Coudn't we make Vigil a real support perk ?
Vigil doesn't actually do ANYTHING for 50% of all status effects.
Vigil reduces the timer of all negative status effects - but most afflicted negative status effects don't have a timer to reduce! Therefore, that one niche moment where Vigil is supposed to do something - nothing happens.
Here is a list of all status effects, and whether Vigil works with it or affects it.
Blindness
- "Blind Warrior" add on for Wraith - does not work
- "Amantia Toxin" addon for Huntress - does work, saves 6 seconds
- "Kerosene Can" addon for Clown - does work, saves 6 seconds
- "Face Mask" addon for Pig - does not work
- "Hex: The Third Seal" - does not work
Exposed
- 8 different causes can put a survivor into exposed, but Vigil doesn't effect affect ANY of this - not one, and this is the most important status effect - so let's move on.
Hemorrhage
- "Blind Warrior" addon for wraith - does not work
- "Coarse Stone" addon for huntress- does work, saves 6 seconds
- "Fine Stone" addon for huntress - does work, saves 12 seconds
- "Serrated Jaws" addon for pig - does not work
- "Utility Blades" addon for pig - does not work
- "Sloppy Butcher" perk - does not work
Exhaustion
Vigil affects exhaustion, as long as you are not running. If you are exhausted, chances are you are in a chase and need to run. So it's useless anyway. 12 different events cause Exhaustion.
Mangled
- "Begrimed Chains" addon for chainsaws - does work, saves 24 seconds
- "Begrimed Head" addon for huntress - does work, saves 24 seconds
- "Blind Warrior" addon for wraith - does not work
- "Rusted Chains" addon for chainsaws - does work, saves 24 seconds
- "Rusted Jaws" addon for Trapper - does not work
- "Rusty Attachments" addon for Pig - does not work
- "Rusty Head" addon for Huntress - does work, saves 24 seconds
- "Sulphuric Acid Vial" addon for Clown - does work, saves 24 seconds
- "Sloppy Butcher" perk - does not work
Hindered
- "Waterlogged Shoe" addon for Hag - does not work
- "Flask of Bleach" addon for Clown - does not work
- "Yew Seed Brew" addon for Huntress - does work, saves 3 seconds (wow it's like Wake Up!, another ######### Quentin perk)
- "Yew Seed Concoction" addon for Huntress - does work, saves 6 seconds
- The Afterpiece Tonic power for Clown - does work, saves 0.4 seconds
Broken
- "The Legion Pin" addon for Legion - works, saves 12 seconds
- "Deliverance" and "No Mither" are self-afflicted negative perks, so I'm just going to ignore them and say Vigil will not work with them.
And so on.
There's also deep wound, madness and broken from the Plague; but honestly, I think vigil should NOT affect killer powers, but affect everything else.
McLean's (BHVR Dev) DBD Twitch stream back from a year ago been asked "Is there any discussion around a Vigil buff since it doesn't work on most debuffs?" and he responded by saying "We've actually been talking about Vigil a lot recently".
Still nothing happened.
Suggested tweak :
Vigil acts like a beacon of hope - other survivors will want to stick near you so you can get more tokens, and then protect you so you can debuff them. Vigil DOES NOT WORK on the user. It is a 100% selfless team perk.
Is the Obsession exposed by Rancor? Run up to them, take a hit, try to protect them for 16 seconds and negate the exposed effect.
Is the Claudette trying to self-care even though the killer has Sloppy butcher? Heal them yourself and remove the Mangled effect.
Did that Adam just deliverance off the hook? Help out a mate by removing his broken effect early.
I'd like to add a line to the perk that says "Doesn't affect curses or killer abilities" for balance purposes. Vigil will be a perk to counter regular perks and addons.

Unfortunaly, BHVR doesn't want to tweak perks much. They are too afraid that a perk will become too strong and end up being pay2win, like the old Mettle if Man was. Atleast that's what I heard is the reason for it.
Fun thing is that IF they change perks, like we will see in the MidChapter with Billy & Bubba Perks, the perks will get changed from 'Useless' to 'Bad' and only 1 or 2 decent perks, which you won't use except for specific builds or memes.
I'd still love a tweak to the meta, but the devs love only seeing a maximum of 6 different survivor and Killer perks in every game. Thanks. I'd love more Chapters instead of Game Health changes.

Vigil only effects exhaustion so you didn’t need to type that much lol I don’t see a reason to change it to effect other statuses most wouldn’t make much of a difference and I know the real one anyone would want reduced is exposed but...
Most exposed timers aren’t on you it’s a timer the killer has if there even is a timer here is a list of ones it may effect or won’t effect
Trapper: His add on has no timer it just kills you on escape
Hillbilly: Just uses his saw so again no timer
Hag: Devour has no timer it’s until broken
Huntress: Iri Head no timer
Shape: The timer is on the killer so you can’t have any effect on that
Ghostface: Same as Shape
Spirit: Haunted Grounds whole is a timer I’m not sure if it’s one that could be effected but perhaps tho I do doubt it as all survivors have the same timer
Clown: The timer is effected by bottle effect
Cannibal: Uses power like billy
Deathslinger: Doesn’t have any timer
Noed: No timer just until totem breaks like devour
So that one leaves one use of exposed that could even be reduced but is a big doubt as stated

Vigil affects more than just exhaustion. Go actually read the perk.

You know what you can call me an idiot now I guess I’ve never took the time to read the perk besides the first part cuz I was today years old when I realized it effects more then exhaust 😂😂😂 my bad 😳 ignore that part then but still stands on why it can’t effect exposed tho cuz nothing that has that effect would be effected anyways
