Graphics Tryharding
You ever watch a live stream or YT video where the lighting, textures, and particle effects look weird? That's what I'm getting at, where people go into the game files and manually tweak every setting there is. It makes the game quite ugly and I cringe every time I see it.
There are things you can do to mitigate disadvantages, then there's being cheap. This is clearly an unintended use of the graphics, right? There are things that are hard to see for a reason.
Trash PC? Colorblind? Poor eyesight? Not so big a deal for those people who could really use a little help, but for most it's an unfair advantage.
Maybe someone can help me see this in a different Light?

To me that's like saying increasing your brightness or having a light screen is an unfair advantage. Yes of course those changes can give an advantage but everyone is able to tweak those display settings, they exists so people can use them to their liking.

You can't edit the config files anymore, except stuff like anti-alising and vsync.
What you're describing is done through graphic card filters. It's been done in gaming since forever and it's normal use of equipment settings.
These community never runs out of things to complain about, but here we're really pushing it.

Lol. I want a brighter more colorful looking game and as someone else here said its not file editing its geforce's graphics filter for people with the nvidia graphics cards

the thing is the game has become darker and darker, and its not a good kind of dark. On The Game for example there's a lot of black crush. Throw in all the blendettes and some people have a huge advantage. filters just even the playing field.

eh ive edited the config files just to make things look nicer. as in mix over ultra settings (i call it ultra+) with low settings and voila. the game looks absolutely gorgeous yet i can still play on the shadows of low and have aa turned off, and have a resolution of i think 197%. if being able to see things better because my res is higher is cheating then idk what to tell you- dbd's lacked a proper settings menu for literally years and it just helps my game look actually nice so my eyes dont die.
plus shirtless david in ultra+ in 197 res looks b e a u t i f u l lemme tell you.

To take the OP's post seriously instead of all these troll responses. Yes there used to be ways to edit and tweak your settings to the point where there was no darkness at all on screen, or to set anti aliasing and fog in a way that let you see survivors in grass, including pretty much removing corn blindness. You could see a survivor in the corn from 40 meters out clearly breaking depth of field view.
You can still sorta tweak things to make it impossible for survivors to hide anywhere within camera view like gamma that reverses the killers default darkness compared to survivor. (yes killers have darker vision compared to survivors on purpose.)
But as some mentioned you cant edit those files anymore....(even though you likely still can and just kinda slide into cheating with it)
Outside of that though yeah....thats about all. But no it rarely had anything to do with a trash PC because this game runs on 700 series ######### tier nvidia cards. Most of it was people cheating, the small few actually use filters from their cards. That being said certain cards can still adjust the sharpness on folio to eliminate corn blindness to a degree, but nowhere near as hacky as the old settings edits.
And yes...I'm a snitch.

Anything in this game can be cheating if you use a sound enhancer congrats your cheating if you use a filter congrats your cheating if you give your monitor extra pixels congrats your cheating the problem is who really sits around and cares its a borderline party game not some esports tryhard gotta win it all game people see it as that and thats the issue if people stopped caring this wouldn't be such a big deal making a forums post about it is only giving those that take this game serious more ideas.
The developers can't do anything about it best thing to do is stop finding something to blame your losses on and actually learn to play around these things being in the game.
