How MMR works
The opponents you play is based on what killers you play.
If you play your main, you get opponents who just bought the game. If you play a killer that you have no clue how to play effectively, you get SWF sweat squads.

Seems about right tho

as a low rank you basically always get sweat squads so

MMR seems to work just fine for me. I'm getting red rank killers as survivor and red rank survivors as killer. Sometimes there's a purple or even green rank survivor in the lobby but for the most part everything seems normal. Are people exaggerating? I'm genuinely confused.

... while you are Rank 16 as a surv/killer

I'm red ranks on both sides.

MMR has been working relatively fine with me. I think the problem lies on it matching you with new players because they obviously have not played the 10 matches yet.

If they haven't played the 10 matches, shouldn't they be matched with people who haven't played either? Or people with low MMR?

Must be a flaw with the system. I read some time ago that the reason people were getting rainbow ranks (before MMR) was because someone dodged and then it tried pairing players as quickly as possible, maybe some of it translated to this rating?

Dbd's MMR doesn't even exists.
They just opened the matchmaking.

good luck trying to get any blood points in such a merciless MMR as either Killer or Survivor

In my experience, if I add up the Ranks of each of the Survivors and average them, they seem to always be within 1-2 points of my Rank. I don't know if that is a coincidence or not, but I see it every time I play.

I haven't had any problems myself but you can check out various top tier streamers over the last few days who have had some pretty lopsided matchmaking. For instance, OhTofu had a match two days ago that was him as Billy versus three rank 20 players and a rank 5 player. (Tofu is one of the top players in the game, FYI.) At least one of those rank 20 players clearly was brand new with only two rank 1 perks and a brown equipped. (The other two may have had a little more experience? Hard to tell, one had their perks hidden and the other was using full four perks so must have at least spent bloodpoints on their character.) That match ends at 7:29 if you want to see the endgame screen.
The second match in the video was a little better with two reds, a purple and a green (endgame at 17:22), the third match again has rank 20 players (25:11) at least one of which has literally just one rank 1 perk so is probably brand new.
