay, just give me cross-progression. I’d prefer to not start all over each time I start the game on a different platform.
