So this is what I learned about silent hill.
Heyo people, so after the silent hill chapter was released (I know I'm late) I started researching cuz I really didn't know what the series was, so I'll tell you what I found and please let me know if I made any mistakes.
What is silent hill?
So silent hill is a survival horror game franchise released by Konami (I don't know if that's how is pronounced pls don't hurt me). It became famous for the psychological side of the games, as well for the horror aspect. There are also 2 movies but I read some comments criticising them a bit too harsh, so I just quickly watched some summaries, and they were pretty entertaining.
The story revolves around a town of some sort, that had a cult. It's followers performed many illegal acts like sacrificing humans. Children were brainwashed from a young age by the followers in order to learn about their religion. Basically, they believed that a sort of God could be revived by sacrificing children and he would turn the world into a paradise....I think.....
So they kept trying and kept failing, until one day the order's (the cult's name) leader Dahlia decides to kill her own daughter Alessa by burning her alive because she thought that she was the chosen child that would resurrect their God. Alessa barely survived, not before crashing the whole church, and was kept alive by a nurse. Alessa proceed to split herself in two and send the other child, who is now a baby, far from the town and be raised normally, because she knew she was the key for the revival of the God, and she wouldn't allow it. She cursed the town, creating an other world that was called the otherworld, where people's worst sides become living beings, it's literally trying to fight your own demons.
The other half was adopted and named Cheryl. After that, Cheryl and her father Harry (or Christopher if you like from the movie) have an accident in the street that connect silent hill with the rest of west Virginia and the game (or movie) begins. The protagonist in every game is looking for something, for example in the first game the protagonists is looking for his daughter, and encounter various monsters that can be killed by various weapons.
I won't go into detail about the various endings of the movies and of the games because I believe they are tiny details.
Who is pyramid head?
Pyramid head's first appearance is on the second silent hill game where he stalks James, representing his wish to be punished for Mary's death. A quick summary of the lore on the second game:
In the final stages of her disease, Mary fell into a state of agony and became verbally abusive towards James. It was during this that James smothered her with a pillow to relieve her of her pain and because of his growing resentment towards her. He instantly fell into a state of regret and denial, later receiving a letter of someone claiming to be Mary telling him to find her in Silent Hill. With the memory of killing her having been repressed, he traveled to Silent Hill to find her. But as he arrived, he found himself in a Dream-Reality state where the darkest elements of his subconscious were manifested into twisted monsters and scenerios.
Pyramid head carries a long sword where, you guessed it, punishes people, but seems to be in pain when holding it. He is both a judge and an Executioner, that's also why he was chosen as a dbd killer!
A direct quote from the silent hill wiki explains it better than I do:
Pyramid Head exists to keep James human and help him realize that he is guilty, often attacking other monsters to fulfill his role. The scene where James hides in the closet from Pyramid Head abusing the Mannequins represents the conflict in his mind. His fear of facing his inner demons manifested itself as Pyramid Head attacking other monsters to remove the visions from his psyche. Pyramid Head's abuse of the monsters intentionally conveyed sexual overtones. As Sato explains, "Psychological horror has to shake human's heart deeply. Shaking people's heart deeply means uncover people's core emotion and their core motivation for life. Everybody is thinking and concerning about sex and death. Everything. If we want to scare, shake, or touch the users or spectators, then we have to think about sex and death deeply. To make like a death scene, somebody died or monsters died, we tried to mix erotic essence. This is kind of a visual and a core concept."
Ok, I'm gonna end my take on the lore here since I kinda don't want people to get incredibly bored. Thanks for reading thus far and please let me know what I misunderstood.

Nice, this was pretty spot on. Just so you know its just Silent Hill not Silent Hills, Silent Hills refers to the cancelled reboot that everyone hates konami for.
