What happens if you buy DLC when you already own the characters in them?

When I first bought the game, I immediately bought some Auric Cells to purchase Feng Min and the Doctor, thinking it was cheaper, but it was $10 for both Min and Doctor with 100 Auric Cells left over. Spark of Madness DLC is $7. I know when you buy teachable perks in the shrine, you get bloodpoints if you already own the teachable perk, so is there something similar?

NOTE: I will not attempt this until I get a solid answer, I will not be wasting money on this. I just want to know if you are compensated for buying something twice.

    While buying chapter, you receive characters and also additional customizations for them (Project Awakening Coat/Stick and Overcharged Doctor, Relaxed Bun etc.). So while buying them at the store in the game, you do not just get those outfits. That's it.

    The only thing you get for owning the Chapter as opposed to buying individual characters is any extra cosmetics they came with. Otherwise you're only getting the default outfit.

    To clarify on what the previous answers mean by additional outfits:

    Laurie will not get Tousled Low Lights, Comfy Cardigan and Everyday Culottes.
    Ace will not get Sharp Ace, Grey Tux Jacket and Grey Tux Trousers.
    Feng will not get Relaxed Bun, Day Off Wrap and Soft Track Pants.
    Quentin will not get Beanie Quin, Quilted Shirt and Relaxed Pants.
    Tapp will not get Investigation Tapp, Investigation Suit and Duty Jeans.
    Kate will not get Midday Slip Dress.
    Adam will not get Graduation Day Suit.

    Note #1: This applies to purchasing them with both Iridescent Shards and Auric Cells, hence why it applies to the licensed trio of survivors.

    Note #2: I have not yet confirmed whether purchasing the Doctor with Shards or Cells will give you his Project Awakening outfit set or not.

    Saw threads on the forums about that. I remember when I answered the similar question, in which player said that he had purchased Doctor with IS, and received only Frosty Eyes customization. I do not guarantee.

    Other character from that chapter and customizations.

    Newer survivors should have gotten more than just a simple reskin of their top. Smh.

    It's just because of the store. Many of the more interesting customizations may be purchased there. Compare Kate's outfits in the store to her Midday Slip Dress.

    Oh I know, I'm guilty of buying auric cells on day 1 to get those cowgirl jeans. It just sucks that they couldn't give people more incentive to buy the DLC packs. If they were going to stick to reskins, they could have at least made an exclusive reskin of her base outfit rather than just the top. ;(

    You get a discount as well. $10 auric shards buys both characters or $7 with skins and such too and both characters. If my math is correct that is a savings and you get more things.
