Why hooks? Are they really necesary? or lorewise there is more than just hooks?

As we see, Pyramid Head use something else that hooks, he use cages, so that make me think that killers can put survivors on anything else

For example, the Pig could use a chair trap, Freddy could use a bed or some demonic thing, Demogorgon, idk, but is weird looking at him putting survs on meat hooks

    It’s what the entity made the killers do. That’s how they’re being sacrificed. PH can only cage people because that fits with his power.

    Pyramid Head, and the powers of Silent Hill in general, may be why the cages are unique to The Entity. He has a granted power, that I like to believe was modified with Silent Hill's Sun Goddess, which ended up becoming more powerful than The Entity suspected (bearing in mind The Entity already struggles with a few other killers such as Michael Myers and Rin Yamaoka).

    In terms of the hooks, I'm guessing that it's a method of "digestion", but whatever the reason, there must be something about them. Maybe it's the psychological and physical pain that a hook causes, heightening the emotions that The Entity feeds on so the "meal" is more nutritious for it.
