The Last Of Us Chapter? (Speculation - Video Games)
I know it's a little early to speculate for Chapter 17, but after recent news that Chapter 17 is apparently licensed, I wanted to dive in to all the possibilities of what Chapter 17 video game licenses we could have.
The Last of us
Recently a new game of The Last of Us 2 was released. After watching a video from EarthtoLydia, it got me thinking (although I'm taking her speculation with a grain of salt so I advise you do the same without getting excited). Recently a dbd survey was published and one of the questions asked was 'From what medium (other than TV and movies) would you like to see new licensed chapters introduced?' and the first option was 'Video Games'. This suggests that the developers have a whole lot of ideas for game licenses (they've also stated before that they've considered iconic horror games, right before Silent Hill was released).
A clicker killer would be terrifying to go against:
The reason it could possibly be The Last of Us is if you go back to July 2019, Stranger Things season 3 was officially released and a couple of months later we received a Stranger Things chapter. This coincides well to the Last of Us 2 and a chapter for it. Of course it could be something else and I'm just looking into things too much however I wouldn't mind a Last of Us chapter.
UNTIL DAWN
I am aware that we have a Wendigo type killer already (Hag), however that doesn't mean there isn't room for another Wendigo. Some may argue that the Wendigo in Until Dawn is too fast and therefore would be OP, however I'm sure BHVR can work their way around a (somewhat) balanced power for it.
The Wendigo in Until Dawn:
I personally would LOVE an Until Dawn chapter, playing as Sam Giddings being chased by Pyramid Head on a Stranger Things map. Also the map would fit well with Mount Ormond as an old snowy cabin among the mountains.
OUTLAST
Admittedly I've never played Outlast, I have however watched No0b3 play it and obviously I've watched Lydia's speculation on it.
A cool killer idea for an Outlast chapter would most likely be:
Richard Trager himself. I think he would be a great addition to Dead by Daylight. The only problem with an Outlast chapter however is we never see the survivor because we're in a first person perspective. So it would be hard choosing which survivor would be sucked into the entity's realm.
Five nights at freddy's
Yes, I'm aware of the recent hype that has suddenly spawned out of nowhere (damn you Robbie the Rabbit!). So if we're talking about possible video game licenses, I can't leave this one out.
Where do I start, as soon as Silent Hill released, the hype for Springtrap rose up and several people even made Fan-made chase music for Springtrap. There is so much hype for him lately.
The most popular FNaf creator has attempted to get in contact with the creator of FNaF to ask if FNaf can make an appearance into Dead by Daylight:
Someone on twitter reached out to Mathieu Cote about the possibility of FNaF coming into Dead by Daylight and apparently this was Cote's response:
Of course this doesn't mean anything and again I advise you take it with a grain of salt. I personally don't think FNaF will be chapter 17 as chapters usually take 5 months to create, sometimes longer and the hype for FNaF only summoned recently. I could be wrong though and FNaF makes an unprecedented surprise for chapter 17 but you never know what the future holds.
The most likely killer for a FNaF chapter would be:
Springtrap himself, and the survivor could possibly be:
Charlotte Emily from the books.
What do you personally think chapter 17 will feature? Try and keep the discussion/speculation civil, if someone disagrees, don't bash them for it, just politely accept it.

I mean we already have a perfect killer if we're going to get a TLOU chapter
hint, she's big, from the sequel, terribly written, psychopathic, sadistic, a lover of golf, murdered the main character after said character saved her life and hated by basically everyone who played the original game
14 -
I'm not really into TLOU, but would be happy if it would be added.
A Until Dawn chapter would also be pretty neat, Sam as the survivor and Hannah as the Wendigo as the killer.
Clementine from the twd telltale games as a paragraph would be fantastic, Lee would be a good option too but I believe Clementine is more popular?
About FNaF, I think the best they could do is either 2 killers, 1 map and 1 survivor (Vanny, Springtrap, the mall and the recently teased guard), 1 killer, 1 map and 1 survivor (the same as before but without Springtrap) or 1 killer, 1 map and 1 survivor (Springtrap, Charlies Childhood home/Fazbear's fright and John or any of Charlies friends (Charlie couldn't be a survivor since she's later to be revealed a robot, meaning she would be useless to the entity.))

The majority of the zeds from Killing Floor would work in DbD as well. Although maybe that's an outdated title.
0 -
You lost me at FNAF. All of this is now trash.

Isn't TLOU PS exclusive? They'd have to make quite the deal to get the chapter on Xbox, PC, and Switch. Until Dawn could work, but I think a skin for hag might be better, thats just me though. I like the idea of FNAF, but perhaps they could make it 1 killer and a map instead of a full blown chapter. Because lets be honest, FNAF doesn't really need a survivor. This is all just my opinion though. I don't know enough about Outlast to say anything on it.
1 -
Last of us? Not even a horror game. Just another take on the zombie survival genre.
Until Dawn? Hag is already our Wendigo.
Outlast? No opinion on that.
FNAF? Yeah, if we have 500 more threads about it, we will surely get it. /s
I always prefer original chapters, but as long as a lincenced chapter is well made, why not?

Don't throw the whole 'We already have this so X wouldn't work' argument, it's old.
Although I said we're allowed different opinions, that argument really isn't the most constructive. It's the same logic with the Clown and Pennywise argument, we have two chainsaw killers, two stalking killers and the legion is inspired by GhostFace and we got GhostFace. So having another Wendigo wouldn't hurt.
0 -
I said keep the discussion civil, calling something "trash" because others like it isn't civil.
4 -
You can have civil or you can justify FNAF. You can't have both.
0 -
There is no "justification", it's all about speculation and people's opinions on it.

Something Licensed?
Resident Evil - Mr. X
Or any Tyrant.
Able to smack survivors as hard as the Oni, but as a base M1. But like Myers has to build it up.
Mori like Freddy (through chest)
Harpoon like Deathslinger (maybe?)
Infect T-virus which has to be cleansed like Plague from Umbrella Stash scattered around map.
🤷♂️

I think TLOU might work as a survivor-only chapter with Joel or Ellie, but I don't think the Clicker or any of the other infected from those games would fit as killers. All of DbD's characters, licensed or otherwise, are individual entities, not generic enemies. There are thousands of Clickers in TLOU, so making one of them a killer is roughly equivalent to making a Dawn of the Dead zombie into a killer. This same argument could be used to devalue the argument for eventually seeing a Xenomorph from Alien as well (since they are a hive colony with a queen), but there was also technically only one Alien in the original movie, just like there was only one Demogorgon that appeared in Stranger Things, giving both some inherent singularity.
As Xzan pointed out, we do already have a Wendigo-inspired killer in the form of Hag. As I've recently learned, the Wendigo itself is a sacred (and evil) Algonquin spirit, so it might actually be controversial to include ANY killer that is specifically called a "Wendigo" at all. There are a few articles talking about how it's been gradually appropriated for Pop-Culture (including Until Dawn's version, as frightening of a creature as it is), but here's the one I read about it in: https://ko-fi.com/post/The-Wendigo-Is-Not-Yours-for-the-Taking-C0C116U8P
I'm a hopeful of eventually seeing an Outlast Chapter. Those games' focus on running and hiding from the things out to get you would be a perfect fit with DbD gameplay. While Trager or Marta (from Outlast 2) would work as killers, I'd personally rather they picked Chris Walker (the giant ex-soldier) instead. Then just use Miles Upshur as the survivor and give him legendary skins of Waylon Park and Blake Langermann (other Outlast protagonists).
I'm not fundamentally against a FNaF Chapter, but I think there are other Slasher/Horror IP's that I would rather see attempted before they turn to FNaF (such as Resident Evil, The Evil Within, and the aforementioned Outlast). Frankly, I'd rather see BHVR make an in-house character inspired by this franchise instead of an actual licensed chapter of it. Though if they ever do license it, I'd say it should be a killer-only chapter, as the FNaF protagonists tend to not have actual physical appearances in the games (pulling someone from the books just to find a survivor feels like a stretch).

Recently a new game of The Last of Us 2 was released, and it was generally well received.
this is where i click back
4 -
It goes the other way around, too. Just because there are already killers who share some stuff, doesn't mean it's good, if we continue with that.
A group of masked people running around killing people reminds me more of the "The Purge" Movie and not Ghostface. But if you have a source that Legion was inspired by Ghostface.. well I would like to see it.
Pennywise could maybe work as some sort of shapeshifter.
Billy was part of the basegame, there was no indication, that the game would get this popular. Behaviour would have been really dumb to not get Leatherface in the game, just because they already have a chainsawkiller. Same argument for Ghostface and Myers.
Do you have any idea which power a wendigo should have? I know they are pretty agile in the game. But Pig and Demo already fill out that role with the charged attacks. Going low profile is already used by Pig and Ghostface. Blending in with the environment is already used by Claudettes and Wraith. Climbing and jumping over obstacles would break the game.

I want a Rat King Killer. It and that entire hospital section were one of my favorite parts of TLOU2. I know it only appeared once, but I think it was memorable enough to where people will want to play as it. Joel and Ellie could be the Survivors for another 3-character DLC (like Stranger Things).
I haven't really played Until Dawn or Outlast, but I wouldn't mind seeing them as DLC.
FNaF looks cool but isn't that scary, so I'm not sure how I'd feel seeing it in DbD.
Did you play the game or just look at leaks/watch a couple of short videos on YouTube? If you played (and beat) the game, you'll realize Abby isn't the evil, pain-loving monster people think she is.

I think chapter 17 is going to be Candyman considering all the hints about it before Pyramid Head. They've done that before where they made hints about a new chapter a couple chapters early. Even if Candyman isn't this one I bet he'll be the one after.
As far as video game chapters go Resident Evil is the top pick for me. Don't even care what they choose for the killer.
I think a TLoU Clicker would be a pretty cool as well. The power could be that he gets base 120% movement speed but he can't see survivors at all unless they're moving. Kind of like when Spirit phases but that would be permanent and anything in say 48 meters running,16 walking, 8 urbaning and standing still 2 meters would show their aura for as long as they're doing the action and up to 1 second after. Their power would be the echo location thing where you can yell in a cone shape in front of you and any survivor that gets hit in the cone shows their aura for a longer period of time. This would make you take a more stealthy approach.
The infected evolve over time so you can even have an ability where they start as a runner and you can evolve them to another form after a period of time. Either to a Clicker or a Bloater. The runner would just be base m1 killer where the clicker would have the above setup and the Bloater could have something like a fusion of Clown bottles and a oni charge attack.
I like Until Dawn but Hag is pretty much a literal Wendigo. Unless they really switched it up somehow I wouldn't want to see one as a killer. I'd like a survivor only chapter though and a Hag Skin.
I have no opinion on FNaF other than there are other video game chapters I would like to see first mainly Resident Evil.
Fatal Frame is another one I'd personally love to see.

i've watched every cutscene, and yes, she is, murders Joel after he saved her life, threatens to kill a pregnant lady, bites off Ellies fingers, threatens to shoot Ellie multiple times at multiple points in the game, and that's just off the top my head, that doesn't exactly say "i am a wholesome individual who doesn't like killing or hurting people" to me
(and don't even get me started on the fact that she got away with all of that with zero repercussions)
1 -
generally well received is quite a bold thing to say
2 -
Last of Us 2 Spoilers.
True Abby is a bit of a ######### and hardly a good person but I think she had a much better reason behind her revenge boner then Ellie did by a long shot. After all Joel did basically doom humanity and kill the only doctor that could potentially save it not to mention Joel was a pretty awful person before he met Ellie and settled down. He says as much himself. I think what I really enjoyed is how much of a scumbag Ellie had become by the end of the game as well. She was a straight up a monster willing to sacrifice anything for revenge that didn't even matter.

For video games, I want a Parasite Eve Chapter.
0 -
i will admit, Ellie is just as bad as Abby in every single way, but in regards to Joel's decision, 1. Cordyceps is a fungus, vaccines don't work on fungi, Ellie would have died for no reason, and 2. Would you sacrifice your child for the greater good? especially given that the doctors didn't even bloody ask Ellie if she was willing to go through with it
0 -
I made a mistake oops
Anyway, for me it was a good game, so don't be like that

Until Dawn is also a sony exclusive
0 -
Thats true, it wouldn't be as big a deal if it was a skin though.

All of these suggestions are absolute bangers.
For anyone who hasn't played Telltale's TWD, PLAY IT! PLAY IT NOW! IT IS SOOO GOOD! I would happily sell my house for a Clementine DLC. However, I imagine that license won't be cheap to come by, and I ultimately think that's the one thing holding it back from DbD. That being said, I REALLY hope BHVR considers it one day. After the Final Season ended, I was completely dysfunctional for an entire week; it's honestly a phenomenal series, and I really hope BHVR decides to do a paragraph on it.
As for Until Dawn, I haven't played it, but a Wendigo killer would be SUPER cool. I always wanted atleast one killer based on folklore, and a Wendigos would fill that spot just fine.
As for FNaF, man... I wouldn't be the same person I am today without those games. I remember when I found the games, all the way back in fifth grade. I remember playing FNaF 1 on the way to school with all of my friends surrounding me. We were so young at the time, and those games used to scare us to death.
Now after all of these years, FNaF is finally starting to creep out of its indie phase, and become the horror masterpiece it was always meant to be. FNaF VR was a masterpiece, a fresh reboot on the series that brought it further away from jumpscare horror, added new depth to its story, and made the game feel FAR more scary in its environment. FNaF: Security Breach will be the first AAA FNaF game, so I hope that reflects in its quality. Then, at last, the movie. They spent a LONG time developing the script for it, and it seems like Scott is taking the movie much more seriously than he does the games. In the words of Scott, " If I was treating the movie the same way I treated my games, we would already be 3 movies in, and they all would have been terrible".
I said it once, and I'll say it again, the DbD Forums are easily the most "anti-FNaF" part of the DbD community, if you go to YouTube or Reddit, they're much more accepting of the idea. Many DbD and FNaF YouTubers love the idea: 8-Bit Ryan, Bazamalam, FirsEncounterAssault (can't confirm this one for certain, but it's pretty clear he atleast somewhat likes the idea), Dawko, Seminatic, VenomXenomorph, and many, many more. It would be a dream come true to see FNaF make it into the game one day.
Alright, sorry for the long post. I atleast hope you read it :P

Finally someone with a positive response, I like your opinions c: and I'm glad you agree with these

people want the survivor sam who was played by Hayden Panettiere so they may have to ask sony and her or they could add sam not make it look like her but then what the point?

McLean, a gameplay programmer on Dead by Daylight, streams regularly on Twitch, 2 weeks ago someone asked him what he thinks of the recent hype of Springtrap. He replied 'I don't know what the ######### Springtrap is [break] because I'm not ten.'. Either he was joking, which I don't believe or he was mocking us for wanting him in the game. Honestly... I'm afraid that's what most of the people working on DbD think.

Owen told Abby that everyone else will want to turn back if they see Jackson, so it was either kill Joel then and avenge her dad or let him go and most likely never see him again. Also everyone else started reacted when they realized they had found Joel.
During the theater battle, Abby had already lost pretty much all of her friends to Ellie and Tommy (also she didn't know that Ellie didn't know that Mel was pregnant). All Abby could think about at that point was revenge and needed Lev to break her out of that state of mind. She wasn't thinking about anything else but payback for her friends. You'd be pretty pissed and near-uncontrollable if you found the people that brutally killed all of your friends within the span of a couple days, wouldn't you?
Biting off Ellie's fingers and threatening to shoot Ellie were during their fights, and is Abby trying to survive (they never had a 1v1 fight until the theater). The finger bite came when Ellie was trying to drown her. Abby's not going just accept defeat (especially when she didn't even want the second fight).

and none of that wouldn't have happened if Abby didn't get a revenge boner and went for Joel, the game's supposed message is "revenge is bad" so if that's the case then Abby could have either A. Not bothered going to Jackson or B. At the very least ask Joel why he did what he did, there is ZERO justification for her actions given the game's overall message

Yeah I've seen this clip. It's disappointing to see a dev with that kind of perspective on the game. I still don't know if he was joking or not. Even if he wasn't, of course there are going to be some devs who do/don't like the idea. Another dev said a while back on a dev stream that she loves the idea, and Mathieu (from what I've seen) seems to be mostly indifferent on the idea.
A lot of the veteran developers on DbD (from what I've heard) were also against the recent Hillbilly changes, and so were a lot of players, but the changes went through anyway. I don't exactly know how the wants of the developers affects what gets into the game, but if this example has shown us something, its that not everyone has to be on board with a change for it to happen. FNaF isn't nearly as severe in this regard anyway, since there are far more people who want a FNaF chapter than people who liked the Billy changes; it's much less of a mixed bag if that makes sense. Hopefully we'll see William Afton in the game one day.

I dont think these will be good as full chapters. TLOU for example maybe will work as a solo survivor chapter. Joel (with Ellie as legendery skin)
Unlike survivors i feel Killers always should be known and famous, And none of these are famous names as killers.

Chapter 17 is like 98% Candyman. I'd start speculating about chapter 18, instead.

With Outlast, I personally think Chris Walker, the big military guy would fit a lot better seeing as how he's the poster boy of the first game. The thing what made Trager unique is how well-spoken and "sane" he was compared to the other Variants. DBD obviously won't bring that same charm if they picked him considering that full blown dialogues aren't really a thing in DBD(Plague doesn't count). Other than the fact that he's ANOTHER medical personal (doctor), he gets wrecked in like what, 10-20 minutes? One moment he's strapping you to a chair, and the next he's not having a good time with the elevator. Unlike Chris who chases you throughout the entire game. He's even more of a pain than the Walrider was.

ik this is old and the chapters already come out (none of u got it right lol), i still think a last of us chapter would be soooooo amazing! those of u saying its ps exclusive and unlikely, now that theyre making a tv show of it maybe its more likely?? I guess we'll have to wait till the show comes out. Also those people saying about the killer needing to be an individual entity, maybe the rat king would be a good killer??
0 -
I don't know why my thread got brought back, especially because none of the speculation matched the killer we were speculating...
0 -
Ooh, necro-ed thread.
No clue, honestly. Sony still seems to own the rights, and this isn't the first time one of their properties has been made into another medium. Tom Holland is starring in an upcoming Uncharted movie, which is another Sony-owned videogame. That doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna port Uncharted to other consoles, or PC.
I would still say no. Maybe it's a little bit more likely, but I'm imagining Sony went to whoever's making the show first, rather than get asked to make it.
0 -
I'd say the fact that Kratos is on Fortnite is more of a point in The Last of Us's favor than the fact that The Last of Us is getting a tv show.
0 -
I wouldn't think none of these are bad choices. Maybe until dawn is unlikely. i think RE is the most likely now, Hopefully Jack Baker, or Mr.X
